It was a pleasure dealing with May's. They were courteous and came rapidly to do the work. Our faucet could not be unmounted and required a missing part. Marc promptly obtained it and came the next day to finish the job. I would highly recommend.

Last spring I had a case of leakage with our Delta faucets both in the bathtub and in the sink after almost 20 years of usage. Our condo manager referred me to the May’s Pluming. I got new sets of faucet cartridge from Delta and then I set an appointment with John; he was a very pleasant and likable person, he did the job very quickly and left a very positive impression of himself and his work on me. With in almost a month, however, the warm water faucet of the sink start leaking again, and after few days the water started to flow so hard that we had to close the pipe. I called Delta and mentioned the problem, asking if their product was defective. They said “No! But you should ask your plumber if he did it right.” They send me another new cartridge; john came in and changed the faucet. He blamed the quality of Delta’s faucets and parts. He did not charge me. But within almost another month the same hot water faucet stared to leak again. Annoyed, I called delta and complained about their parts, they kept telling me that they have had no such cases with their other customers using these parts, adding that the problem is not the faucet, because I have had no problem with the bathtub or the cold-water faucets. Delta sent me a new cartridge again and John came in changed the washer in only few minutes and charged me another $165.00 and left. I talked about this with friends and family, and all were telling me look at the part that benefited from this situation, and all pointed their fingers at John. I have to add that Delta generously sends their parts free of any charge.

I actually had this work done almost 8 month ago. Decided to write this review because every time I go down to the basement and see the new hot water tank - it gives me a bit of heartburn reminding me of my overall experience with the plumber. The plumber is actually one of the partners in the company.
Let me start by saying the larger hot water heat was installed and works. Calling and making appointment was quick, easy, and professional. This may be rated as a good or excellent by others. However my overall experience was less than desirable. (1) The plumber took many many cigarette breaks. This seems to have extended the work by an additional 4 hours. The plumber was there all day. (2) The work request also included replacing the guts of 2 toilet tanks. I purchased 2 toilet tank component kits from the local hardware store. For some reason the plumber only replaced a few components and took the remaining kit components with him. Meanwhile both toilets continued to run water - when flushed right after he left. Frustrating.

On the morning of 1-8-2014 the water in the upstairs bathroom shower wouldn't work. We called Mays plumbing and he mentioned to put a hair dryer on the lines cause they could be frozen. He also told us to turn off the water if we heard water dripping or running excessively. We did what he said and it prevented a major mess in our house. The temperature did drop to the single digits that night. He stated if that didn't work to call him back. We called him back and he showed up that same evening and he fixed the problem. We will definitely call John Mays again if we have any other plumbing issues.

I'm not a plumber, hense, needing one. John replaced my water heater several years ago. This time replaced all of my drain pipes under the house and repaired two sinks. I don't know what plumbing services go for, so I thought a little high. John explains every step. Very friendly and helpful. He was there when promised; needed to come back to finish under the house and was back and completed within the next couple of days.I was very happy with the work and would highly recommend this company.

Contractor did not arrive in the timeframe given. Got delayed and I had to call. I had another appointment I had to go to. He went on to another appointment. Once he arrived to my house, he did excellent work.

Besides some minor confusion about the appointment time, the service provide was great. John was very friendly and explained to me exactly what was wrong and what it would take to fix it. He also showed me how my plumbing system worked which was very useful being a new homeowner. All of the work was completed in a couple of hours and was exactly the quoted price for the job. Upon completion, he reviewed the finished work with me to show me it was complete and how the new equipment operated.

Although John had a full schedule that day, he fit us in at 4PM on a Friday. I was initially worried that we would get poor service that late in the day, especially on a Friday, but John arrived and cheerfully got to work. We explained the sudden leak in our ceiling the day before. He checked the toilet above and noticed a very slow leak, and after checking valves, etc., it was determined that a fitting had corroded and was on the verge of true disaster. A slight nudge and the whole supply hose would have dislodged. Parts on the truck, he repaired valve and hose, then tightened the two pieces to the toilet, and even tightened the toilet seat. He then attended to all the small things I could think of, like clogged screens in faucets that I could not unscrew myself, in bathroom and kitchen, and then took a look at our leaky exterior faucets, removed them and examined them for possible replacement parts. They were old and unusual, but he took photos and will research what options we have. All in all, fast, efficient, pleasant, communicative, and thorough, addressing all the plumbing issues we've been saving for the right person(plumber)! We now feel we have a local plumbing source for repairs of all kinds.

