Water Heater Service
In March of 2010 our home warranty covered our malfunctioning hot water heater. This was urgent (to us) because the hot water heater supplies the hot water for our heat pump (heating for home) and hot water for the house. The waldorf was provided by our home warranty company. An emergency call is considered service within 48 hours. A representative ($100) came and changed the thermocouple and the gas burner control. The next day the pilot light was out again. Another representative came ($100) and stated that the water heater was recalled and the entire system needed to be brought up to code (about $1700 total). This work was completed within the next 48 hours. In December of 2010, our pilot light went out again. We called the Waldorf and a representative came ($100) and told us the wind was blowing the pilot light out. We called the Waldorf and asked how we could fix this (because the representative did not know how to fix this). We were told that it was due to the high winds in our area. We did not receive a call back within the promised 24 hours, I had to call again. I was instructed that the work would not be covered by my homeowners or the warranties (even though they did all the work and it still was not satisfactory).
This past week, August 2011our pilot light went out 3 times. I no longer have the home warranty and will attempt to locate another plumber/HVAC company to do the work. I am 5 months pregnant and will not be able to get on my knees come this winter and re-light the pilot over and over for a hot shower and warm bath for my newborn. I do not recommend this company. They do not call back in time (especially when it is ice cold out) and did not complete the work that was required. I will be contacting a new company and am hoping that they at least brought my system up to code.

This company was referred to me by my home warranty. Plumber came out on 7/29/11 due to stoppage. His machine broke but came on saturday which was very appreciated and professional. The main problem I had was communication. He was going to report back to my insurance company to approve the work, but never did. Set up another appt for Tuesday 7/2/11 between 10-2 and then I get a call at 5pm telling me he couldn't make it and they'll come out on Wednesday 7/3/11. NO call NO show. I call my insurance company on Thursday 8/4/11 and they scheduled them for Friday 8/5/11. He shows up without calling and no one was home and said he did call. Now we're still through the weekend without using water. The receptionist sounded like she was forced to be there, sounded asleep. a professional company is all about communication and keeping your customer in the loop.

Water Heater Service
A summary of our experience so far: The first visit was scheduled from 9-1. The company called ahead at 11, to let us know they were on the way, however, the repairman didn't show up until 3:30. The next visit, we were supposed to have our hot water heater replaced, but they brought the wrong parts and couldn't complete the work. The repairman was apologetic for the screw up, and was perfectly nice about it. We were told that they had to call us to make a new appointment. Rather than doing that, we received a phone call 5 days later that the repairman was at our house (we were at work). We informed the company that they hadn't made an appointment with us, so they rescheduled for the next day. The next day, the appointment was from 10-2. My brother-in-law was at the house the entire time. When I got home at 12:30, there was a note on the door saying the repairman had come and gone. He apparently did so without knocking, as my brother-in-law was sitting on the couch 3 feet from the door. When I called, I was quite upset at this turn of events. The woman on the phone told me it was my fault for not answering the call ahead (which was made at noon, so I was home within a half hour of the call -- and my brother-in-law was at the house waiting in case the guy got there before I made it home). She rescheduled the appointment for today from 10-2. My mother, sister, and brother-in-law were in the room and heard me make the appointment. At 3 today, we called to ask where the repairman was. The (same) girl on the phone told my fiance that the appointment was tomorrow from 8-12, and that I must have been "confused" because I was upset. I called back, because I was the one that made the appointment.
I called the company because I was frustrated with their service -- all I wanted was an apology for what appears to be some repeated miscommunication, and the promise that we had yet another appointment scheduled for tomorrow, and instead, the "manager" who answered the phone (and self-identified as the owner's daughter) screamed at me that I was wasting her time, called me a liar, and hung up on me. Unfortunately, this is not an exaggeration. I called back, she continued to scream at me and refused to let me speak to anyone else, threatened to not fix our hot water heater, and told me that we'd never get anyone else to do the work. I have never written a review, good or bad, about any company before. The tech we had at our house to diagnose the problem was perfectly nice and appeared competent. But the woman we had to deal with over the phone was beyond hideous. After enduring being verbally berated by this woman, she told me the appointment was from 9-1 tomorrow. She apparently can't keep her lies straight. We'll see if anyone shows up tomorrow. I'm not keeping my hopes up.

We spent about $685 on that service. We were very satisfied with the work that they did. They came when they said they would and everything went fine. We have no complaints what so ever.

Not well. Was referred to them by my home warranty company, in which I had to spend $100 deductible just for them to show up. Some guy from Waldorf comes takes a look at what I was describing was the problem with possible leakage from a pipe from one of the upstairs bathrooms. The guy takes my money, does not work, and then does not report his visit or diagnosis to the home warranty company. So I ended up paying $100 for nothing and had to work with my warranty company so they weren't charge me again to send another plumber to the house.

Came on time: Fixed problem: Cost overall, once completed was reasonable. Plumbers cost a lot these days. I would call them again. Speed of service was important.

They installed the boiler in my basement. He was supposed to install a 100000 BTU boiler, they installed one that is only 70000 BTU. They also did not install the thermostat they stated would be installed. I had to fight with them to install a new expansion tank rather than using the one from my old boiler. The boiler has never worked and not helped me. They charged my credit card before the work was even performed. They have offered to come and fix the boiler, but I want them to replace it with one that works. I am now going to have to contact a different company to report on the boiler. The credit card company needs me to do this to find out about the defective boiler. I have now been without heat for two weeks during extreme snow storms.

Mike arrived after calling ahead, took one look at my problem, and said he could fix the faucet at much less cost than replacing it (I had already purchased a new faucet). So he fixed the faucet by inserting a new cartridge - which he had on hand - and I will now return the faucet I had bought and get my money back. The cost for labor and parts was $100, which was probably fair (total time on the job was about 30 minutes).

One bathroom has low water pressure and soft water. The house was vacant for about a month before we moved in, and our concern was that there was dried buildup blocking the copper pipes. Also, there had been a leak in the level below, and we smelled mildew. We wanted to be sure there wasn't a slow leak causing both problems. James checked every possibility, including showerhead and household water flow limiters. His recommendation was to have work done on the diverter of this particular faucet, which is what other plumbers recommended. He stated flat out the home warrantee wouldn't cover it and left an estimate of $400 for future work on the diverter. He also checked out whether there was a filter on the waterline into the fridge, and informed me how to raise the temperature on the water heater. His advice was sound and professional. We are not sure about whether to do the work on the diverter and will assess later.

Problem turned out to not be a plumbing problem. We saw trail of water and suspected a water leak. It turned out to be overflow from the water pump for our AC unit. Our bad; however, the plumber then said "Not my problem! Now, you owe me $95 for my coming here for no reason." I'd have been happy to give him perhaps $20 or $30, but $95!!! Way too much. I called the dispatch the next day and asked for my money back. Dispatch said, "No way, that's just like a doctor's copay!!" I was a loyal customer, but I won't be using this plumber anymore.

They had some of the best deals going for buying and installing hot water tanks. Although they don't have the best quality of work, their prices can make up for the difference. They didn't dispose of my old tank and I do wish they would have done that for me.

Very well. They've been to the house many times before to fix running toilets and such, and have always joked about the "old house problems" and how big a pain they are to fix. But they always fix it in a professional manner, are quick, courteous, clean and neat. In this case, they arrived as scheduled the day after their initial visit with the faucet and had it replaced and in fine working order in about 30 minutes. Saved me running around looking for a faucet then getting them back out...I didn't have the time or the patience for it, and their price was less than another company had quoted me.
