ELECTRIC CONNECTION

It started off fine -- the electrician showed up on time, was friendly and professional, and completed the installation & wiring as planned. He contacted BGE to complete the cable connection as required in Baltimore City, but when BGE came to my house they weren't able to do their job because, as they said, my electrician had not attached the exterior cable properly as required by city code. When I called the electrician to tell him the situation, he argued that he had done the work properly and that BGE didn't know what they were talking about. I won't bore you with all the details, but I spent three months in endless back-and-forth with BGE and the electrician. The electrician was very unresponsive, only returned my calls periodically, lied to me about having not received my messages and about having left messages for me and for BGE, became very unpleasant toward the end, and continued to say that he'd done the job and that I had to deal with BGE. Unfortunately I had already paid him in full, which I realize was my mistake. Anyway, I finally reached a senior manager at BGE who got personally involved (all BGE staff I dealt with were very pleasant and helpful, by the way), and finally after many months, the electrician grudgingly and with some hostility came back to re-route the cable (at his own cost). I've never posted a truly negative report on Angie's List, and I feel somewhat bad doing so for this guy, but I feel compelled to send out a warning. He seems like a generally good person and I hope he improves his service to his customers.

Steve Perna is a really great electrician who takes the time out to make sure the customer is always right and satisfied with his work. He won't show up in any fancy uniform, but when he does show up, you can bet it will be prompt and to do the job right. I am very satisfied with the work he did on our deck extension. We felt the price he charged us was reasonable and will use him again.
