Fichtner Services first sent out someone to look at the job and provide an estimate. The estimate was very competitive with two others that I had received. They then sent a project foreman to take measurements of the rough opening to ensure that I had the correct measurements when ordering the the door system via the door company's website. The door system was built and shipped to Maryland within five months. Since the crate weighed over 1000 lbs, Fichtner Services coordinated the delivery date and time with the trucking company. They arranged to have extra manpower and equipment on location to off-load the crate, unpack the door system, carry it up a seven-step high stoop, and maneuver successfully into place. The entire process, which involved removal of the old entry door system, installation of the new door system and installation of new locks (which I supplied) was completed in one day. Due to the superb coordination efforts and attention to detail provided by Fichtner Service personnel, the operation went quickly and flawlessly. A company technician returned several weeks later to successfully solve a sticking latch problem and install a new door knocker with peephole. Every member of the company that I dealt with, either by phone or in person, was always friendly, professional, and prompt. I first stumbled across this company in 2003 when I needed to have a new furnace exhaust system installed from basement to attic roof of my two-story detached house. They managed to accommodate an 11th hour deadline and did a great job. From my experience, Fichtner Services is a reliable company which consistently provides quality service.

Nolan and the team at Fichtner did a fabulous job installing my new front door. They were on time, courteous, hard working, and detail oriented. This was a tricky job because my rowhouse is over 100 years old and the doorway isn't square. But they did such a great job that you have to look closely to notice that there is more framing on one side than the other. Since my doorway has an arch over the transom, the crew also had to design a piece to go over the transom and then paint it to match the doorframe. My new door looks great and I couldn't be happier. I look forward to working with them again.

One company wanted to replace my entire siding on the front of the unit in order to give me any kind of guarantee and was going to cost me an arm and a leg. This company came out and advised that there were no caulking around the window. They did the job and ended up saving me a lot of money and did a great job. They were very prompt and I would highly recommend them to others.

Went very well. Having snow storms developing they were able to come out a week after the initial estimate. Clean up afterwards was done very well.

This is the second time I have used Fichtner's, and I would continue to use them. From the estimate through work completion, they are nothing but professional and thorough. They are also the most cost effective roofer in the area that I can find, but they don't skimp on quality. The installers showed up early, completed the job in a timely manner, and cleaned up after the job was finished. I have had nothing but pleasant experiences with Fichtner's.

Prompt to visit our house for an estimate. Quick turn on an estimate. Pleasant to work with when deciding whether to proceed - good balance of checking in to see if we had questions and giving us space to decide. Their scheduler is very professional, polite and prompt in replies. Crew cleaned up after themselves well - I would not have known they had been there if they had not left their card on the door. i will definitely use them again for other services.

I discovered that the fascia board behind a section of gutter had rotted away. I called 2 contractors on Angie's List for estimates. Fitchner Services showed up on time for our appointment and they were very professional, knowledgable, and friendly. The only reason I didn't hire them was that the other company could get to the repair job much quicker, and we were going away on a trip soon. I was very impressed with them. The estimator answered all of my questions and took time to explain how they would handle the job, even though it was a small job. I really appreciated that. I would definitely hire them for another project or repair.

Excellant service. Arrived on time. Finished quickly. Supervisor went around the house looking for any stray nails/screws that might have fallen. They replaced our roof approx 5 years ago, very happy, so we called them back for this job. Will definitely use them again!

The crew from Fichtner arrived on time and quickly went to work caulking and patching two levels of roofing on my rowhouse. They found and were able to fix a couple of problems that weren't apparent until they started working on the roof. They explained what they did and cleaned up when they were done. Everyone I have dealt with at Fichtner (from the estimate, work crew, scheduler) has been friendly, courteous, and helpful.

Salesman was professional prompt and accommodating. The crew arrived at 7:30am 9 days later and finished my townhouses(and neighbors) by 2pm.

Mike Bafford was the sales person who came to our home to do the estimate. He was very thorough and detail oriented, explained the services that would be provided, and was very competitive in price. On the day the roof repair was perfomed, the crew were punctual and efficient. The crew supervisor, Jan Schmidt, was outstanding in explaining how the repair would be completed, and provided thorough answers to all of our questions. The crew did a great job in replacing the roof, even painting the exhaust pipes to match the color of the new shingles. Clean up was outstanding, there were no nails or mess in the yard. Overall, the work and services provided were excellent, and we would certainly use them again for other services, and have no reservations in recommending them to others.

We contacted Fichtner Services to replace our roof and install new gutters and downspouts. We also had them replace our bay window and replace the trim around it. Fichtner Services was not the least expensive estimate we received, but we were extremely impressed with their positive reviews and their professionalism and responsiveness to all inquiries so we decided to go with them. We are extremely glad we did! All work was done in a timely manner and to our complete satisfaction. After the work was completed, their clean-up was impeccable. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for excellent results at a competitive price.

The crew at Fichtner Services did an absolutely amazing job on both roofs. The foyer roof was particularly challenging. The new foyer addition joined the original bay cottage to a rebuilt garage addition placed in the same garage footprint. Bottom line, neither the house nor the garage was square to itself or each other. (Fichtner was aware of this at the time of the bid.) Joining the buildings with the foyer meant that the installation crew had to work extra hard to make this problem disappear. They took all the time they needed to make it look perfect. Both my contractor and I were amazed. The foreman is truly an artisan. The crew was also very courteous and professional as well as punctual. If this is the standard Fichtner meets in all of its services, I can understand why they may be understaffed in their metal department. The only slightly negative comment I have is that i had to wait longer than I wanted to get on their production schedule. But, it was certainly worth the wait. I'm going to bring them back to do a gutter estimate.

