This unit was put together with four (4) steel clamps (that becomes important a little later), and that's it. I took it apart so that all Frank needed to transport was the base. Frank and I spoke on the phone about when to expect him to arrive and he was right on time. I've been in sales just about all of my professional career so customer service and punctuality are quite important to me. When Frank arrived the house was a bit chaotic. We were in the middle of having the house re-carpeted.
Frank took a long look at the piece needing repair, asked some questions, and gave me a price and a time frame in which he expected the work to be done. I felt very comfortable with him and was quite pleased with the estimate of the cost and how long it would be before we had it back. About two weeks BEFORE when Frank said it was likely to expect to have it back, I got a call letting me know he would be here with the piece on 6.18 about noon. A few minutes before noon on the 18th Frank pulled up, right on time as promised.
Earlier I mentioned the four clamps. Here is where their importance come into play. I had asked Frank when he picked up the base if he would take some time to help put it back together. Seems simple until you realize that those four clamps, the age and issues with the back all contributed to a large amount of aggravation on both of our parts. Just when we thought we had it, something would not line up or pop loose. I told Frank several times that there was no reason he should stay and that I would try it later on my own along with my wife. True to his word, and I'm sure not to let it beat him, he would not leave until it was done. We persevered for well over two hours until we finally got it together. I was, and am, very thankful to Frank for sticking it out. I feel certain that without his help the armoire would still be sitting in pieces.
The cost came in right where he said it would. The base looks great and is now sturdy enough to handle what it was intended to handle. I have only the highest regard for Frank and those who did the work. It is probably stronger now than when it was new a century ago.
I know often you hear about those who do this type of work, and contractors in general, never delivering on time or within the quote. I feel very comfortable saying that The Towne Stripper is nothing like that.
Frank and company do what they say and deliver as promised. At whatever point in the future I need this type of service, The Towne Stripper will not be my first call, it will be my only call.
They were outstanding. It was a rickety old shelf my grandpa made. they tightened it, refinished it and matched it perfectly they were super quick and friendly. I would use them for everything. I tell everyone I know to use them we have given 3 or 4 referrals since.
