My wife and I bought a beautiful 60 year old house last year but found the side and back additions to be lacking in comfort (freezing in the winter) and style (wood paneling and red shag carpet).  We wanted to re-face both rooms and improve climate control and insulation.  I proposed the project to 5 different contractors and Tim from Coastal NRM Builder rose to the top easily.  He was attentive to our plans and had good advice about issues we had not considered.  Most importantly, he we excellent at communication by phone and email.  His price was competitive but not the lowest we got - I chose him because I could tell we'd be able to get a hold of him when we needed to.  His written communication was also clear and detailed.  We had a brief disagreement with an additional charge for some trimwork until I went back to the written contract and realized that the trimwork was explicitly mapped out in the contract.  I happily paid the additional charge, as we were asking for additional work.  And his attention to detail with the trim was impressive!  Paint was crisp and even; tile was laid with attention to minimizing visual distortion from not-quite-true dimensions of the old house.  All the neighbors have complimented us on the great look of the new brickwork from the street too.  We also appreciated that he has a small crew and basically does one job at at time.  This meant that our project got his full attention and was done ahead of schedule.  Very impressive!  Finally, he and his crew were quick to assume responsibility for a ripped couch cushion sustained while moving the furniture around.  They offered to repair it or pay for repairs, which was unnecessary as the piece was insured.  Their willingness to fix the problem was appreciated nevertheless.  Now that we've moved into our new rooms, we're looking forward to remodeling our kitchen in a few years.  We will definitely be using Tim and his crew when the time comes!
