See above for all the work done - the work was superb and every contractor showed up when expected, was friendly, professional and of high quality. The job took this long because we did it in stages so we wouldn't be displaced from our home. I can't say enough how amazing the knowledge and work was, and how many little things we asked them to correct along the way - like a stopped up sink in another part of the house, or whatever. Those requests were never met with resistance and always got completed with as much quality and professionalism as the rest of the job. Richard worked with us to re-design some things that wouldn't have looked right if done as designed, and helped us choose cabinets and fixtures and so forth. The worst part of the job was the beginning when Baltimore County changed its mind from the original inquiry about setbacks to the submission of the plans, based on our lot shape (triangular), and made us go through a variance process. That ended up delaying us by 3 months, over a summer. That was no fault of the architect or the contractor, but both helped out with it and managed to remain way calmer than I was.
Description of Work: Richard provided us with an estimate based on the architect's plans. His estimate was the most thorough, down to materials, and also the lowest of the three we got. Work began in September 2010. Building Your Dream constructed a detached one car garage, added a roof over one entrance, re-did the porch roof over another entrance and re-did both entrances to bluestone surface and changed the support columns. They remodeled the former attached 2-car garage into a rec room with closets. They removed a furnace from the crawl space under the house, installed a new high-efficiency furnace in part of the former garage space and re-did all the duct work for both HVAC systems to create true 2-zone heating and cooling. They added a master bath and walk-in closet off a room on our first floor and added dormers out the front of one upstairs room and a loft-type space and full bath off the back between the two upstairs rooms. Wood floors were installed in the walk-in closet and upstairs new spaces. Tile was installed on the floors and shower walls in both new bathrooms, the master bath with heated tile. All spaces that were worked on were also re-painted and cracks/irregularities fixed. Many electrical and plumbing issues were corrected along the way.
