The owner and a helper arrived on time. That is where the positive experience ended. First, they informed me that they have never replaced undermount sink and that “it is done by the granite people”. Nevertheless, they went ahead to attempt the replacement. It was a challenge during which the owner made statements several times which made me feel uncomfortable and as if it was my fault that the replacement was difficult. The end result is that the sink is not centered accurately and not even caulked with white caulk to conceal the mount. I do give the crew kudos for undertaking the mounting of the sink, but the result is less than perfect. The cartridges: It was very obvious that both workers have never seen the universal 17T universal Delta cartridge and were unfamiliar with its mounting. They even had no experience how to unmount the Delta Lahara trim and it took a while to take it off. The cartridges were seriously stuck by the hard water build up but the lack of familiarity with the mounting was the real challenge for the crew. They also lacked the proper tools and I had to run and get a hammer, pliers etc. to try to get the job accomplished. The fact that to remove the first cartridge took 1.5 hours and the second one 20 minutes speaks for itself. It of course went much faster once they knew what they were supposed to be doing. Then, they replaced the shower trim back without even putting silicone around it. I had to do it myself later. In the end, I paid $377 for over three hours of labor (plus $26 parts) for a job which multiple internet estimates rated at around $200. No, I am afraid, I would not hire again.

We contacted Hill and made an appointment for an estimate. They came on site at the appointed time, inspected the locations for the install, made some suggestions on products and installations, and gave us a bid. Bid was reasonable and fair, based on the amount of work needed to install the gas line. The gas line is probably 25-35' long.
We contracted with Hill's for the install, they scheduled us in the next week. They explained that they had to do part of the work, then have it inspected, before the final hook up. They did exactly what they said, inspection was fine, and then it was all hooked up. It took two days to install, inspect and then hook up. They had to cut holes in the drywall out of the basement ceiling but did so very neatly so they could be put back. We are very happy with the end result and the process.

This service was one of four that I have experienced with Hill?s Hearth & Home regarding my gas fire places at two different locations that I own.  In all four cases, I experienced nothing but promptness, politeness, knowledge and professionalism.

I never submit responses unless I have something really bad or really good to say about a company.  In the case of Hill?s Hearth and Home, I don?t have enough room to compliment them on their performances.

Attention to detail was great - even the glass was cleaner than I thought possible.  I used a different provider with an A rating a few years ago with no complaints, but Mr. Hill did an even better job than they did.

The quote was the least expensive of the three that I received by several hundred dollars. Everyone who I talked to was friendly and knowledgeable. The master gas fitter brought an apprentice and both were punctual. The job was completed at the price and duration that was originally quoted and they cleaned up after their work. The guy was even willing to take questions from a new homeowner about possible future work including a new bathroom and upgrading the water heater. I have recommended them to friends and will have them back in the future for additional work.
