 + 2 moreOverall we have always had a very good experience with Young Squared. We are in the process of planning the next big project with them.
Description of Work: We have used Young Squared for two large projects. In our previous home they finished approximately 2000 sq. ft. of unfinished basement. This included installing a kitchen and bathroom. We also had a playroom, bedroom with closet and family room area. We were extremely happy with the quality of work in all areas of this project. Pete and Andy are attentive to every detail and have enough experience to guide a client in the right direction. Even though a client's idea may sound great to the client it might not always be feasible. Pete and Andy will be honest and give you the pros and cons. Our most recent project was gutting and re-doing two bathrooms in our "new" 112 year old house. This entailed major layout changes in one of the bathrooms to make it suit our needs better and we could not be happier with the outcome. Working on a house of this age has unique challenges and Young Squared was certainly prepared to deal with them. They were , again, attentive to every detail, helped us work through design ideas and they always used the highest quality subs. They have worked with many of the sub-contractors on a long-standing basis and have developed very good relationships with them. We find this to be a very important aspect of their business. You do not want sub-contractors in your home where the general contractor does not know the quality of their work. With Young Squared it never feels like "strangers" are in your home. I believe many people have sticker shock when it comes to the price tag on these major projects. Our experience has been that you definitely get what you pay for in this arena. I can almost guarantee if you go with the least expensive contractor to save money you will either be disappointed with the outcome or you will wind up paying more in the end. This is your house you should do it right in the first place. We always know where we stand price wise with Young Squared from the minute we receive the contract. If you stay with in the limits of their generous budgets you will not go over the final number on the contract. Pete and Andy are friendly, honest, and professional. We would recommend them to our closest friends and we do!

 + 4 moreInitial preparation for this job involved getting 3 proposals from 3 different companies. Young Squared's proposal, while not the least expensive, was the one we chose based on professionalism, thoroughness, and reasonable price. The owners, Pete Young and Andy Young (not related to each other) are meticulous craftsmen. They work under the premise that their estimate for a job is not going to be the least expensive for a job, but they are so thorough and do such high quality work that unless the client changes the job in some way, they rarely have to included extra charges for anything. They would rather do a job the right way than the cheap way. They were prompt and courteous while finishing our basement. They showed respect for the rest of our home while they were working here, as well. This was very important to us, and was a nice surprise. The job site was kept as clean as possible. They completed the job on time and under budget. When a subcontractor was used, one of them was on the job site as well. The quality of workmanship exceeded anything we had anticipated. We will definitely be using them again as we are moving to a new to us home. Think This Old House. They will be expanding the back of the house, renovating the kitchen and all the bathrooms, as well as anything else we can think of.
Description of Work: Young Squared LLC finished an unfinished, partially framed basement to include 2 large rooms, a bedroom, a full kitchen, a laundry room, and a full bathroom. 3 areas were left as storage rooms/utility rooms. Total area finished was approximately 1100 sq feet.
