Roofing work to our carport was finished on 5/18/11.  On 12/28/11 I came home to find my husband on the carport NAILING DOWN the roof that was coming off again.  We tried to contact Donald White Roofing only to discover that the contact phone number has been disconnected.  TWO THUMBS DOWN!

The work went great but it took them a while to get started. It was close to a month after he came and gave us the estimate before we actually got the roof put back on, and we were a little concerned about that. They did not seem to be in any rush to get the job done. They did not ask for any money upfront. They completed the job and they cleaned up everything before they asked for the check. They were wonderful once they started going.

His nephew came out and we were not very impressed. He was very thorough and took a ladder to look at thing and told us what needed replacing. We just didn't go with them because we ended up getting more damage and were afraid to go with a small company. He also was not very good and being responsive.

They fixed both areas and neither leaks anymore. Additionally, they explained to me why the leaks occured and educated me on proper channeling of water and how errant caulking was making the problem worse.

I used to be in the roofing business 10 years ago, so I know a lot about the subject. I only contacted roofing companies with top notch reputations due to the complexity of the project. I got four official estimates from large local companies and was slightly impressed with 2 of them. I was referred to Don White by a rep. who works at ABC supply co. in Balt. They had no complaints with BBB or MHIC and had a very low MHIC # (30+ years in business). Donald White spoke with me personally and sent his nephew Jerry out to give me an estimate. I can barely crawl up my roof, but Jerry was walking all over it like it was nothing and just dropping his tape left and right and jotting down numbers. He then came down and told me exactly what I needed, and I was blown away with his attention to the fine details of my complex roof. He was extremely polite and courteous. Donald White called me the next day with a price and mailed out a bid. The price was higher than 2 of my estimates but not by much and lower than the other two. The job took 6 days. They showed up bright and early every day for all consecutive days. They had a 4 man crew and Jerry was the foreman on site every day. They were all extremely hard working, courteous and professional. Believe it or not they all spoke English. I really appreciated the personal touch that Jerry gave by politely answering all of my daily questions. They really took their time to give me a top quality roof job. The new shingles look awesome, the roof is beautiful and it looks like a brand new house. All of my neighbors say that it is the most beautiful roof in the whole neighborhood. I had some rake trim damaged by wind and birds, which they noticed and fixed for no additional charge. They capped my turrett with a custom made black metal top which they designed, also for no additional cost. All companies can use the same materials, but who do you trust to install them properly. Of the 5 companies that I had estimates from Donald White Roofing was the only one that I felt totally confident with. I made the right decision to hire them and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

They did a really good job. They were reasonably priced and I will continue to use him for my roofing needs. They will respond if there are any problems.

I left a message asking for an inspection of my roof to tell me whether it needed to be replaced (it is 20 yrs old) or could be fixed. Mr. White called back within a few hours to get my information and said he would send someone out. Jerry was out the next day to inspect the roof while I was at work and called to tell me that I wasn't missing any shingles, the nails had just popped out. He said the roof was still good and it could be repaired. He left the estimate & Mr. White called the next day to see if there were questions. I told him to go ahead and fix it. I probably should have gotten 3 estimates, but the price was reasonable and he was prompt. Jerry and another guy came out in 3-4 working days to fix it. It looks fine now. I later talked to Jerry and he said whoever put the roof on used nails that were too short, but not to bother replacing it until a lot of shingles are coming off. There are also 3 layers of shingles so all will have to be removed to replace it.
