He was extremely rude and insisted on talking to my husband instead of me. He blamed things on the insurance company. It turned out that the leak was actually due to a masonry problem.

In the end, I didnt like the way it looked.  A roof is not just functional but should look good as well.  I replaced my drywall and repainted the ceiling in the inside of the house.  This past rain, 6 months later the roof leaked again and ruined the drywall.  I contacted them three times and I havent heard from them for the past three weeks regarding this.  The guy was supposed to show up once so I called back and the woman told me that she gave him the job and told me to camm the owner because she was going on vacation and he would handle it directly.  He finally called and said he would come by.  If he came by then he didn't contact me since then.  I'm still waiting.  A bad roof can only be tested when it rains if it fails the job is not worth the money you paid for it.  If you put a roof on you should test it with a hose.  Thats what I would do.  How else can you insure that it was a successful install?  The other option is to wait until you get a call from the homeowner and get it repaired and replace the damaged drywall and paint. Thats why a roof is so expensive.

I was quite pleased with the work. I will use them again in the future if needed. I was able to communicate with them through email which was quite convenient for me. They could have been a little more responsive concerning some of the custom aspects that I wanted done.

One thing that I liked was that there were some people that were good. They weren’t always there to oversee these people and that wasn’t something that I was kind of happy about. Sometimes it was hard to get a hold of them. They might do good job on remodeling but I didn’t have them do that. I went through the bank as my bank was paying them directly for home improvement. However I felt like that they did their job correctly but they hired set of people to do the job and it wasn’t they who did the job. The only downside was that whenever I wanted to get a hold of them I wasn’t able to get a hold of them right away. The work they did on my house was minimal and they didn’t get permit right away, so they had to go back to get the permit because the bank held their payment. Some of the stuff that they did was good and some of the stuff was not good. When they did the skylight the plaster fell apart and they had to redo that part on their own. The people who did the windows did a very good job. Their price was not the best as it was on the higher side. They did come and do the work quickly. The people who did the work were very good. The person who came out and gave the quote was very good but whenever I wanted to get a hold of the owner I couldn’t. I wouldn’t use them again. I didn’t have them do any expensive work.

When they came in to do the job they were very enthusiastic and personable.  They seemed to become almost like family members.  They gave me an estimate of $1300 to fix the roof and replace the skylight that was put in by a previous worker who put the wrong skylight.  The first estimate was for $1300 and he told me that he would need a little cash to get the materials.  He went and came back and dropped off one pack of ceiling shingles.  I showed him some shingles I had left over from a job that I had left over a couple of years ago. He said he could probably use them but he never went back to the shed to see if he could use them.  The next day two trucks showed up with workers and they did do the work.  They took a few days to do the job and they had to go and find the correct skylight.  After they started he said that there was more damage to the roof than they thought to complete it would be $3000 which I thought was too much.  They had already started the work and he seemed a little nervous to tell me that the price had gone from $1300 to $3000.  He was still acting very concerned about the workmanship of the previous contract workers.  He completed the work and I gave him the money and the last part of the work was mudding inside on the ceiling.  He told me that he would do that when it dried and he would sand and paint.  That was the last time I saw him and he never returned to sand or paint and that’s the way it is now.  It was not a big job.  It is a little bit of sanding and painting and it is not a whole lot because it was the bathroom.  When I made the last payment that was the last time I saw him.  I did not call to remind him that there was work still to do. I don’t think I would trust him to do any more work for me.  From $1300 to $3000 was a lot.  The work as far as I know was done correctly and I haven’t had any leaks but I am questioning the amount of money they charged me for the fact they didn’t complete the job. I think they over charged me. The quality of work is good on the outside and I have not had any leaks but they didn’t use any of the shingles in the shed.  When they left they took the pack of shingles that were on the driveway. They failed to give me a proper price. In the beginning their responsiveness was good but they never came back.

They seemed to have done a good job. They took a little longer and they didn’t start on time. I had the work scheduled for June and they didn't come until the end of July. I would probably use their services again.

The job went relatively well.  They removed the old tub and put in the new one.  The installation of the tub was done well.  The frame however, was not built very well and parts of it had to be redone before the tile could be applied.  The other problem with this company is that they subcontracted all the work, which in my opinion raised their prices.

I asked for a quote for some other work after they were done as well, and the price came in ridiculously high.  I asked the estimator what the deal was, and he basically said that they didn't mark up the price on the previous job enough, and did not make enough profit.  So they tried to pad the next job more to make up for it.  I did not use them for that next job.

Representative for the Company showed up at the appointed time.  He was very thorough in his inspection of the house, offered suggestions, explained the products which would be used, told me how much the project would cost and took time to explain how the process would work.   From the very beginning of the process I was contacted on a regular basis concerning the ordering of the materials and given up-dates about the materials estimated arrival and the date for the work to begin.  The work on the siding did begin on the date given.   The workers were very prompt, hardworking, efficient and finished in what I thought was record time.   The deck work began the day after the siding and that again was done very professionally and promptly.   Both the siding and deck turned out great.   The before and after pictures to me are AMAZING!!!!    I then decided to have the gutters done and that again was done very professionally and promptly with great results.

I would like to add that all of the individuals that I dealt with in the company were always very professional, friendly and responsive.   This is definitely a group of gentlemen not afraid to take on a challenge.   Once again, the before and after is Amazing!!!!!!!!!

