He was creative, energetic, and responsive. He came well recommended for innovative solutions to remodeling problems, and high-quality construction work. Unfortunately, his ideas did not solve the problems that had brought us to him, and he often persisted with a pet idea even after we had explained how it didn't meet our needs. In addition, he did not have a grasp of our budget, and did not seem to consider cost trade offs when proposing ideas. Eventually we realized that he was not going to offer us a price for the whole construction phase, but rather would bill us for time, materials, and subcontractors' expense, with no commitment to the ultimate cost. At this point, we terminated our work with him.
Description of Work: Design for house renovation. We intended to have him do the design and construction. We went through several rounds of design and review, but then decided that his design did not solve the basic problems that had made us decide to remodel. We eventually chose another firm to do the job.
