I bought a new home and the builder subcontracted the roofing job to a local business, Cranford Contractors. I never had any contact with them until recently, when my three year old roof began leaking. I understand that the warranty on the house was only one year, so Cranford didn't HAVE to help me out. That's why the rating isn't F's across the board. However, I believe that you should stand by your work. If you build a new roof that should last 10 years at a minimum, and it leaks after three, you should do something about it. I knew it was going to be a bad experience when the woman who answered the phone was immediately defensive and completely unwilling to begin to listen. Cranford didn't stand by their work, wouldn't even come investigate the problem, I didn't have further dealings with them. It probably would have done them well to come check it out, because it turns out that it was a minor problem. Needless to say, I'll save myself the hassle and not use them ever in the future.
