There are positives with him and there are negatives. The final product was beautiful, but it was definitely a hassle. I would recommend that people use him because he does good work but I recommend that it be very detail oriented and they put everything in writing because he doesn't listen. He says he understands what you are saying and when it comes to the detail work, he ignores what you say, and wants to do it the way that he says. Like many Contractors I have experienced over the years he says "I am the contractor and I know best," and I am like "But I am the client and this is the way I want it! So, we have many, many battles because I am a very stubborn person and I have done a lot of work around my house, when I want something a certain way, I want it a certain way. In some areas I compromised and in some areas I didn't and it was because that was the way I said I wanted it done. His work is good, but he has his own way of wanting to do things, which may not be the way the customer wants it. The cost was pretty reasonable for what we had done. His work is very, very good but the process is problematic unless you have detailed concrete work. I last saw him about six months ago, they came out to do some repair work and then now, they are going to have to come out again. They do respond well when there is a problem because he is probably going to come out and fix it, but he can't come out and fix it until it gets warm, so he is waiting for warmer weather. We noticed the problem over the winter, he couldn't come out and fix it because of the weather. The price of the project was around sixteen thousand. He did some repair to water damage and wood underneath my front door, he fixed my front steps; an area of concrete needed to be removed, foundation needed to be redone and then new concrete had to be poured. After that he did some beautiful stone work on top of the existing concrete stairs and I have about a total of fifteen stairs. I had to get new front wrought iron railings and I hired a contractor to do the railings, he had a contractor that he sent us to. There were problems along the way but it turned out beautifully. They fixed everything that needed to be fixed. I was able to look up pictures on his site, but I had a definite idea of what I wanted it done, through research that I had done. I even showed him a picture of what I wanted done. That was kind of where the discrepancy came in as to how he would achieve that and what the final look would be. Luckily I caught how he was doing it early on, I had to stop him because what he was doing was not what I wanted. He was pleased with the finished product and also other people who have seen it have requested the same thing. The way I wanted it done was more time consuming and he said it would have cost more. He had not realized that, that was what I wanted, but I reminded him that I had shown him the picture. That was what was in the contract because both me and my husband had told him that that was what I wanted. I guess he learned that in the future he might charge more for that kind of work, but I also brought him work. I think that it was well worth what we paid for. They cleaned up after themselves, but because of the rain they had to leave a few things.
