They showed up on time when we called. However, the rate that they quoted me was half what I round up paying. When we tried to give them five-day window in which to deliver, they completely missed that window. They were late on delivering. Their management was difficult to get hold to. There is period of time where I went without stuff for almost two weeks because they were late. I am not satisfied with their service.

They did a good job. They were professional and efficient.

Ezra, who was the driver for Direct Movers Inc while they were loading in Virginia, is a swindler. For example, he noted that the actual weight of the load was well over the estimated weight (which it was) then gave me false information that the extra weight would be charged at 83 cents per pound rather than the quoted 62 cents per pound. He then said, I want to try to help you out. I ll give you my best estimate of the weight and you can pay that if you agree maybe save a little money or I can go weigh the truck and then you re stuck with whatever the ticket says. Of course, he has to weigh the truck anyway, and he has to turn over the amount owed to the company, so his only option in doing me a favor is to grossly over estimate the weight and pocket the extra. He also said a customary tip is 10% (which would have worked out to about $120/hr for the tip alone) plus a little extra for the foreman. Any time he needed a box, he used the mirror packing boxes, which are small and cost $30 each. The contract was originally made with another company, who subcontracted the job to Direct Movers. When I made the contract I specifically said that I was moving to the Boulder area, but that I didn't have a new apartment yet. They said they would store my things in Denver for one month, free of charge, and it would be available when I called for it. Direct Movers did store my things for a month for free, but it was in Maryland so when I called for it, they had to set up a cross-country delivery with combined loads. It took several days to make arrangements, get the truck loaded, and then for a week they told me the truck was on its way. At the end of the week, they told me the truck was in Maryland again and that they wouldn't be able to make the delivery at all. (This was more than a month after they picked up the load.) They gave the load to a third, Colorado-based Company, who then got it here quickly and did a fine job. The bottom line is that Direct Movers is incompetent. (As is the other company-I have a separate post for them, but I mention them here because they share business).
