The installation went great, they had a reasonable price, the technicians were on time and very pleasant.

Below I outline the specifics of our install and system function/disfunction. My advice would be that while ADT provided excellent service in one state they are presently unable to provide adequate service in our current home for a variety of connectivity reasons. I essentially pay for a non-functional, non-reliable security service, something that no one wants for their family. We moved to a new area and had to reestablish our ADT service to satisfy the requirement that we re-start services at our new address to avoid cancellation fees on our last contract. Having had ADT service for 4+ years we were more than happy to continue service at our new location. On the day of install/contract signing I should have known we'd have problems. The sales rep was unable to complete our contract on his iPad as it relied upon network connectivity with AT&T mobile service (there is zero coverage at our home). He completed a pen/paper contract instead. Fine, but the ADT service uses the AT&T network to contact the ADT mothership. Yes, a problem. The workaround was to attach our ADT service to our (equally spotty) internet service. Further, I pay for the ADT pulse service (i.e. use of the app, paid additionally for an electronic lock that you can open/close via the app, also paid for two horrendous thermostats that I am allegedly able to change using the app.) I should mention that our sales rep was from ADT "Custom Home Services", a moniker for covering larger homes but does not mean anything about having better service. Here are the problems we have had since install: -- We have tried to use the app when traveling and are able to execute the functions less than 1/2 the time. We once had an emergency of sorts where the system was armed and our contractor needed in our home and we were completely unable to disarm the system. So, why have this fancy service if it is unreliable at best? We also paid for two light/lamp controls that work on the wifi network as well and as you can imagine they are also inoperable via the app about 1/2 the time. Also, the above mentioned thermostats are equally unresponsive. I've included a photo of the thermostats. Please note that they have no brand markings and I was left no manual for their operation. I tracked them down online and discovered they are cheap and were not even available for purchase any longer. Remember, I bought this "upgrade" so I could use them with the app, which is not very responsive and further, these thermostats are extremely simplistic and cannot accommodate a daily "program". They basically run the fan: on/off/auto (auto is always on) and run the condenser: on/off/auto with only one temperature setting available, no ability to build program for a day/week. Without the manual I had to figure out how utterly basic these thermostats were. I was not given any alternative or better thermostat options and feel that ADT was just trying to get rid of these very old models at "new" prices. -- We have a "mobile" control pad, as in, you plug it in and can use it to control your system just like a hard-wired control pad but can move it around your house. Ours is severely limited and can only be used on one side of our bedroom (it's intended location) and one part of the home overall. Sometimes it is slow to respond or will not arm/disarm the system on first try. Again, if I were in an emergency and inputting the duress code, would I get an emergency responder? -- Lastly, when I called to complain about the above problems and lack of function I received an apology and a rate drop. Thanks for the cheaper rate but I still don't have complete system function and despite this am obligated to pay the remainder of my contract for a service that I'm not receiving. In sum, please find a security service company that has solid and secure options for the area in which you live.

I have not had any issues with them. If we have had a problem, they have resolved it. We only had an issue once, with a bad power outage due to a storm. When they installed the system they were on time.

I have been using ADT for about 3 weeks for security system services.  I pay a monthly fee for the service.  So far I have had a really good experience.

The alarm salesman was at my neighbors, I listened to the spiel and heard her negotiate her price (our houses are identical). Later the salesman came to my house, we confirmed the install price and signed the contract. We set the date of the install. Brinks called the night before to confirm the next day install date and time. One tech showed up promptly at 08:00 and read the contract, walked through the house, we confirmed locations. Then he started working, running wires through my house is not easy, he called for assistance and another tech showed up. Between the two guys (who worked great together) they managed to come up with some great imaginative solutions to getting the wires unobtrusively to the desired locations. These guys were good. When finished they cleaned up, tested it all, gave me some training, went over everything again. Suggested we sign up for a seven day trial period to learn the system. (Good thing, we've set it off a couple times). The techs are good talented people to work with. They worked hard. They even refused the tip!