Thorough evaluation of situation and logical recommendation for repair. Work went very well and was completed in a timely manner. Only set back was 2 visits for install since first visit they did not have all material to do work. No more leak!

We were extremely pleased with the services provided. The majority of the work was done on the first day (removal of the old roof, installation of some damaged plywood, removal of old skylights and installation of new ones, installation of pipe collars and the installation of the majority of the new roofing shingles). They returned on the second day to complete the roofing installation and did an outstanding job of cleanup. We have never seen one nail since the job was completed!! Three of our neighbors have used their services for roof replacement and were extremely pleased with the quality of their service, the price quote and the professionalism of the installers and foremen. We would definitely use them again and have recommended their services to several of our other neighbors who have inquired about our satisfaction with the whole process. They are a first class company.

Mike Bafford was very professional. He arrived at my house on time for the appointment. He examined my roof and provided samples of roofing options. I appreciate the time he took with me to explain the pricing and the work to be performed. Becuase I am not having any problems or issues with my current roof, I decided to wait to until next year to revisit this. I will definitely contact Fichtner Services in the future!

Mr. Fitchner came to my home on 10/10/14. We discussed the problems and issues related to the work that was previously performed on my roof which did not fix the leak. He agreed to do the work necessary to fix the leak.

My roof is 18 years old, and recently developed a small leak which appeared on the ceiling in a bedroom during a storm. Two contractors who came to estimate a repair assumed the leak was in a valley near where the water appeared. They wanted to tear out and replace the valley for $500-700. A full roof replacement (which I'd asked for, since it's getting near its useful life) came between $10-12K. Scott from Fichtner Services was the third to come out. After surveying my roof, he could not see any issues that warranted an expensive repair. Since no damage was visible, he recommended I get up on my roof with a garden hose and carefully try to figure out how water got into the house. If I could "prove" where it had leaked, he offered to come back and do the repair job. He insisted the roof overall looked fine, and that it was not due for full replacement -- didn't even take the time to measure the area or provide an estimate. That weekend, my partner and I teamed up with one in the attic and one on the roof with a hose. We discovered a very tiny hole from the top shingle all the way through the underlying board, about as big as my pinky finger. An old nail had worked its way out and created a puncture - very hard to see without getting close, so no one else had spotted the problem. I had some spare shingles and supplies around, so we managed to seal the hole and reshingle ourselves. The problem is solved, at no cost. I assumed this was not a DIY job, and worried my roof was deteriorating. Without the encouragement from Fichtner, I might have spent way too much on unnecessary work. I called to thank them for their honesty, and would gladly call them again when real work is required! Very professional.

Fichtner did a wonderful job repairing storm-damaged roof trim---so good, in fact, that I also had them replace all the gutters, including installation of a leaf-guard system. They use top-quality, name-brand materials, install them precisely & on-schedule, and provide superb personalized customer support. A strong recommendation for this great local contractor!

Shortly after writing the comments above, I was contacted by Fichtner's owner, Tom Fitchner. Tom apologized for the misunderstanding (Scott apparently thought I was going to do the research). I subsequently met Servcie/Sales Representative, Kevin West who was very professional and more than willing to go up on the rood to determine the amount of work required. In addition to the estimate on the roof, Kevin gave me an estimate on gutters and downspouts despite a very tight deadline. I anticipate using Fichtner for the entire project.

Very well - my roof is nearing the end of life. They gave me valuable information while not trying to sell me services that I don't need yet.

Went very well, attention to details, discussed pro and con's of ridge vent on gambrel home, Cooperative on scheduling. Came back to address concerns and changed some flashing for appearances at our request. Made sure we were very satisfied with job.

The team was very punctual and professional and did an excellent job on a difficult task. The prior deck had been badly built and was leaking badly and had to be totally replaced. This required cutting and then rewelding a wrought iron fence... removing the old rotten wood and duradek... and then rebuilding the deck with a pitch (the old one didn't have one)... then installing new plywood and new duradek. Oh... and did I say they had to work around a spiral staircase going to an upper roof top deck. I was amazed at how the team performed... getting all the materials up to a second story deck... and the ingenuity in working around the spiral staircase. They were a pleasure to watch and did an excellent job.

Fichtner Services, was great during the whole progress. Kevin the estimator did a great job, explaining items to us and helping us choose the right shingle for our house, he bought a bunch of examples for us to look at. Very friendly and understanding, the first quote appointment for a new roof was just myself, because my husband got stuck at work. A week, later he came out again, to show us the samples to my husband, since he couldn't be there the first time. The quote of the roof was great value and they did a great job, so glad we went with them. The work was completed in just one day..one day for the roof, one day for the gutters, we didn?t need to be home for the projects. So by the time, we got home, the work was completed and the dumpster was being picked up. Great job. Unlike our neighbors across the street, who went with a big home improvement store, their roof needed to be ?fixed? because of the bubbles on it. Our roof looks great and the gutters are working great. We were both so happy with the whole Fichtner team; we went back to them to get our attic insulated on our 1970?s house as well.
