We could not be more unhappy about South Mountain’s recent acquisition of Kilby Cream’s milk home delivery service/routes. Every week we have to dump at least one or two half gallons of spoiled milk. This morning I dumped three of the four containers from this weeks order. We had Kilby’s milk delivered for years and never had to dump anything. We have an insulated milk crate (specifically made for milk delivery) on our front porch and the milk sits for about 45 minutes before bought inside. When my wife called a few weeks ago to complain, she was told it was our fault for not having a proper container into which the delivery could be made. We try to support local farms as much as possible but we will no longer be purchasing from South Mountain Creamery. Please seek another farm to buy your milk!

This was a great service for the first several months we have used it, but it has really fallen off a cliff in the last two months. They have delivered the wrong product on at lest two occasions, and when called on it their responses have been unprofessional and discourteous. Delivery times started slipping way past what they have reliably been, to the point where delivery is made long after everyone in the household has left. So the milk spoils. In response to complaints customer service has alternated between insultingly dismissive and completely non-responsive. For instance, one and quot;customer serviceand quot; representative tried to disclaim fault by referencing a 15 hour delivery window and saying that and quot;we ask the customer to have ice packs , ice or frozen bottles of water in their coolers.and quot; (This is, of course, bogus - they have never asked us to do that, and they only warn in any regular emails about leaving separate coolers out for ice cream - something I don't usually order - and never warn that their delivery times may arbitrarily change).
There are must more cost-competitive services that haven't decided now is a good time to start hating their customers, like your CSA or your local farmer's market. Stay away from SMC until they get their act back together.

I have deliveries on a bi-weekly basis (fresh milk in glass bottles - and a dozen farm fresh eggs). Once a month, I have the dairy also deliver a pound of fresh salted butter.
The milk is amazing - creamy and wonderful, as is the butter. The eggs are also much better tasting then store bought eggs. Deciding what to have delivered/changing delivery is also very easy. Each route is given a specific delivery day (Mine is Thursday) - and the website allows you to customize your delivery (recieving items once a week, bi-weekly, monthly, or just once.)
They have a pretty large variety of products:
I've tried: Milk, eggs, butter, yogurt drink (interesting), Pork (the sausage is soo flavorful and wonderful. Really good scrapple also!)
I haven't tried yet: Ice cream, Yogurt, beef, chicken, turkey, seafood, lamb, goat, cheese, cream cheese, bread, and more.

Great home dairy, meat, and bread delivery. We have been extremely happy with them and their milk is delicious, even better that you actually know where your milk is coming from and can even go see the creamery! Highly recommended!

South Mountain Creamery delivers milk (in glass bottles!), yogurt, bread and fresh meats to us each week. The quality is superb and the prices are competitive. There is a $3.50 delivery fee per week. The milk and other dairy products are delicious, and the meat is raised with no growth hormones. The ground lamb is our favorite, but I have also been please with the turkey sausages and turkey bacon. The online ordering process has improved in 2008, and it is easy to manage standing and one-time orders online.
