He's married to one of my friends. We needed someone and we had a lot of people in here. There was a big snow storm and he was the only one who could get here.

I hired Universal Mechanical to install a new home air conditioning unit in 2014 and they did a wonderful job. Luck would have it that the compressor on my new unit died on me and the labor warranty was up. I called JC (owner and technician) and he immediately responded out and diagnosed the problem. The new compressor had to be shipped from out of state so we had to wait a couple of days for delivery. Once the part arrived, JC immediately responded to my home and installed the new compressor. Even though the labor warranty was up, JC changed the compressor and didn't charge me anything. JC has continuously demonstrated his professionalism each and every time we met and this was no different. I highly recommend Universal and I will continue to use them when I need service!!

It went absolutely flawlessly.  I found Universal Mechanical on Angie's list last year and have been very pleased with the service ever since.  I needed to have a pressure valve replaced last summer so I called JC to do that as well   So when it was time to have the service done this fall, I did not hesitate to call him.  He is prompt -- he comes when he says he is coming.  He is thorough, completing clean-up after the job is done.  He and his assistant are courteous and are good stewards of the home.   I would not hesitate recommending him to family and friends and feel confident that he would serve them as well as he has me.

Very professional and got the job done.  Our air conditioner broke down in the middle of a very hot week and Universal was willing and able to come and fix it in very short time.  Strongly recommend!

Contractor was excellent, immediately knew the problem and fixed it.  i was most pleased with the service and would definitely recommend them.  At least they knew what they were doing, which I cannot say from the previous ones I had.  Such a problem getting good people.  therefore I recommend them highly.  
We are at the mercy of contractors who do not know their business.  In this case, it was painless and contractor made it simple for me.  I did appreciate this.  They stuck to their timeframe and this was also important to me.  However I did not push them, but let them develop their own schedule which is important during these heat periods.  Lots of people call, for sure.

We chose this deal because we are new in the area and needed a trustworthy company that offered a heat pump specific checkup.  We were contacted promptly and easily scheduled a visit within a few days.  The visit took about an hour.  They were courteous, professional, and their suggestions on the system and maintenance were helpful.

JC was able to provide service the day before the storm which was before the already scheduled appt. But because of the predicted storm the next day and the cold weather he was able to come the day before and provide the service we needed to get the upstairs emergency going again when we needed it.

Calling and scheduling and appointment with Universal Mechanical Services was pretty fast!  JC was very responsive and walked us through everything we would need and the cost of the units.  The weekend he purchased the units also happened to be the weekend that MD offers tax free on large ticket items and he reflected that in the price (a $300 savings!!).
Our installation was scheduled the week of heavy snow and was thus rescheduled a few times, which is the only reason we rated punctuality a B.  The day of the appointment they were on time and got to work immediately.  They completed the work quickly (it was an all day job) and left everything extremely clean!  We had a blown breaker in the panel and they even fixed that for us before they left so we could use our heat!  It was freezing outside!
JC even explained how to sign up for the 10 year warranty through the manufacturer and walked us through how to work our new thermostat.
We loved them and would use them again in a heat beat and plan on using them for our yearly maintenance to make sure everything is in working order.

I was out of the service area, so I didn't have the work done.

He was very professional and concerned with my issue. I only requested a refund because the home is out of the service area. I was very pleased with his professionalism.

My heat pump and humidifier were installed 11 years ago by another local company and has been maintained by them twice a year since.  But this year, now that it is out of warranty, I decided to shop around and I am sure glad I did.
JC answered the phone when I called and he immediately knew what I had and what I needed done just by telling him the model number.  I explained that I was looking for someone to do the fall maintenance on my units and I had seen him on Angie's list.  Most maintenance packages don't include the humidifier so I asked for a price from him.  He told me the price so I scheduled the service call.  
 JC came himself the next morning at exactly 8am as he said he would.  He went right to work and serviced both units in a timely fashion.  He was polite, knowledgeable, friendly and neat.  I felt very confident he knew exactly what he was doing.   He did all that needed to be done and charged me nearly $60 less than the competitor I had been using.  Additionally, I felt he was much more thorough than they ever were.  
I would highly suggest using this company for fair pricing and a great job.

JC (owner and installer) was very professional throughout the entire process. He came to my residence and gave me estimates on 3 different units. He also gave me several options to finance the job. Once I decided on going with Universal, he responded back several days later and did a great job installing my units. I highly recommend Universal and I will be calling JC in the future for maintenance of my systems.

He cleaned the chimney really well and far up. He tested everything and changed whatever needed to be changed. He came on time and his quality is just impeccable. He was just great!

He took the time to explain to me how good of a condition my boiler was is in. Yesterday, I had called someone who did this for me last year. They set up the appointment and when the technician came he advised me that they dont do that service at all and maybe the technician last year did something extra for me.

He did a good job, was very thorough. He doesnt try to sell you on things you dont need. He is very knowledgeable about boilers.

Called at 1 pm to get service call for my home AC which was blowing hot air. The owner J.C. answered the phone and was verry helpful. Told me they would come after 5 pm. At 5 25pm J.C. Called and said they be here by 6pm and they were. Completed the job in 1hour . J.C found the problems quickly and gave me an estimate to fix it if solved the problem. Repair was made and I was charged the estimate of 185.00. I was very pleased with the professionalism and quality of the work.

JC identified a viable replacement regulator via photos sent to him. He was able to locate a new regulator and stub in the replacement unit the very next day. Universal Mechanical Service has provided other timely repairs for rental units I own as well as work on my primary home. JC is very professional and an experienced and competent craftsman. I highly recommend his services.

JC was phenomenal!! I contacted the company this early a.m. to see if he could fit me in same day. JC stated he was w/ another client but yes he could make it over shortly. He indeed honored his word, called prior to arrival, & once arrived immediately diagnosed & addressed the issue! He was dependable, reliable, & affordable! Thanks JC for your assistance
