I decided to switch to Verizon Fios after having Comcast for 8 months. I'd had Verizon in the past and was only moderately impressed but things have really changed! I received numerous notices about the technician's arrival time and he showed up exactly when he was supposed to. The technician was excellent - very professional, competent, and fast. He knew exactly what to do, explained everything, and gave me his phone number in case I had questions after the installation. Verizon's price is not only competitive - at this point, it's cheaper than anything else I could find and the service for phone, internet, and cable is definitely better than Comcast.

After so much time on the verizon website and on the phone, we decided on a plan that costs nearly $200 a month. But so far, I have been overbilled and the service is so slow. I do think that they tell you your service will be very fast but both TV and Internet are terribly slow. We are looking at how to get out of our contract.
Description of Work: We got a 2 year contract for phone, Internet and FIOS TV service. The fios TV takes so long to come on - it seems to be loading for a very long time. The Internet is very slow even though it is supposed to be faster than what we had before.

The technician was great - friendly and very knowledgable. It's not ideal having a long four hour window to expect service but he called in advance and the timing was good. Took about two-three hours to complete everything. Enjoying Fios right now.

Verizon FIOS is my Internet/cable/telephone provider. We choose them because we did not like Cox at all. As soon as Verizon became available in my neighborhood I switched. With Cox we had too many outages and very poor customer service. With Verizon we pay a little more, but it's worth it because the speeds are faster, we've had them for two years and we haven't had even one outage, and anytime we've needed customer service, it's been prompt and professional. The only downside to Verizon, it's a little pricey, but not too bad because we renewed a package with a 2 year contract, so it's cheaper. Also, sometimes, the on-demand gets little glitches - the two most annoying ones were right when we got the service, if you stopped an on-demand program, when you turned it back on, it would start from the beginning. It was a glitch in the whole system, and it took about 2 months to fix because they had to patch the whole system. Also, lately, if you rewind a program on-demand, it goes back almost to the beginning. I need to call and report that. However, these are minor inconveniences, and I still much prefer Verizon to Cox.

Verizon Fios, once again did not come through. Four days ago, after hours on the phone with Verizon, being l=placed on hold for over an hour several times, they said they would send out a new battery. The battery back up, which is located in my bedroom, has been chirping every 15 minutes 24-7 for a week! The battery is still chirping and I have not received the new battery. I called Verizon again, and they said the order for a battery was never placed! I was told I could just unplug it, but when I did I lost my services. It should not be this complicated to resolve a simple issue. Last week, I had an issue with a set top box. A tech was a no show on Wednesday, they rescheduled for Thursday morning then called to change the appointment, they ultimately arrived on Friday. I have been constantly rearranging my schedule......I have had several issues with the techs being no shows or arriving at 4;45 pm, then telling me they get off at 5:00 pm. I was kept on hold for 3 hours by Verizon! I was ultimately without phone/internet service for over a month when I initially signed up. My bill is also $50. a month more than a friend who lives near me, who moved around the same time, has the same packages, same number of set top boxes..... Shame on you Verizon. They should not be able to hold you hostage to your contract, threatening you with ETF, when they are in breech of contract by not providing service. I give Verizon two thumbs down.

The job or service is not. Yet completed. Waiting on correct DVR boxes to arrive. They said possibly. Ext week. That would make it three weeks after ordering.

Everything went fine. Verizon installed phone, internet and cable tv service. Everything has worked perfectly since the installation and the service is excellent. The Internet is fast; the picutre quality for the TV is great; and the phone works as it should. It will be interesting to see how much the service increases in price once the initial promotion is finished. For now though, I'm very happy.

By that time, it was evening. The Fios guy was there promptly (before 8 A.M. the next morning). He fixed the cable attachment in our house, and then climbed the telephone pole and re-attached the new cable. He was professional, courteous, prompt, quick and knowledgeable.
Description of Work: A tree fell in our yard taking down the power lines and Fios cable late in the afternoon on Friday. After all the hulabaloo, (the street was blocked, power was out for all of our neighbors), we called Fios to report our outage.

The service rep told me that good rates were only and quot;introductory.and quot; He literally told me that if I was going to stay with the company I should expect to pay more. Then he tried to sell me additional premium channels and to increase my internet speed at an additional cost. Verizon has a long history of penalizing loyal customers of long standing. It would be nice to see a change in that corporate culture.
Description of Work: Requested a review of my account and what I was paying since my yearly fees were over $600 more than the introductory offer being made.

The initial installer seemed in a hurry and did not set up the phone service correctly. We had a second visit to re-install phone service, but were then told that digital voice service could not be set up at our location. We recently upgraded service and were told that digital voice would be activated, and it was. Now all is working fine, but the costs keep going up so we plan to shop them against Comcast and Dish sometime in the next year.

We have had a major problem with the set top boxes from verizon fios; we are on our third box. I think they should have checked to make sure the box was working properly before they left. I thought some of the problems were user error, but we finally have a set top box that is working.

Service is very reliable. The DVR functionality works well and it is easy to add an external hard drive for more storage. We did have to replace one DVR that wouldn't get updates from the servers and it wasn't as simple as it should have been (restoring settings from a backup didn't work initially and some things got duplicated in the the process) Pay-per-view movies don't work well at all. If you pause for too long the movie stops playing, and usually will not restart when you left off. Then you are stuck trying to get back to the middle of the movie, and the only fast forward speed is 2x.

Out of the two companies that I had a choice of, they were the one that was more responsive to my phone call and had a better website. I will continue to use them because they were the only choice we had for the new type of internet bandwidth that we wanted.

The technician that arrived at home my to install FIOS was utterly incompetent. He arrived at 9:00 AM and finished the install at approximately 4:30 PM. Throughout the install process the technician seemed to be guessing his way. He didn't seem to know what has to be connected in order for the internet, phone, and television to work. His last major infraction involved him disabling all of my phone jacks in my home. Verizon need to screen their employees prior to hiring. All technicians should be properly vetted to ensure their technical skills are comparable to the services Verizon offers.

I do not like the fact that it takes time to get the picture up, when I turn it on. Also, I do not I like the fact that in order to retrieve my messages I have to listen to somebody preaching. I cannot listen to my messages, until I listen to the overdue messages. On the other hand, their phone service has been good. Their entire service has been reliable.

Called four different times and got four different prices and answers. Ultimately my son still had to pay for the start up costs even though no one had to come out and install equipment. I just transferred my equipment to him. They said they would make a note on his account to waive the fee, but they have to charge it first and then he has to call them to remove it. I remain skeptical.

They are fantastic. Fios is their fiber optics service. I will never go back to cable; they are the only ones I will use. You never have to worry about your internet speed dropping. You actually get faster speed than the recorded one you are buying. That is awesome. Their service has never gone out on me. I like Fios.

I pay $180.00 a month without the cell phone. They have a lot of stations to choose from. I have the fastest internet speed I can have. I have international telephone calling. I had an incident where I hadn't realized I was spending a lot on a telephone call that I had made to my daughter in Australia that would have cost me $700.00. Verizon called me and offered me the international phone service and back dated it so it only cost me $7.00 instead of $700.00.