This was a true harry homeowner job gone BAD!!! We had a clogged toilet that we first tried to clear with the plunger. That didn't work and someone told us about this great stuff that takes care of any clog. Should have known with all the warnings that it wouldn't be safe to use on our 40 year old pipes. Needless to say we not only had the clogged toilet, we now had a pipe that leaked. I had used Mays Plumbing the summer before for replacing a hot water heater and replacing some outdoor faucets. I called them immediately. Mark came out and showed us that we not only had the 1 pipe leaking in the place we found, but it was leaking in another spot and another pipe that connected to that one was leaking as well. We discussed how much it would cost and how long it would take. He went to work right away and fixed it all in a couple of hours. He had one problem when one of the pipes dropped down on him, but was able to fix it without a problem. He ran the water in the tub and sink to make sure everything was draining properly. What we didn't know was when that pipe dropped it was also connected to stopper in the tub. Its an old tub and the stopper was screwed to the side of the tub. When the pipe dropped it pulled the 2 screws right through the stopper, but the stopper still was still fixed to the side of the tub. None of us even saw that and believe me I looked at everything. Needless to say when my daughter took a shower the next day there was water all over the floor in the basement. After going in and running the water for 10 minutes we couldn't figure out what was going on. Finally I touched the water stream and noticed the 2 holes where the screws once were. I called Mark and he came over right away and apologized for the inconvenience. He replaced the stopper and fixed everything at no charge. I am so glad that I found May's Plumbing. I won't call anyone else for my plumbing needs!!!

The thing that impressed me the most was that John Mays came to our home and described in detail how he was going to solve the problem with the leaks while some other plumbers wanted to phone in their estimate without ever coming to the house. His met the cost and time on his estimate and we've used him for all of our plumbing since. During a basement bathroom renovation, our contractor agreed to use Mays Plumbing on our request. After seeing the sort of work that they did on installing the connections for the new sink, the contractor now uses Mays for all of his plumbing installations.

Every time I used them they were professional, quality of work was great, they cleaned up after themselves, if they were going to be late, they called and although their prices are a little high, I am getting a master plumber. I will continue to use them while I live in the MD area.

Called and scheduled and yes, the tech did an OK job, but by no means was he in any hurry. Instead of replacing the washers/gaskets for the outside faucet leak, he replaced the faucet. Not a big deal, nor any trouble to get to since the backside was accessible in the basement ceiling. Just took him a long time. Additionally, he did not clean up the plastic and wood shavings. If I HAD to hire them again, I would, but since I don't have to, I will be looking for another plumber. Though the quality is good and no problems since the repairs, I felt these guys know they are getting paid by the hour and will take as long as they can to do the job.

He got here at 9:15 a.m. I showed him the work I needed done. He let me know he didn't have the 2-way hose connector on the truck, and that he would have to go to a local hardware store to purchase it. Which he did. I was charged for 3 hours labor. But, personally, I felt he spent a good 1/2 hour looking for something that would work in the truck and another 35 minutes leaving and going to the hardware store. He completed the work at 12:45 p.m. Which to me I should of only been charged, at the most, for 2-1/2 hours labor. I was also charged a $60 travel fee for coming to my home. Before you use this plumber, make sure he knows exactly what you have and need replacing before he gets to your house.

I purchased a new kitchen faucet after the Delta pull out faucet (which I had for only a year) broke off in my hand. The owner himself came out to do the job. He made an honest effort to fix the broken faucet before he installed my new one (he wanted me to get a refund for the new faucet I bought if possible). Anyway, he installed the new faucet correctly and it works perfectly.