Our experience with Rexrode Remodeling was outstanding. From the initial estimate to the finishing touch, everyone was professional and courteous. They were very responsive and not once were they pushy. They had a genuine interest in making sure everything was exactly the way that we wanted it. The people completing the work were all outstanding. They showed up on time every day and did a beautiful job. They were sure to answer any questions that we had and address any concerns that were raised. You can tell that the owner takes pride in his work. He showed up on the job every day and met with me before the work started to ensure he had everything that we wanted. About a week after the job was complete we identified an issue and called Rexrode Remodeling. In about an hour, the owner Jamie showed up and took a look. He made a call and it was addressed before noon. I would definitely use this contractor again in the future.

They did the job, and we had some knowledgable folks who had told us that while the work is not the prettiest, it is effective with what they did. One of the first days they were working on the project, my husband came home, he was very concerned about the way they were going about it and the effectiveness about it. We called in a structural engineer to draw up sketches that the company followed. It was a difficult process. We had hoped that they were going to replace some windows, we had them order 5 new windows for us. We hoped they would install them for us, but we got to a point where they came out to go through with all, we eventually settled on a price, paid them that balance and have not heard from the again. I sent Jay a few emails asking for a receipt about the first phase and asking for a quote on the next phase. All the initial discussions were good. He knew how to talk to us about what needed to be done. The follow through was not good. They said they were very busy and that they would get to it.

Response from Rexrode Remodeling
"This was a 250 sq/ft pressure treated deck that we built from scratch and attached to the back of the house. We also added a stair stringer for access to the back yard. The customers were very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. We also removed a window from a bedroom, cut the wall out including siding, added a header and installed a new sliding glass door so that they could turn that room into an office with access to the deck. Once finished, we weatherproofed, cased and caulked the door on the outside and finished the drywall/casing inside. The customers were very pleased with the results and said they would call us back when the next project arises!!"

Sales presentation was excellent (knowledge and professionalism), and we chose Rexrode over a much less espensive contract from another popular company (to do virtually the same things). Started when they said they would, worked in bad weather, and finished on time. The carpenter was devoted to doing a good job, seemed to have tons of experience and a very professional work ethic. No surprises, except how incredibly great the deck was! Only complaint is this: communication with the company could be spotty at times. The rep never picked up directly, would not call back very quickly, and might not call back on the line we requested, would end up leaving a message on the phone we couldn't get to. The carpenter had not been given any written work description or specs, so when there was a question, we had to call the rep...... This seemed to be more sloppy than evasive, and in the end there were no real problems. But I would clean this up.
Response from Rexrode Remodeling
"Sorry about the communication issue; the only number we had saved on record for the customer was the cel number which I now understand was not readily accessible from her work. The only question that came up on the job about wrapping the fascia was answered immediately when my carpenter called me. This is our standard operating procedure. We do a site visit in the beginning to get the scope and once the lead carpenter and guys are on-par they take over with the work. If there is a question along the way I, (the Rep), am always just a phone call away!! ; ) Also, we have a site manager that floats around and checks on jobs routinely, delivers materials that the guys might need throughout job, and keeps in contact with customers on a regular basis to see how things are going. This was only a two day job so he wasn't involved on this one however."

My porch is one-storey high and 145 years old. They were excellent. I dealt with the owner and the main guy and every time I had even the smallest issue they took care of it. They were very detail-oriented. They were more affordable than most of the estimates I got. They were very easy to work with. I would hire them in the future.
Response from Rexrode Remodeling
"Thanks for the great review!! This project was located in the Historic District of Baltimore and we had to take great care to make sure we were using materials appropriate for the job. We used true 4x6 Red Western Cedar to restructure the undercarriage of the porch along with random width tongue and groove cedar planking for the porch floor. We had all of the material custom milled and delivered on site. I am so pleased that the customer is thrilled with the end result! We love doing historical restoration work and when a job is complete and looks like it could be 'original' to the structure; you know you've succeeded!! Thanks again and bring us back next year for some more work!"

From the very beginning, the company was a pleasure to work with. The estimates were very fair and although not the cheapest, they went out of their way to make sure we were happy - even going above and beyond on occasion. For example, when the roof of the porch was found to be rotten, they replaced it at no extra charge. if we had any kind of issue, they made sure that the job was done to our satisfaction - not the typical run-around that so many other contractors can give...the old, "I thought you meant..." answer. Been there. No - the opposite. The workers showed up on time, were EXTREMELY professional and pleasant. they worked through the day and were conciencious of us and the neighborhood - no loud radios, cigarette butts everywhere or trash left out. AMAZING! There was only one slight issue - and it involves lead paint removal and clean up. The company needs to educate themselves on this and the dangers of it, especially when it comes to children (mine and my neighbor's) AND the health + safety of their workers, who do nothing to protect themselves from it. Lead paint is a very serious matter and the company needs to address this professionally.
Response from Rexrode Remodeling
"This was another wonderful historic restoration project in the heart of Baltimore. These are the kinds of jobs and customers that we hope to get more of!! We had a lot of custom milled material made including cornice, custom turned balusters, beautifully ornate corbel brackets, exterior sil plate and a custom knee wall window wrap. The old paint was an issue because the project entailed scraping down to bare wood to restore the original finish. We took care not to belt sand anything to avoid fine airborne dust; we only scraped the paint down. We had plastic and tarps down but paint chips did get blown around a bit. We cleaned the site thoroughly after each day of work however. We are making our guys aware of the dangers of lead and we are currently looking into enrolling in the Lead Cert program."
