Barry did the siding, gutters in 2018 and in August 2020 installed 5 windows for me and they did a excellent job. I did check the windows were rated very highly online. Yes, I would hire Badgers /Barry Flakes again.

In general, it went well. I didn't have an estimate of when they would start but fortunately I wasn't in a hurry. Their roofers work very **** ** very hot days. They worked for 14 hours until the roof was completed and 3 skylights were installed. Their workers were very pleasant and respectful. Made an effort to clean up very well behind themselves.

Barry and his team did an excellent job, everything went smoothly from start to finish. We had a full roof replacement and they also replaced damaged wood under the roof shingles. They also installed new skylights. The team cleaned up after themselves and they were very professional. We would certainly hire Badger Contracting again!

The install went very smoothly and the entire team at Bager were all extremely professional. The roof install was perfect. There was an issue with the leaf gutter guards and The Bager team corrected the issue very quickly. I would highly recommend the Bager Team.

Grade B because the sub they hired to do the work did not know how to install roof venting system. Badger quickly verified the error and had the sub remove brand new shingles and re-do part of the work. Had Badger visited the site during work this might have been avoided.

THey put one thing on the contract and over charge me $200 more. They would not comeback to to double check their job on a timely passion. They told me to go to the License Bureau which would not cover it because I have a rental property. This company kept on promising to comeback.

Doors
Barry was originally pretty responsive. He came, gave things a look over and then contacted me quickly with the numbers. Looked good so we went ahead with the project. He said he would order the doors and then give us an ETA on the install. I didn't hear from him for a few weeks, so i got in touch with him. He told me that the doors should be in the following week and once they got them they'd call and schedule the install. Great! A week goes by and I don't hear anything, so I message him again but didn't get an immediate response. A couple days later, on a Wednesday, I get a call saying they could install the doors the next day. Good thing I work from home, otherwise that would not have been possible. The crew showed up and installed the first door. Looked around, then said they had to go to Lowes and buy some supplies. They were gone close to two hours. The install took the full day. They did not come prepared at all, of the two guys that were here, rarely were both here at the same time because they kept having to run out to get more things and even ended up using out own table saw. They finished the work on the door and I will say it looked great. Opens easily, looks good, the header looks great. They tell me they will be back the next day to do the other door and would call me with what time I could expect them. Next day rolls around and I get up early in case they show up early. Don't hear from them for several hours. Then they just show up at the door around 1pm. They install the second door and replace the section of sub floor that was damaged. That one also looks good, we are fine with the quality of the finished product. After the doors are done, they are cleaning up to leave when I see the screen doors had not been put on so I asked about it. I was told that one was missing a handle and the other was cracked at the top so they would need to be exchanged. The man said that he would text me the receipt. I wasn't thrilled about this, I didn't even know if I could fit them in my car, but they were headed off and just simply left them. I never got the receipt texted to me, I had to call Barry and have him send it. Come to find out when I returned them, the screens were fine, they were just the wrong ones, these screens were meant for a single french door. I had to order the correct screens which cost an additional $100. It doesn't seem like much, but I paid them for a finished project so I was not happy that I had to spend additional money. I sent the new receipt of the order to Barry, explained what was going on, and never heard a single word back from him about it. They also flaked on giving me an estimate for deck work, but at this point I wouldn't hire them again anyway.

We thought we had done our homework upfront, we researched and read reviews before selecting potential contractors. We were looking for a contractor who could provide us with multiple services and it seemed like Badger Contracting was able to provide all we were looking for. After meeting with the salesman we were so impressed with his professionalism and the product and the overall price that we canceled all other appointments and signed a contract in March for a 4 -5 day Reno job with prospective start day of 2 weeks out. 2 weeks later we had not heard from anyone and so we reached out for an update. We were told that the materials were not in. That began the long game of lack of communication that would continue for the next 3 months. The following week (week 3) we really became concerned that this company had taken our $5,000.00 deposit and ran.......nobody wanted to take our calls, for sure nobody was calling us with any updates, just very unprofessional. Then one day we came home and the siding material had been dropped off, I mistakingly thought that meant that the work was beginning.....wrong again. Now they were behind because of weather (a month?). A week later the siding guys show up to start working. From the beginning we were told the door would be done first. The siding guys said that would be someone else and asked us when they were coming with door.? Shouldn’t Badger be communicating with them? But they started anyway. These guys were impressive! Their work was so good and everyone of the workers so friendly and courteous I started to forget that it had been a month. The siding guys kept asking us when the door was coming and we kept calling Badger to get an ETA on the door. I got so many guarantees of the door by this date or that date......long story short, siding people stopped work and FOR A MONTH OUR HOUSE SAT PARTIALLY TORE OPEN IN THE FRONT. ladders and scaffolding in our yard. This wasn’t a fancy door. We ordered a black fiberglass door.....solid with two side light panels also solid with a tiny window up top. Nobody called us, the owner of Badger Contracting was belittling and condescending when he would take our call. He told me that it was my fault that my house was sitting partially finished and ripped open...that he would have never started until he got the door but for our complaining. At the 2 1/2 month mark (and no end in site) we purposed that we would go pick up our own door from Lowe’s or HomeDepot if he could give us a price credit for the door ($2,300 door listed in contract). Frankly when he couldn’t deliver on the door a professional would have been purposing alternatives to us at this point. He became so angry he screamed and shouted profanities at me (a woman); completely unprofessional. 2weeks later and while we weren’t home (our baby sitter was) they show up with a door. A white door, painted black and two plugged-patched holes....touch up paint all over....it was awful. He tried to seperate himself from the door people, it went from his number one door company to a company he rarely uses and will never use again. Bottom line, we wanted the job to just be over, pulling the door out for a new one ment more waiting, more work for the siding guys and more stress of dealing with Badger Contracting, if your looking for a roofer I think that may be what he is and where the good reviews came from. We felt like we were left to try and coordinate all the different subcontractors that he was clearly in over his head with cordinating. Outside of a 5 day project taking 3 months and getting stuck with a used damaged door the house did come out just as I had imagined it. The siding guys were great, unfortunately you are who you associate with in business. I would not pay to be talked to or treated so disrespectfully. Bad way to do business.

