He does not respond to warranty repairs. The window he installed has been broke for almost 2 years, called and left numerous messages but he does not return any of my phone calls.

James came out and gave us an estimate and made recommendations on which design to choose. We had 7 huge windows that needed replacing. We had him do a door before and he did such a great job on it and we got many compliments. He clearly told us the timeline for installation. When the windows came in we had to delay his work because floor installation we had on one room was taking longer than expected. He said no problem and we rescheduled install date. He came out and installed windows and did a great job. Windows look fantastic and everything was cleaned up after the job was complete. We did ask for him to replace window sills as well after noticing the condition. He had no issues changing at last minute. Highly Recommend.

James Gay responded promptly to my request for a quote submitted via Angie's List. We agreed on a day and time for him to visit. We have received a quote (on a different project) from Mr. Gay before although we did not select him for that project (it was VERY close). As before, there was ZERO pressure. Mr. Gay showed us the (many) available options and made good suggestions to ensure the final result was low- to no-maintenance. He was flexible regarding locks and could order the doors with pre-drilled holes but no locks so we could provide our preferred locks. (Other vendors insisted on a different lock which would have prevented us from using common entry door keys.) We explored the possibility of retaining our existing storm doors. Mr. Gay was forthright about the downsides of that, although he was willing to give it a try. In the end, we decided to go with ProVia steel entry and storm doors. We are VERY happy with the result. As Mr. Gay estimated, it was a 2-day project. The results are BEAUTIFUL and work great. Mr. Gay was respectful of our house and deck and cleaned up well after the work was complete. The final price was very fair. Recommended!

From the very first call to schedule the estimate through installation, this was the smoothest, most trouble-free, angst-free home project I've ever experienced. James is responsive, honest, hard working and friendly. He listened to my criteria for windows, made a recommendation and wrote up an estimate. He did not try to push me into a more expensive window than I needed. He gave me all the information on low/medium/high quality/price and let me make my own decision. I told him that my policy is to get 3 estimates and he was very encouraging of that practice. This was in no way a "hard sell". He genuinely wanted me to do the best thing I could do for ME - not for him. (how often does THAT happen?!) The estimates were so close in price that the difference was immaterial. I decided to hire him for the job primarily because of the positive impression he made (there was really no contest). I read about the windows he recommended and the company has an excellent reputation and sells quality products. He came over (and was prompt) and we signed the contract. He called when the windows came in and scheduled installation. He and his helper showed up exactly on time. The windows are MUCH better quality than the old ones. Both new windows were in the bedroom. Since my major goal with the new windows was noise reduction, I opted for a triple paned, coated window on the side with my noisy neighbors and a standard double paned model for the other side. They got to work right away. They were very respectful of my home and of me. A few hours later, they were done! Clean-up was excellent as well. It does my soul good to know such honest and hardworking people are out there. I recommend James heartily.

James and his brother Joe were on time and did an excellent job. The whole process was professionally handled, from the initial meeting through the quote and actual installation. James completely understood our tight budget and didn't try to convince me to spend more than I had to in order to get a great product. James promptly returns calls and was very understanding and accommodating when I had to change the installation date. The work is top notch and the clean up was spotless. Pretty simply, you don't find too many guys like James anymore. He's coming back to put in new windows. Hire James and you will not go wrong.

Excellently. We were introduced to James by Home Depot who hired them to install the first set of 12 windows. Once we realized we could by the same top-notch Anderson windows from James directly and hire him directly, we did so at a much lower cost. They are quick, clean, and prompt. Highly recommend for any window or door work!

Over the last few years, we’ve pretty much had every door and window in our house replaced by James and couldn’t be happier with how everything has turned out. He’s a nice guy and does really great work. He makes sure everything is done right. The whole process is so much easier and nicer than working with the big window companies who try to high pressure sell you into everything. He just sells good products and installs them right. You really can’t go wrong. Definitely recommended!

James and a helper arrived promptly. They finished the job in one day, did excellent work and cleaned up beautifully after themselves. I love my new windows. I had researched online to get an idea of the price to expect before meeting with James and I was happy that his price was in line with what I was expecting. I would recommend Chesapeake to anyone.

This is the second time we have used Chesapeake Window and Remodeling and have had great experience both times. James is great to work with. James gave us a fair price on windows and the quality of his work is outstanding. We had a minor issue with one of the original windows cracking but even though it had nothing to do with the instillation, James responded quickly and coordinated with the company to get the window replaced through the warranty. We have now updated all of the windows in our house and we are very pleased with the results. I would definitely recommend James and Chesapeake Window and Remodeling for anyone needing quality replacement windows.

Great experience with Chesapeake Window and Remodeling. James Gay, the owner of this small business, provided excellent service from the moment I spoke with him over the phone till the day he personally installed the windows (approximately 3-4 weeks after initial contact).
I highly recommend this company. Of the three proposals that I received, James's was by far the most reasonably priced. This is most likely because Chesapeake Window is a small company without the overhead of paying for advertising and salesmen. James sold me the windows, and then installed them himself.
The windows are incredible! They look great, block street noise, and will, I am confident, reduce my heating bill significantly.

I feel so lucky to have found a contractor of this caliber thanks to Angie's List. James Gay is an easy going, friendly, no pressure salesman. He also performs the installation himself with an assistant. He also gave me a very competitive price for two top notch doors from Provia that he is authorized to install. The fiberglass door is so tight and thermally energy efficient besides being gorgeous looking in the mahogany finish. The storm door is built solidly too, I love the retracting screens in the top and bottom. Together the doors give me a very tight and secure entry way. Mr. Gay does exceptional work and pays attention to all of the little details during installation. I have had a couple of contractors at the house since the installation, one for windows and one for attic insulation and they both raved about how nice the doors looked and how well installed they appeared to be. James Gay is the one you can trust to do an excellent job.

We were living overseas, but wanted our windows replaced in our Maryland home prior to our return to the house- a big time difference made communication a bit challenging, but James was a consummate professional. He was willing to coordinate visits to the house for measuring and estimate and install purposes with family members and our tenant- and all with a smile. His work was clean, neat, and done within 2 days. He was also very honest- said that one of our sliders was in good enough shape to not need replacement. I can't recommend James and his company enough.Just a pleasure to deal with. You won't be sorry if you select Chesapeake Windows and Remodeling. Thanks James!

James was great. He was straight forward and honest in presenting us the options and putting together a quote. He didn't try to sell us on the most expensive version and took time to tell us the difference in the materials and models based upon our needs. His quote was very competitive. It was also nice to know that he was doing the work himself. He was on time with all appointments and took pride in his work. Most importantly the job was done well. We couldn't have been happier with the experience and would definitely recommend him to anyone getting new doors.

James Gay is great. He came to our house, measured, explained the options and his reasons for dealing with his supplier of choice. There was a little back and forth on the phone to sort out the details of the glass and door hardware, and he was able to arrange for the lock manufacturer to set it to our existing key because of the type of lock we had originally. Installation went as scheduled with no surprises, and was done as promised by James himself with a helper. James seems to enjoy ending up with a happy customer and goes out of his way to do a thoroughly good job. At every step of the way we felt that we were going to end up with the doorway we were hoping for, and when all was said and done, we ended up with more than what we had expected. James takes a lot of pride in his work, and rightfully so. Very nice.
