ALC Contractors did an excellent job. They were punctual, clean, pleasant to interact with, and based on the first 6 months living in the new space, the craftsmanship has been excellent and durable. The home is a historical one and the crew was able to very closely match off of the woodwork and trim installed to the original home in 1902. If it were not for the new wood floor, and the fresh look, you would not easily be able to tell that the addition was recent.
The estimate for the job was very good. We went over by ~ 10% as we had anticipated. This was due in part to tile & fixture selections for the kitchen and bathrooms, and for crown molding that I had not asked be included in the original estimate. There were also a few unanticipated costs that one is likely to identify on a project of this scale and when dealing with a historical home. Andy Lohmeyer was able to trouble shoot these issues well and the solution always seemed very fair. I appreciated that he was not defensive when we were talking through them, which made the whole interaction much more pleasant. He knows his business, and the skill sets needed to do quality work, well.
I would like to make a special note about the team. They were friendly, sensitive to our need to exist in the home while they did the work, and always very professional. To move out of the home for 8 - 9 months would have been a significant hardship for us, as would living in the home for 8 - 9 months w/o a kitchen. The first thing ALC did was move our old kitchen appliances (range, sink, & dishwasher) into the existing butler's pantry. So, for all but 1 - 2 weeks of the project, we had a fully functional kitchen. What an amazing convenience!!
We fully trusted them to be in the house and protective of the site when we were not home.
They clearly took pride in the work and we would hire them again.
