Dave was referred to me by a coworker who was very pleased with the work he did in replacing and repairing drywall from flooding in his basement.
We have been trying to get ceiling fans installed in our 2-story family room since we moved into our house. None of the big-box stores (or Angie's List Deal provider we paid for the job) would consider the work. They wouldn't even come look at it. Dave did, and it was a free estimate. He was a little concerned about the height - not from a and quot;could he do itand quot; perspective, but from the tools he'd need to rent. The room is wide open to the ceiling - about 18 feet. He thought he was going to need scaffolding, but was going to try a tall ladder first. He quoted us for the ladder option and left it open for us to decide what we wanted to do if that didn't work. Scaffolding was going to be a larger cost and longer time. Turned out the ladder was a little awkward, but worked just fine. He rented it from Home Depot right up the street.
The faucet install in the kitchen sink was to replace the one we had that was leaking. It was a 3-hole/1 lever plus sprayer Moen (we had the faucet). Hubby could have done it, but knew it would take time he didn't want to give up.
Dave quoted $450 to install the faucet and two large (72and quot;) wood-bladed, 2'-drop fans and make sure the remotes worked (the house was already pre-wired for the fan, so he didn't have to run new wires - just connect what was there). He thought the work would take about 8 hours, but he was going to need to spread it over two days so he could pick up and return the ladder for the least amount of rental cost. We were missing one of thedecorative screws in the fan box, so that took a while to resolve - he waited at the house while I went up to the store and got another one. He considerately did not change his cost for me to get this done - basically on his time. Over the course of the two days, the work did end up taking longer than 8 hours (partly our fault because of the screw). He stuck to his estimate, which was for the work done and not the time it took.
We were thrilled! Still are. The fans have saved us considerably on our heating and cooling costs because they circulate the air in that huge space. The faucet works like a charm. And we've recommended Dave to all our friends and family.
He's careful about what he agrees to do. For example, we needed some roofing done after the storm ripped fascia and some shingles off. He said that's not something he's skilled in, and he didn't want to take the job because he doesn't believe in and quot;learningand quot; on someone's house. We like that - he knows his limitations and sticks to what he can do well. He factors in the time he thinks it will take when he gives you the quote - if that changes, he considers that to be a result of his workmanship and not an additional charge for the customer to deal with. That's nice.

The servicemen arrived ahead of schedule and went right to work. In addition to cleaning the furnace flue, they did a visual inspection of the chimney exterior. They were finished in less than 30 minutes and left the work area cleaner than it had been originally.
