Our family has used Danneman's Auto Service for 25 years. It's the first garage I had experienced where I didn't question their recommendations and didn't worry about whether they would fix all problems. They make life simpler with their excellent care of our cars.

I dropped off the vehicle without a prior appointment.  Mechanic called me at home within an hour to tell me what the problem was and to give me the estimated cost.  He explained that because of the age of the vehicle, they would have to order the needed parts from New Jersey and so they would not be able to fix it the same day.  He said they would fix it the next day.  Before noon the next day he called to say the car was ready.  The cost was exactly what he had estimated.  I have had similar good, friendly service at Danneman's before, and would never hesitate to take my car there.

I have been to Dannemans a handful of times before for minor repairs.  I had them check the brakes and an oil leak this time.  They quoted me $700 in repairs on the brakes, and $1800 in repairs on the oil leak.  Re the brakes, I talked them out of changing the pads and machining rotors on my front brakes, and changed the pads myself (the rotors are fine, and I would save $200 on the cost they quoted just by swapping out the rotors). Saved about $400 by largely declining their services there.  On the oil leak, I got another repair shop to address the leakign seals and change the timing and drive belts for $500, all told.
Note that blue book value on the car is $2200 at best. So I plead with them that I wasn't looking to spend a fortune. Even so, they kept driving up the price.  To say the least, this led to some serious heartache in our family about what to do with the car.  The heartache was compounded when, after I balked at the ridiculous price they quoted for changing the timing belt (and the water pump, et al) the mechanic turned right around and said, "I'll buy the car from you for $1000." That was a pretty unprofessional move to pull on our cash-strapped family.
I think the owner is honest and wants to run a good business. Unfortunately, I have largely dealt with a pretty callous and thoughtless salesperson/mechanic when I have gone there.
They do good work, from what I can tell.  So if you like them as a business and don't mind spending lavishly on your vehicle, then they may be a fit for you. But there are far more reasonable shops around, and I think I got more professional service than at least one Danneman's salesperson was willing to provide.  They lost a customer for life.

GREAT! They twice were able to book me within 3-4 business days. Each day, dropped off car in the morning, and they had inspected before noon. I performed the repairs and modifications necessary to pass inspection (replacing headlights, removing window tint) and they did the re-inspect. They were really accomodating about this, even when I hadn't gotten the tint entirely off the first time, allowed me to cancel the appointment on short notice and bring it back. Always professional, always seemed to do a quality job (caught problems I was aware of, and didn't invent others). Prices seem reasonable. I would use them again every time.
Btw, they are immediately across from the MARC station, so very convenient for commuters.

I took the vehicle in for an estimate the week before. They were very thorough and professional - told me what I needed, explained in layman's terms and patiently answered questions, worked with me to schedule the work, and by prearrangement, followed me to drop off rental car when they were done. Very kind.

Have been a customer of Danneman's for years.  Started bringing my 2000 Acura TL there for service when purchased.  Never returned to the dealer for service unless it was for something covered by warranty.  Car has 250,000 miles and still running.  Currently they are maintaining service on a 2008 Toyota Camry.  They did the Maryland Inspection as well has repair and/or replaced minor issues that have occurred since that time.  Highly recommend.

I went into Danneman's for a state inspection.  I was new to the area and just happened to choose to go to Danneman's.  They were very professional and friendly and even though they didn't have the parts to fix my car that day (Friday) they said to bring back the car on Monday and they'll take care of it.  I took it back on Monday morning and it was ready to be picked up by noon.  Price was what I expected with a tire and a wheel being replaced.

All of the people we met at Danneman's auto repair shop were very pleasant and friendly.  We were able to get an appointment within a day or two.  When we dropped the car off, we were told that they would diagnose the problem and get back to us with the results and an estimate, which they did a few hours later.  They did not have the part needed for the repair (the car is 10 years old), so they ordered it.  They told us when the part would arrive and we picked up the car to use in the meantime.  A couple of days later we took the car back to have the repair completed.  The work was completed by the time promised and the bill was exactly the amount of the original estimate.  Most importantly, when we took the car back to the MD emmissions inspection facility for retesting, it passed with flying colors.  We will take our vehicles back to Danneman's for service in the future because of our experience with them in this case.

When I arrived, I waited at the most 2 minutes before being acknowledged by a kind worker who apologized for not noticing me before. The waiting area was very hot; it was at least 90 degrees outside and the doors to Danneman's were closed. I arrived at approximately 2pm and was told to have a seat and my car would be seen shortly. There were two small dogs roaming the waiting area and dog hair covered the couches. At approximately 2:30 another customer asked how much longer his car would be as he was in a rush. The lady behind the counter stated "Your just going to have to cool your heels, Sir!" which I thought was not only rude but poor customer service. Around 2:45pm I was told I had gone over the mileage limit on my car receiving a visual inspection and I would have to return for a full inspection on another day. As no appointments were available that day, I made a verbal agreement to arrive the next day and inquired how long the inspection would take. I was told approximately 2 1/2 hours which is how long the appointment took when my husband initially brought the car in for service. Before leaving, more customers arrived with a dog that they were walking outside. The two dogs inside Danneman's began barking loudly and attempted to run to the dog outside. A Danneman's employee yelled through the window for the customers to lock their dog up in their car and then yelled at her dogs repeatedly. When the customers didn't get their dog out of sight immediately she yelled at them again to put the dog in their car. This was a bit more excitement than I anticipated for a vehicle inspection. I ended up having the inspection completed within 40 minutes at another company on the same day. I will not use Danneman's again. I went there based on a previous report found on Angie's List.

I have been going to this company for about 1 year 2 months. The owners are husband and wife. Part of the staff have been working there for 20+ years. When you walk in the door there is more of a "mom and pop" feel to it. I have 2 SAAB's, but if you own a Volvo, I would highly recommend this spot. They remember you as a customer. No really. They will gladly fax you an estimate for repairs, so that you can shop and compare prices at the dealership. If you work near their shop (Laurel), they will take you to work and pick you up after to come get your car. They ask a lot of questions up front in order to diagnose what the potential problem is. Once, I had an intricate electrical problem where my car would cut off while in motion. They test drove the car about 8 times (outside of the regular diagnostic check). They could not find the issue. I did end up taking it to a dealer this one time, since they had more update diagnostic equipment that can find harder to find problems.
