This is my second review of Lens N Eye. My husband and I were repeat patients. We  were always pleased with the service we received. Since our last visit, this practice changed hands and is now part of the Katzen eye group. The practice has changed significantly.  One of the pluses of the new practice is that there is an ophthalmologist on staff now, although she is not the person who conducted the major portion of our exam. This was done by a technician. Getting an appointment is still easy and there is very little waiting. Some of the old staff remain and they are pleasant overall. We were given a copy of our prescription when we left. They do take vision insurance.

In general, we feel the level of care has decreased since this practice changed hands. We were disappointed with the exams and especially with the outcome. Some of the medical equipment from previous visits was no longer on site. Glaucoma, peripheral vision, and testing for appropriate lenses was carried out by a technician. I asked about training and was told it was received on the job, which is not unusual in this field.  Glaucoma testing was done with a blue light and peripheral vision testing was done manually. I felt the peripheral vision test was inadequate. Only after initial testing was done by the tech did we see the doctor who basically checked our dilated eyes and provided prescriptions.
The selection of frames and lenses available at the current practice seemed more limited. The equipment used to measure for custom-calibrated-and-measured high definition lenses is gone and this option is no longer available to patients, although they offer other types of high-def lenses. I did not learn this until after my exam when I was being fitted for new glasses. Otherwise, I would have chosen a new provider who offered this type of lens.  Since I had just used my annual insurance coverage, I had to settle for lenses that do not meet my needs.
Neither my husband nor I are happy with our new glasses. My new high-def, progressive lenses do not fit properly and do not adequately compensate for my astigmatism. I must wear my old glasses to drive because I can only see clearly out of one side at at time. My husband's close-up vision is blurred in this new glasses. This was apparent when he picked them up. He was told that his eyes would adjust to the new glasses with time. This has not happened but he chose not to go back to dispute this. I felt we were under a certain amount of pressure when we selected our glasses.  We will not be going back to this provider.

He is very thorough. It was covered by my insurance. It is a good an hour and half drive. He is very knowledgeable. I went for a good 10 years with unsatisfactory glasses. I tried every optometrist. It was not until I went to him on a friend's recommendation who is a nurse. He is the first one to really be able to get my glasses that I could actually see out of. He will listen to the patients and work accordingly. He will adjust accordingly. I will go back and see him again in the fall. They research the insurance and work with their patient.
