He was very good and he did an excellent job at a very reasonable price. He had good workmanship, he did it at the time that he said he was going to do it, and he did it for the amount of money he said he was going to do it for. Everything was fine.

Bob Covington did such an excellent job on our kitchen renovation that we would not only highly recommend him but we will definitely be calling him in the future for projects. He called me back the same day that I called him and said he had just finished another job for the day and could come right over and was at my house within an hour. Other contractors that I contacted were making appointments a month in advance for estimates. My renovation was a major job that included tearing down a load bearing wall. Right from the first estimate appointment, it was evident that Bob was an expert in his field, examining the structure of the house from the attic to the basement and making a dead on assessment of what support would be required for the removed wall. I had beautiful hardwood floor in the main part of the house that I wanted to match in the entry way and kitchen and Bob knew exactly who to call to match it perfectly even though the floor was no longer manufactured and had to be custom milled. When doing a kitchen renovation, most people hire a cabinet sales company to be their contractor and the cabinet seller then subcontracts a carpentry crew that the homeowner has never met. This seems backwards to me. It was more important to me to hire the carpenter who was going to be there doing the actual work and solving problems and making important decisions as they came up. Having Bob on the job paid off time after time; from when special carpentry work was needed to fit crown molding into an odd shaped beam to making the support post look like a beautiful planned part of the original home to when he replaced a sliding door and the joist was completely rotted out and Bob had to replaced it. I got almost identical plans from different cabinet sales companies and didn't feel like who I picked mattered much except for price and delivery time. We gave Bob the key to our home and knew it was in good hands. He supervised all the work of his excellent subcontractors who we will also hire again in the future. The painters and flooring guys were top notch. The bottom line is- our home is gorgeous! It's more beautiful than I could have imagined. From the first day that Bob walked in our home to give us an estimate to the day he completed this huge job was about two months. Something no one else could have accomplished. Bob is not social media savvy so you won't find a splashy web page advertising his work. But if you hire him you will get a honest, hard working, skillful craftsman.

This was a major task for us. We researched three contractors and decided to go with Covington after seeing his work at a neighbor's kitchen and hearing good things about him. His estimate was slightly higher but we felt he would be the best contractor for our needs. He worked well with the kitchen designer (very important) and made several suggestions to enhance enjoyment and utility of the new kitchen. He also had to coordinate the schedule around installation of new wooden flooring by another contractor. Everything went smoothly. Cabinets were installed with great care and skill. He was not present for the countertop installation but the installation was successful ( he credited the cost of countertop installation supervision). His plumbing contractor installed the new plumbing and his electrical subcontractor installed the new appliances and lighting and all went well. Since thicker flooring had been added, the old narrower baseboard now looked out of place. He suggested a different baseboard and installed it through all the rooms. This took creativity and carpentry skill to make it match from room to room and to fit under low window sills. When he was done, it looked like it had always been there. The overall job took many weeks but Covington made his portion bearable. He was there everyday and always left things neat and in order at the end of work. We were much impressed with his skill and the pride he took in his work. So much so, that we hired him again to modify a set of built in cabinets for a TV set. Again, he came through with a wonderful modification that did the job yet looked like an original design. Covington always went the extra mile and did things to enhance the finished product. For instance, he drilled extra holes to align the cabinet shelves so that they would not show through the glass doors. We feel he is a true artisan and takes great pride in his work. He has a dry sense of humor and is a pleasure to work with.

He first gave me a very detailed estimate as to how much it would cost, including making exact measurements of the windows (something the other two companies providing quotes did not do) and explaining what he would do for each window. During the installation he was very prompt, neat, cleaned up and replaced all of the material that had to moved for the installation.
