I have been with Dish for many years and overall, I am happy with their service. All of my service calls have been punctual, but I have had some minor problems.
When I first had Dish installed in 2004, the installers were sloppy with tearing up my trim in my living room. They gave me some money for repairs on the spot, which was OK with me. They left without the local channels being active and told me that they will automatically come up later; that never happened and I had to have someone else come out and repoint the dish.
A few years later, a LNB failed on my dish and they sent someone out to fix it at no charge. Service was excellent.
Several years after that, I moved to another location and the install was smooth. Then, I upgraded to HD, which required a different dish. The technicians origionally told me that I would have to pay extra if I wanted a pole mount. I told them that I want to contact their supervisor about that because I hadn't heard of that before. They said that they would contact them to see if they could waive the fee and went back in their truck for a while, came back and they said that there would be no charge for the pole mount. I suspect they were trying to pocket the money. The install was flawless and I never had problems after that.
A couple years later, I moved again and got a great install without any problems.
I rarely lose the signal unless we have a very bad thunderstorm and that is a brief outage less than 15 min. Also, when it snows, I go out and brush the snow off to prevent signal loss (that is why I always want pole mounts rather than roof mounts).
In the 10 years that I have been with dish, the DVR hard drive has crashed (typical for any hard drive after 3 years). When this happens, they will charge you for shipping unless you have the service plan. They also will charge you a fee if you need to have a technician come out. Many times, it is cheaper to add the service plan before you request a replacement DVR or service and they allow you to do this. Then, you can cancel it after 4 months.
I have the 722K receiver with the Over the Air (OTA) Module and Sling adapter and I love it. I have my attic antenna connected to it and I receive about 40 channels. My most recent experience with Dish was when I complained that when they dropped WBAL due to a contract dispute, they also removed the DVR guide data for OTA, which meant that I needed to move my timers to less reliable DC OTA channels. They emailed me back saying that they were sorry and gave me a $15/month credit for 2 years. The dispute only lasted a day and I had WBAL with guide data back.
as The Sling adapter allows me to watch anything that my receiver can get including all OTA channels that I pick up with my antenna, all of the cable networks that I receive and most on demand content.
My biggest complaint is with the content, but it is the same content that I would have if I chose any other provider. TV is getting worse every day and it is getting more expensive mainly due to big media conglomerates demanding more money from the providers. I gave Dish an A because it is the best value for my situation, compared to other TV providers in my area (DirecTV, Comcast and Verizon FiOS), but I still don't think I am getting my money's worth and am strongly considering going down a notch or two for the programming.

I have had Dish Network for 6 years, maybe even longer. It's television, it works and it's good. I did drop some of their products, premium channels, that I didn't watch anyway due to their prices. I am going to have this until something better comes along.

I just switched from Direct TV which was awful; every time it rained we lost the connection and it happens rarely with Dish. They have been responsive and came out right away when we needed them. I will use them again in the future.

This process was awful. I called six weeks prior to selling my home to have service canceled and dish removed. Two days before my move, I called to confirm...apparently you have to ask for the Dish to be removed then to cancel service, or they don't fulfill the order. So, they decided they were going to do it, the day after I sold my house. The seller requested that the dish be removed, but it was not in the contract, so thankfully we could go ahead with the sale of our home. They charged me $99 to do so and 6 hours on the phone to get it done. However, they didn't remove the brackets, apparently it states that in my contract I signed seven years ago. I'm surprised I didn't remember that. Now I have to hire a licensed roofer to remove the brackets that you cannot see. This is also on top of a new roof that I just put in, I think the buyer is being ridiculous but the fact that Dish Network doesn't care about servicing and keeping customers happy is more ridiculous than getting brackets removed.
