Pluses and minuses. Estimate in Feb, signed contract for work at beginning of March, work not done until begging of May. Out of fairness there was a large wind storm and a few days of clean-up after a snowfall in March. They did a nice job of what they trimmed; however on the front maple, which was suppose to be pruned up to 16' to 18' to allow more sunlight this was not fully done. I had to go back myself and prune further. Owner of NH was honest about a large tree likely dying, and it be a waste to do the small pruning that had been contracted. Instead he generously cut some additional branches that I had---as an "exchange" for the work not being done on the dying tree. Will have to see through a couple of other estimates about the cost of the removal of the dying tree compared to the price received from North Hill to make a decision about further hiring for tree work.

They did a great job and protected my lawn. The work area was all the way at the end of the yard. I was concerned about my yard being torn up. They used protection and my yard was undamaged.

Due to busy time of year and weather, it took quite a while to get the work actually performed - but they were up front about this when I contacted them. I used a deal for a day of work by a crew and the work performed was more than satisfactory. The deal cost less than any quotes I had just for the removal of the large and 2 smaller trees, and they knocked out quite a bit more than that. In the day of work they removed a large tree, several small trees and a large amount of the large downed limb debris at the back of my property.

Purchased a day of tree service. It was difficult to get scheduled quickly as they were very busy, but this was made known from the beginning. They accomplished everything I wanted done and even managed to knock out a bit more of the downed limbs than I had feared in their day. I was more concerned with the removal and chipping than the cleanup and they did a good job getting to as much of it as they could.

I opened the door to the back yard one morning, and saw that one of my older trees, at least four stories high, had split itself down the middle of it's trunk sometime during the night. One half of the tree had landed in a crook of another, only slightly smaller (and mostly dead) tree, saving the roof of the neighbor behind me, and the other half was leaning over the street toward another neighbor's house in a terrifying fashion. To make matters worse, all of this was only 8 or ten feet from live power lines that cross the yard. Matt was one of several companies that came to look things over. He was genuinely nice and helpful, and his price, although not LOW exactly, was lower than the other companies that were available for such an immediate service. (The highest quote was more than $1500 higher.) He and his team, including a crane and a couple of guys climbing with chainsaws, arrived promptly in the morning, and got to work. They did such a great job that they found themselves ahead of schedule, and they removed BOTH trees for just over the price quoted for the first. They were all very efficient as well as friendly, and left me with a clean, if sunnier, yard. Matt was kind enough to set terms that worked for both of us, and was very understanding of the financial burden such an unexpected situation created. He was also willing to suggest a replacement varietal for the trees I had removed, so that I could regain my shade and privacy, without recreating the problem situation years down the road. Matt (and, therefore North Hill Tree Experts) will always be at the top of my list for any tree-related project, and I would recommend them to anyone.

They haven't done all the work, but I am very pleased with them so far. Matt came out and looked at all the trees on our property and gave us good advice on what we could do and should do. We have needed to put off the work for other reasons and they were straightforward with us about the time frame for the work.
Was on vacation when my sister-in-law, who was staying in the house, called to say that a large branch had fallen and was hanging on another branch over the house and back deck. I called and left a voicemail with Becky to see if they could get out to deal with the branch, and they said they would try. Then I got a message that they would be there the next day (Saturday) to do the work. They got the branch down and trimmed the rest of the tree, even as it was raining with Thunderstorm warnings in the area. Matt even seemed apologetic for not trimming the rest of the trees at the same time because of the weather.
Great guy and great company. I highly recommend them.

After calling and arranging to get a quote for removal of the tree, I was quoted a decent price for removing the dead tree. The price also included an extra charge for stump grinding and/or at the very least taking the stump down to ground level. On the day of removal when I came home from work, there was a 2' stump left at the tree site. Since they determined that the stump could not be removed as quoted, I expected that the stump removal part of the cost to be returned to me. However, once I called them to let them know about the results, they investigated and advised me their employees said the stump could not be removed. I have not received any return of the extra cost that I paid for the stump removal and grinding.

On the written proposal we provided to you, we included a note as follows: “There will be a section of the tree we can't remove because it has grown to into the fence. We will also only be able to grind part of the stump out. The machine can't get within six inches of the fence. We will also need access to the alley in the rear.” Once we received your signed proposal accepting the prices and terms and conditions, we scheduled and performed the work. We did remove the tree and stump as quoted and just to ensure the job was done correctly, the owner stopped by your property a few days later. We are sorry there was a misunderstanding that a section of the tree and stump would remain but we did make every effort to communicate this prior to the work being done and following up afterwards."

Mitchell Tree (previous name) came to our house and inspected our trees (we have many). They told us about each tree and what services they could perform to make them healthier. Finally, they talked about which services made most sense (balancing finance and tree health). We choose some, and put some off to see how the condition progressed.
Mitchell never made us feel as if we needed to spend any money. They gave us the information and let us make the best decision for our situation.

We received the estimate for this work a couple of months before the work was completed; at the time we were told that because our job was so small, it would be a number of weeks so it could be fit in between other larger jobs. The Christmas and New Year holidays also came in between proposal and completion, so we don't fault North Hill for the delay. On the day of the work, they arrived early and were kind enough to start work without knocking on the door first (we're retired and don't get up early). The job was completed swiftly, professionally, and all debris was carted off the property. The estimates we received for this work ranged from $375 down to the $210 we were charged by North Hill. In this case, we believe that the lowest price contractor was also the best.

As shown by my ratings, Matt Mitcheltree and crew of two additional men performed an outstanding pruning and removal of limbs as proposed and requested. Crew was very careful of our property and completed the total tree service in about four hours. Matt explained the details of what was done and the reasons for such to our total satisfaction. Clean up was exemplary. Will be our tree service people in the future with highest recommendations.

Chris and Miley showed up @2:00 and were done by 3:30. They took out dead wood, raised the tree by removing lower branches and that took a lot away from my neighbor's yard without damaging the trees. Very pleased with the work and the price. They cleaned up my yard and made sure my neighbor's yard was free of debris. I had 4 estimates and theirs was the lowest. Rain held up the scheduling of the job. Other company wanted me to wait until January. I was pleased with the other companies' representatives as well. The company phone rep kept me abreast of my job status. I'd use them again. I'd advise removing all items near the tree because of falling branches. I neglected to do that. Nothing broken. Curiosity got the best of me and I had to watch. Make sure you don't get as close as I did. Lol. Regarding punctuality, we didn't have a firm time because of all the rain delays.

Buddy was knowledgeable, professional and pleasant to deal with; he gave lower of two estimates to remove tree, did not sell extra work as other tree service did; expert removal of tree; crain operator and trimmers very skillful; crain lifted every piece of very large tree; work done quickly; very nice clean up; all workers pleasant and industrious; a very positive experience; did not have some oher minor trimming done as I got lesser estimate for this work
