Huffard Animal Hospital

I really like the vets at Huffard. One of my cats, Shumba stopped using the litter box, stopped eating and drinking. One a Sunday morning, I was able to bring Shumba in with no appointment and they took care of him right away. When I had to put Brandon to sleep, they didn't rush us to say goodbye. They gave us all the time we needed and gave us the option of being with him while the drugs were being administered. The only improvement I could see them make is the front desk as I usually have to wait 5-10 minutes to check in and check out. I think they also need more training when it comes to flea medications as I was given the medication.

They are excellent at communicating and reminding of upcoming visits and vaccination due dates.  Office staff are professional and well trained.  Vets are first rate and care about my pets.  I do wish their fees were lower.

Their whole staff is so nice to talk to. They’re extremely professional. If you need a question answered, they will make sure you get an answer that you need. It’s an all around nice place. It’s clean. The doctors are remarkable.

We have seen probably every vet there now (having 3 dogs) and ALL have been great and informative. They explain everything and are very patient with your pet. They do not do anything without explaining it to you. They do not rush you out the door and take the necessary amount of time needed to effectively treat your dog appropriately. When you go in, they let you know if your pet is not up to date with all of their shots and ask if you would like to take care of it while you are there. They send reminders in the mail for their vaccinations. They also have an online pet portal that you can use to request appointments, medication refills and ask generic questions. You can even get email reminders for all of that too! We haven't had any problems there, they are a great group of people!

They were very thorough in their examinations and very helpful. They answered our questions and listened to our concerns. When one of our kitties, Oreo, got sick, they got her in right away and got her on antibiotic. We finished the antibiotic after 10 days and she is doing much better now. I feel like my cats are in good hands here and will continue to visit for their medical needs in the future.

The staff at Huffard's are very caring. It's a busy place but I have never had anyone be rude to me. What I like is that a tech will call you a few days after your visit to see how things are going and to make sure that all is good. I recommend this vet service.
Like everything, vet costs have skyrocketed. If you can buy pet insurance to help alleviate fees, then you should do so. I have three cats and it's too costly for me.

I had a good experience at Huffard. I bought two kittens one male and one female. A friend told me about Huffards so I decided to take them there to be spayed and neutered. The receptionists are very polite and professional. They let me drop of the kittens the night before so I didn't have to drop them off early in the morning. They keep the kittens until the medicine wears off and they are cleared to go home. My kittens healed up nicely and have had no issues. Huffard's isn't the cheapest place in the area but they have great customer service so it is worth the extra money.

This was my first experience with a vet since I have a puppy now for the first time in my life. I had no idea what to expect and had a million questions. The vet, Dr. McCafferty, spent a lot of time with us answering all my questions and get to know my puppy. She gave me a ton of good information and wrote it all down for me. My puppy loved her. I will say they are a bit pricey, but I don't mind since me and my dog are both so comfortable there. I have also seen Dr. Gray, who is also excellent.

Check-in went fairly smoothly. Check-out went very smoothly. The cats came home healthy.

So, why did we switch vets? We had an opportunity to go to another vet and were shocked at how much more compassionate and caring they seemed. Every single person whom we came in contact with at the new vet (actually, this was in Virginia) was incredibly caring. It made us start to think about our historical Huffard experience, and in comparison we didn't think that they compared well. In particular, the staff can be a bit brusk, and you might get the impression that they (though probably nice people) have seen just a few too many cats or dogs that day. I also think that the pricing is at the higher end of that for our region. Finally, while and quot;good enough,and quot; I believe that some of the more junior veterinarians are somewhat inexperienced. It is just the nature of a larger practice.

I took my cat, Pumpkin in because he had stopped eating and was lethargic and sleeping more than normal. I made the appointment and got in the next day. The hospital is a very nice, well run hospital. The staff is nice and professional. The wait time was acceptable considering the number of animals before Pumpkin. The vet did a basic examination while I was in the room, and found nothing overt that was wrong. She told me that she would do some tests while I waited.
While I have no problem with the way my cat was treated, I do take issue with the way the staff is not transparent with the costs. I was shocked with the barrage of tests that were done without full disclosure of the prices or which tests were absolutely necessary. The problem was minor and very easily treated. While I would possibly take my cat there again, I would also consider other vets.
While Huffard does truly care about the care of animals, there seems to be a big element of making as much profit off of caring pet owners by omission. I know now to question, question and question some more.

I would never go back and I haven't.

They were referred to me by my boyfriend. I accidently overdosed my dog as he is diabetic and he gets shots twice a day morning and evening. One morning my boyfriend had given him a shot and I didn't know it. I turned on and gave him a shot too and then realized what happened. Then I took him to them and he was fine. They are really good with the dogs. The dogs don't mind going there. They are just good. I was happy with the price they charged as I thought it would be charging maximum.

They are very professional. They do make you wait sometimes after you arrive for your appointment.

Our overall experience was good. Our puppy was check over for any undelying conditions. She was given meds for worms and chipped. I have to include our other visits as well. We are always able to see a Vet. The receiption staff is professional and compassionate. Dr. Mosby is the vet we use and she has been very good with both our animals and us.

I've been taking my dog here for her annual checkups for about 4 years and have been overall satisfied with the service. It's a little pricey (~$200) for a 10-15 min exam, but I've been satisfied with the staff and how they treat my dog, so I really can't complain about a once a year visit. I would recommend Huffard Animal Hospital for routine pet exams.

We like the fact that this hospital has many vets by which we can see, as making an appointment is convenient. They are clean and the facility is pretty up to date. We do feel that the prices can be a little high, but you get what you pay for.

I really like the clinic. The building is new and clean. They have six very good vets and everyone is very pleasant. They also provide boarding and when I leave my pets, they seem to really like it.

WHEN I TOOK MY CAT TO THE VET, THEY WERE VERY NICE IN HELPING ME FILL OUT THE PAPERS AND WAS VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY CAT, I WOULD RECOMMEND ANYONE TO GO TO THIS VET.

I HAVE GREAT EXPERIENCES WITH THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE A VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY COMPANY. THEY ARE GOOD WITH GETTING YOU IN TO APPOINTMENTS AND WORKING WITH YOUR TIME SCHEDULE. THEY ARE GREAT.

THEY ARE GENTLE, CARING, and VERY GOOD WITH THE PETS. THEY DON'T REMEMBER THE INDIVIDUAL ANIMALS, BUT IT IS A LARGE FACILITY THAT SEES A LOT OF ANIMALS.
