.As always, we found the company to be very responsive and professional. Voicemails get a  callback within 24 hours, and setting up the appointment was easy, within a week of the initial call. The Company (father and son) are very friendly and knowledgable, and will go the extra distance. Their truck is spotlessly clean and well-kept!  We knew our septic tank badly needed cleaning, and as it turned out needed some extra service. The work was done well and the surcharge was more than reasonable - we were relived that the tank was now up to par. Access to the tank is down a forested hill and this too was handled with no problems.
Highest possible recommendation - we will use them as long as they are in business.

Mr. Harris is very punctual. He took the time to educate me on all of the things that I should know about the system, which I greatly appreciate. He is very professional and efficient. I truly appreciate the service and have scheduled annual checks with this company.

PS: Two years ago before we were an Angie's list member, HARRIS SEPTIC SYSTEM installed an additional huge cement Septic Tank System and also installed two new Drainage Fields in a hill, requiring a Bulldozer, and a Bobcat. It was a difficult installation. They navigated among a mature Forest full of Trees climbing up and down a hill like goats. Mr. Thomas Harris Sr., his son Dwayne did an exceptional job. We would definitely use Harris Septic System again for routine cleaning and for any repairs. Job well done. An and quot;Aand quot; rating all the way.

I do not doubt that the septic tank was cleaned out;however the customer service and lack of communication both with me and within this business was awful. We chose Harris based on the great reviews in Angie's List. I called on Tuesday morning and the person who answered said they would be out between 10 and 12 on Wednesday. I took off from work because I wanted to be around for this. When nobody showed by 2:00 I called and left a message. At 5:00 I received a call from the owner, who had made the appointment, apologizing. He said he would make it up to us and would be there first thing the next morning. By 11 a. m. the next morning, nobody showed up. I called and after I left my message on the recorder a woman picked up. She didn't seem to know anything about it, but said she would contact the truck operator and call me and quot;right back. and quot; They had my cell number and I kept the phone with me all day. I went to work because I couldn't lose anymore time. By 4:30 I had heard nothing so I called again. The same woman answered the phone and said he had been out that afternoon and left the bill in the door. When I told her he said first thing in the morning, she said he told her he would get there later. When I reminded her that she had said she would call right back that morning, she said she didn't know what to tell me. Then she said the truck operator had called but I didn't answer. Believe me my phone shows no evidence of any attempts to call. This was the first time I had selected a service based on recommendations from this list. We are really disappointed with the poor customer service and lack of communication of this business. I don't see how they stay in business and will definitely warn others not to use them.

They came out immediately to drain and assess the septic system. Within a week they reconfigured it so that it could work properly. Similar work was done 17 years ago for a higher cost. Very reasonable and efficient.

I called around. He was the best price and was able to come the same day. Showed up and pumped my septic, said everything looked good. He made it easy.

I called them and they were very responsive. They came out in one day, arrived 15 minutes early, and did a fine job. They made no mess and I was very pleased with the work. I would recommend them to others.

Harris Septic has done work for us once in the past and does our pumpouts. 5 years ago, our septic failed inspection before we moved. Harris replaced the entire system which was partly under the asphalt driveway. They explained everything very clearly to us ahead of time, and Tom and Dwayne (father and son) did the job at a better price than we had quoted from another company. They were careful to take up the minimum asphalt necessary, minimizing the paving repairs that we knew that we would have to do afterwards. The drainfield placement was tough, given that it had to run between the house and the driveway, on a hill, close to underground electric and some decorative trees, but they did it, with a minimum amount of yard excavation. Both gentlemen are great to work with and really know their stuff!

I called Harris Septic and received a quote of $230 for pumping out our septic tank. This was the best price I got for this service - I called three other companies. Dwayne Harris and his assistant arrived promptly for the appointment. Dwayne explained everything that he was doing and answered all my questions. He gave me the phone number for the Baltimore County office where I could obtain a copy of the site plan for our septic system. They were efficient and courteous and cleaned up everything after they were finished. I recommend Harris Septic and would use them again.

I had two problems with the septic system. One, the drain pipe from the house to the septic tank was partially plugged. Two, the 8and quot; of rain from Tropical Storm Lee caused the drain field to flow back into the septic tank causing a backup of the septic tank. Roto Rooter failed to unplug the drain pipe and then I called in my non-emergency plumber (Brewer in Timonium) who successfully augured out the drain pipe.

While these problems were going on, I received a quote from Tom Harris to excavate and replace 50 feet of drain pipe from the house to the septic tank. Tom's quote was a very reasonable $1,350. Roto Rooter, by contrast, gave me a quote of $4,214 for the same job.

Although I do not currently need to replace the drain pipe, I found Tom Harris to a very gracious and wonderful gentleman. He has over the 45 years experience in the septic service field, he is an expert and he is very customer oriented. Also, my plumber, Brewer Plumbing in Timonium, strongly recommends Tom Harris for septic work.

If I do have problems with my septic system requiring remedial work, I will certainly call on Tom Harris.

Harris responded promptly to my call, came within hours to give an estimate and discuss what they thought was needed. The start of the job was not time critical as the pipe had been snaked and was running freely at the time. Based on how far from the clean-out the auger was when it broke through the clog, I indicated that I thought the problem was just before the entrance to the septic tank. He agreed to start the excavation from there and only charge for the amount of replacement pipe needed. They came with equipment a couple of days later (having needed to wait for Miss Utility) and completed the job in several hours with minimum disruption.

They were very responsive, open about their costing and billing and pleasant to work with throughout.

We have had them before. They do a good job and we never have had any problems. Only improvement would be if , when you call, you could speak with somebody who had the authority to actually make an appointment. We played a lot of phone tag.

This family run company came out several times prior to excavating to mark off the site to comply with the specifications as determined by a prior perk test that another company had performed. Harris' estimate for this job was not the lowest, but was right in line with several others received. Harris was highly recommended by an acquaintance in the neighborhood. They discussed the layout several times with the County Inspector, and made sure they got it right before they dug. The father, son and grandson did their best to avoid damaging an adjacent garden and trees. They even helped relocate some plantings so they wouldn't be destroyed. They made sure we were still able to use our plumbing during installation which spanned several weeks due to weather and the holidays. Our only suggestion is they be more proactive in notifying the homeowner on when they were working.

OUR OVERALL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS CO WAS VERY GOOD, THEY EXPLAINED EVERYTHING THEY WERE DOING AND WHY NEW PARTS WERE NEEDED BEFORE THEY WENT FUTHER WITH THE JOB. I RECOMMENDED THEM TO MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Trying to have extensive work done in a very short time prior to moving was stressful. Tom Harris was very professional and efficient, and performed the job well.
