This company is approachable, understandable, punctual, responsive and reasonably priced.

The whole incident started during the February wind storm that uprooted a large white pine and landed it on the house. As one of the dormers was taken out completely, a large tarp needed to cover the front roof. The only person willing to come out and do the job was Mr Mc McConkey. I do not know what further damage we would have sustained if the gaping hole was not covered by the McConkey crew. Even as they were finishing the job, it began to snow. 
Waiting for the insurance company delayed commencement of actual roof repair. Mr McConkey worked with the general contractor to co ordinate roof repair.
The slate work took two days, we thought it was wonderful how timely and professional the whole thing was. Crew is totally professional, knew what they were doing and did everything to our complete satisfaction. I have already recommended them to other family members. A wonderful company!

I have used this company several times in the past. They are knowledgeable and do good work.

They came out within a couple of days to do an estimate. It was quick and professional. They performed the work within the next week and I have had no problems since, even with all of the heavy rainstorms this summer.

The job was completed on time and within the estimated price with excellent quality of workmanship. We were very pleased with the work performed.

They wer great. The roof looks good. We have had no problems!

They were responsive and honestly, I did not have any complaints. They certainly were very neat and they were creative in doing the work that they did for me. They had to do something on my old house and people don't do the things or use the drip edge as they don't make that anymore. So, they had to be creative on how they performed that particular task. They were very neat in doing the work but also, they had to do the painting which was well done. They were respectful about the plantings around my house and so, they did not break anything. They moved things that were in the way which was good. I felt that they went over my entire roof and they were professional in what they had to say about what my roof needed. They did not just say to start over with a new roof. They did not do that and they were respectful in what they had to say so that we did not run up the bill. It was good.

They are responsive and they do the work really fast.

Work seemed to be done properly and smoothly. Main problems were on discussing work options: two different members of company came to see us on different days. First one was helpful and courteous; the other said the first one hadn't given them adequate info; he then contradicted some of what first one had told us and also argued with us about options - we thought, rudely. We almost didn't hire them, despite their good reputation and competitive price. Fortunately, first one came onsite when work was actually being done. (We still do not know whether our roof leak problems are solved.)

In 1998 McConkey & Sons installed a new, flat roof on our house. Eight years later, the roof developed leaks (the materials had a 10-year warranty). When they came out to look at the problem, they said the roof is leaking because we didn't have it re-coated every 2-3 years. A review of the paperwork confirms our recollection that no one from McConkey ever mentioned periodic maintenance. Now, they are proposing to fix the roof for many thousands, including the option of using one technique that another roofer had told us is illegal in our state. McConkey has since failed to return our calls or otherwise make up for their mistake/fraud, one which now requires us to get another new roof. Avoid McConkey & Sons at all costs.
