We bought a condo with an older fireplace, and we asked Carl to inspect it and to advise us whether we should continue to maintain the fireplace or replace it with one that had more fearutes—such as blowers and remote control. Carl took the time to lay out the pros and cons of the options. Based on his advice, we chose to have him clean the fireplace and install a remote. He saved us thousands of dollars.

All I can say is Carl does the work that no other can. After working with several woodstove installers who could/would not get the job done, Carl came in and did the job we needed. All custom work which he performed allowed us to put in the stove we wanted into a place that no others could. thanks Carl!!!!

Carl did a fantastic job! He removed our gas fireplace and installed a wood burning insert. We called a few other companies that said they either flat out couldn’t do it, we would need to hire separate contractors for the removal and if they could do it, it would be in 6 months. Carl got us exactly what we wanted and was able to take care of everything right away. He provided top quality professional work and materials. The insert he recommended is extremely nice and exceeded our expectations. Communication was phenomenal and scheduling and payment was made easy.

Carl did an excellent job. He was very thorough - cleaning and inspecting our condo gas fireplace. He noted that this was obviously the first service for this fireplace. (condo was built in 2003). He found a bare wire inside the fireplace which he fixed. He cleaned all of the soot off the walls and glass. Everything looks excellent. This is the second home in which Carl has serviced a gas fireplace for us. I would highly recommend Carl.

Carl is a true professional. I had a plumber come out to give me a quote on installing gas logs in my original woodburning fireplace and I had a lot of questions about vented vs. non-vented and what was best for my situation. The plumber never even looked into the fireplace or flue. He spent all of 10 minutes with me and then sent me a quote for almost $5000 with no itemization as to what that included. Carl came out and crawled into the fireplace, pulled stuff out of the flue, checked my gas line layout and then spent 2 hours answering my questions and explaining which was the safest and most economic option. I received a detailed quote for the logs, burner and installation for $1600 less than the quote the plumber gave me. Carl spent 5 hours installing the logs and burner and running the gas line. He tested it thoroughly and even built a customized damper for the fireplace flue. The fireplace is absolutely beautiful and I am so pleased. If you want the job done correctly, safely and economically Carl is your man. He truly has a passion for what he does.

Responsiveness and communication were exceptional. It did take a while to get the parts (pandemic) and some components needed to be swapped out causing additional labor, but the original estimate was adhered to and the end result couldn’t be better. I am slightly handicapped and was unable to operate the original controls, but this new system is a dream! Service was very professional and thorough. I would highly recommend this company and plan to use them for annual inspection.

This company worked for us. If you like contracts being done electronically this company works. They responded we set up a time for Carl to inspect the fireplace and gas logs. Carl recommended which gas logs would work for us and he Explain why and how the product works.. We had HG Mechanical (On Angie's List) to install the gas line. We set up a time for Carl to come out and install the fireplace logs. The fireplace looks great.

Amazing. He was fairly busy and Electric Fireplaces are currently backordered. Definitely worth the wait. Highly recommended for this type of work. Had to rip out old Ignis Ethanol Fireplace, cut around stone surround, install new Dimplex XLF50 Ignite Electric FP. Cleaned up and was very professional about his work. Truly a craftsman. And I am very happy about the Dimplex. Comes with an easy to use remote for different color themes, heat settings, temp, sleep mode, and more.

Carl was wonderful. He was recommended to me by a coworker who was also very happy with the gas log he had installed. He installed the gas fireplace insert in one day and provided education about it. He was also able to inspect the gas line and do some electrical work. Very happy with the work.

I was really pleased with the service and professionalism. Carl was very easy to work with and was happy to share everything he knows about pellet stoves with me. He helped me find the best replacement for our home and the install went very smoothly. He made sure to go over every part of the new stove with me before he left.

Carl is a perfectionist and his work shows it. He installed a gas fireplace in our finished basement; built the enclosure and installed the stone veneer finish. He was careful to put canvas on the floor to protect the wood flooring and did all the cutting outdoors to minimize dust. We could not be happier with the final result.

Carl was excellent. He covered and protected my floor around the fireplace before beginning. He then thoroughly cleaned and even spray painted the inside of my fireplace and repaired it totally, when no other company could fix it. He replaced the wall switch that operates the fireplace and now it all looks and works better than it ever has! He spent nearly 2 hours working on it and his price was very, very reasonable. He couldn’t have been nicer or more professional and he completely cleaned up when he was finished. I highly recommend Carl of Fireplaces & Stoves MD to anyone and everyone who would need his services.

We are so glad we hired Carl to replace our old gas fireplace with a brand new one. Carl systematically and carefully removed the old gas fireplace that came with our house when we had it built 26 years ago. Carl was able to remove our mantel and marble with no damage so it could be re-installed around the new fireplace. The new fireplace looks and works great. It's so nice to finally have a fireplace that actually heats the room and looks awesome. Carl is a true professional and does everything the right way!