The work went very well. Everyone showed up as planned. Work took about 1 and a half days. Roof was 3400 sq ft. This roof is guaranteed lifetime, labor for 25 years. Barry Flax was easy to deal with. He kept all promises. Workman were great, quiet (as you can be during work), clean up was good. I have no complaints. It was a great job for a very fair price.

"Hi. We are sorry that our offer of price, quality, and service was not a fit for your contractor selection process. For the record, we received your Angie's List lead on October 4, 2016, and met you on October 5, 2016 at 3 pm. I am not certain how 24-hour turnaround on meeting with a lead and producing a proposal is anything less than professional, responsive, or punctual. When we called the lead to ask them about this they did not even recall who we were, which makes this review rather suspect. Also, it should be noted that we provided a 25% discount on the proposal and the amount of the job was $9000, not $9500. Perhaps the lead was confusing or conflating his experience with one of several other contractors. I am not sure how the process of requesting an estimate from a contractor yields a grade. Sometimes our price is higher than others, sometimes lower than others, sometimes right in the middle. Giving us a 'C' because you didn't like the price is a little unfair considering you did not hire us. Kind regards."

The delivery of materials in a piecemeal fashion and the rig and crane situation is standard operating procedure for professional roof installation contractors. The owner cares about a number of things: your satisfaction with the job performance, dogs and animals, and spending time with his family. That being said, he had no problem receiving and responding to your email while on vacation. Schedules are often such that the owner and members of our team are able to stay in close communication with and about any job even when a vacation is taken. At the end of the day, you had a brand new roof, installed by our professionally trained crew. They did a great job and scheduling was easy. They cleaned up well after themselves and were professional. Barry's estimate was right on the money and his follow-up was outstanding. The installer indicated architectural shingles would provide better coverage and simply charged me the difference. The architectural shingles also come with a lifetime guarantee and they did a good job with explaining this.

It appears that the overall quality of the work is very good. It certainly looks good. I just hope that what I can't see is as good as what I can see. I did have some concerns through the project. The project manager Mike was not on the site the entire time. In fact it was another of the workers who started the job, and still another who told me the job was finished and had me take a final look. I had to prompt them to do some remaining cleaning of my deck and gutters which made me uncomfortable as they were kind of a rough looking bunch. The crew seemed a little put off to be asked to do it even though I was promised this was part of the job. So I wonder how well the other promises concerning the underlayment and ice shield got communicated down from Barry to the crew and if they were actually installed as promised. I was not here when that was laid, and there seemed to be a great amount of underlayment left over. Only time will tell, and I hope the 25 year workmanship guarantee will hold up should I find it necessary to exercise it. They also seemed to be very rough while on the roof throwing around the shingles. They caused cracks in my drywall in one upstairs room. And as another reviewer wrote, they broke a piece off the bottom of one of my shingles while removing the old roof. Barry is very personable and seemed professional, and I made the deal with him. He, however, was never on the site while the work was being done.

"In 2014, Angies List offered a preliminary roof inspection service to its customers by pairing them with a local contractor. Roof leaks are sometimes kind of random because not all contractors are created equal. As part of this Angies List promotion we were sometimes paired with customers whose roof issues exceeded the limits of the inspection service and light maintenance repairs that we would ordinarily provide. It should be noted that the cost of the service provided does not match the customer's narrative but, thankfully, the roof has not leaked since we repaired the work of the original contractor. We are sorry that the customer was not satisfied, but we will continue to strive to meet the goal of our job is the customer's satisfaction."
