Hardware & Home Improvement Stores
They're not prohibitively expensive. They're very professional when they do deal with me. They have what I need. They could have more people in the checkout lines and have more people to answer questions.

Door Service
I purchased front and entry storm doors from Home Depot last year. My home is fairly old so all the doors had to be custom ordered. This process was a bit annoying but I guess that's the price you pay for being a home owner.
The kitchen door order went well. I ordered everything and they arrived fairly close to when they predicted. Caffes Construction did the installation. The installer did an EXCELLENT job! Everything was and is still working great. I do have an issue with the blinds in the door which I'll address if I can actually get someone at Home Depot to respond.
The front entry and storm door order was more of a challenge. The storm door was more of a special order than a custom order. I had to order a tall door, which is not custom, they just dont stock them. The entry door was completely custom. Custom size, color, etc. The door took FOR-EVER to arrive. I called and called and they kept telling me it was coming but it arrived weeks after the date they quoted. Once the entry door arrived Home Depot discovered that my storm door was been damaged. No one seems to know if the door arrived from the vendor that way of if it was damaged in the store while awaiting the arrival of my entry door. A person from Home Depot contacted me and informed me of the situation and notified me that they were ordering a new door and putting a rush on it. They also said the would compensate me for the inconvenience, which NEVER happened. I didn't make a big deal about it because all I wanted was my doors installed.
The new door arrived and Caffes came out the install the doors. This is where it all went wrong. First let me say, I LOVE the entry door! It's beautiful. However I cannot lock it from the outside. The door doesn't sit flush against the frame so I have to push the door in to lock it from the inside. When it was installed it worked okay, but as time goes by the problem seems to get worse. I had Caffes come back out and check it, they tweaked it and it was okay again for a few weeks then the problem started again. I've had to replaced the top lock on the door because somehow this issue damaged the lock making it so the key will no longer work. After replacing the lock, less than a week later the new lock wouldn't work.
I've called Home Depot several times and cant seem to get anyone to return my calls. I also went to the store, opened a request and was told someone would be contacting me later that day. Two weeks later, still NOTHING. Customer service after the sale is clearly not important to Home Depot.

Door Service
I ordered the storm door and they have sent at least 3 people out in reference to my door closure. They first brought out a black closure when the door was white, so they had to take it back. During the attempted installation of the door closure I felt they were speaking to me very unprofessional and asking me was I still "fussing". After repeated attempts to install the storm door they finally have it in but the closure is still not right. They attempted to send another person out to repair the enclosure but he was very disrespectful to me before he even started the work so I sent him away. They have caused me so much grief during this project that I have been overwhelmed. I definitely don't want this type of thing to happen to anyone else.
