One Hour Air Conditioning & Heating

Twice I've called One Hour Air Conditioning and Heating. Last December the heat went out in my condo and they came right away. They said the wire between the inside and outside units was short circuiting. And that this would happen again. We made it a year and it happened again just before New Year's eve. I called them again, and when the technician came out, he said the only way we could get heat was to replace the thermostat and they would come back in a few days to run the new wire. The thermostat was $500+. Because my condo is a rental and I don't live close by, I had to say yes to having them replace it rather than spending $75 to buy one and replace it myself. I was told in advance that the cost to replace the wire would be $700. I assumed that this would be a time consuming job so I agreed. As it turns out, it took 2 technicians just 1 1/2 to do the work. So I've paid over $1200. I called the company to ask why it was so expensive and they said they work from a fixed price list. I appreciate that they came out so quickly but it's not worth having to pay so much for the work.

Money was paid, but services were NOT PERFORMED. the person who came out to check out my system: -- told me that he didn't know what the problem was, even after 2 hours worth of "troubleshooting" -- that I needed a new thermostat, when I just purchased mine less than 7 days prior -- installed a used thermostat on the wall to "test" my system and then told me that I needed to pay full price ($476) for it. -- told me that he would need to purchase a new part for over $1600, but it was actually under warranty. -- told me that even after ordering and installing this $1600 part that he couldnt guarantee that the problem would be resolved. -- Said that he would need to come back with a colleague to better try and diagnose the problem and install the parts that he was telling me to order. **I had a second opinion come out from another company and they diagnosed and fixed the problem within 30 minutes at half of the cost. **I called the company and reported all of this and I was refused a full refund. They said I needed to pay for "the services I received", but clearly I was provided with no service since my problem was left without a diagnosis and without being fixed.

The repairman did the best job he could given the age of our furnace. So, I give this company an A for the repair service they provided. However, once it was determined that we needed to replace our furnace, I discovered that this company's price for a new furnace is much higher than its competition. We eventually got out of our contract because we found another company that was about half the price!

Friday evening I received a call that every landloard dreads, reporting that there was no heat. Early Saturday morning I called One Hour Air and Heat, I'm talking 6:30a am early. The woman who answered was absolutely delightful for such an early hour. She said they would be there some time that day, and it was around 2pm when they arrived. To make a long story short, the problem was a complicated short. And of course, the heat went out again about 1 hour after the tech left. He immediatly returned and fixed the problem but did warn us that it could happen again. That was about 2 weeks ago, and he has called several times since to be sure everything was working ok. He also gave us his cell phone number which is very reassuring when you know the problem could reoccur. (Not their fault, just to be clear.) I would use them again in a heart beat. Also, I was told at the outset that they charge by the job, not by the hour. So there was not extra charge for him to return.

Second time Weve used this company and happy both times. Took their time. Explained everything. Seemed honest and capable. And servicemen are pleasant and professional. Also came on a Sunday! Xmas Eve. Was surprised to get a preventive service on a Sunday. Great customer value!

It went well overall. It has more features than the old one such as a variable speed blower, an electrified filter and a UV ionizer and finally it the supply plenum fits properly onto the furnace which the old one did not. Once the set up installation was done, which took about a day, they came back and spent about another four hours fine tuning it. After Dave and the company head finished the tune up and left we turned it on but couldn't get the burner to come on. Dave came back the next day and said it had been over adjusted and reset the air flow control and fuel supply to settings that would work. Sometimes the settings in the manual are not quite right he said. So now its going great and we're getting good heat and the air quality in the house has improved. We also had a whole house air duct cleaning with the job and were told that the cheapie ones where they cut quarter sized holes in your duct work don't really work except maybe in a superficial way.

Great. Arrived same day as called. Fixed problem within an hour. Nice, professional. Great price.

Brian Johnson was on time, thoroughly checked our heat system, thermostat and heat pump.  Recommended better filter, UV light and duct cleaning.  He even let us know that we had new refrigerant and did not need to replace AC unit.

The contract they were providing was wonderful. 2,000 of repairs anything over 15% off and included plumbing and hot water heater. Also gives you 25,000 for outdoor plumbing.

I first used them because they advertised with Mike Rowe. They lived up to their ads. I have had the same technician, Brian, several times. I like that the technicians seem to work for One-Hour as a career not just a stepping stone. They call the day before to remind you. They call that morning with an arrival time estimate. The technician is clean cut and professional and polite and competent. I use them for my twice a year check-ups and they are consistent in their good service.

My plan covered the service.  A repair was determined and repaired.  All of this was covered under my agreement and I saved $265.00 today.
