Everybody on the work crews was friendly, I had no qualms about leaving them alone in the house. But I never knew when - or if - they would show up or leave. This was inconvenient because the house was unlocked. Communication was a problem. I was not given full information about the job and had to call to find out what was going on; the company did not call me to keep me informed - for example, that fixed glass had to be ordered after frame was erected and factory-made windows were installed. A two-week hiatus before completion became more because my order was not delivered when expected. Then, a helper evidently tripped and broke one of the special-order windows, delaying completion again. The replacement electrician, Robert Bailey, was especially helpful, doing more than he expected to do. The subcontract agreement included installation of shelf brackets and other hardware. Mr. Bailey did that - and hung the shelves as well. His was the one stellar aria in this opera.
