They did a excellent job on the walkways, which greatly improved the look of our house. As before, the masons were diligent, were skilled at their jobs, took care to minimize damage to the lawn, and responded well to all questions and requests. We have had two good experiences with Lanham.

They did an excellent job on all the work. All workers were careful of landscaping, worked hard and were skilled at their jobs. The results were so good that we hired them again in 2018.

The construction and the repair went great; everything they did was satisfactorily done, and I would actually meet with them again tomorrow for another project in another location.

They did an over good job and did a very good job at cleaning up the mess. You can imagine with the amount of concrete that was taken up how hard that can be, but they did it.

Someone from Lanham Contruction came out to look at the stairs and saw several areas where dirt could wash out. To fix it, they back-filled dirt where dirt had washed away, poured concreted in several locations that were causing problems, and sealed other areas. They did a nice, neat job and we have not seen and dirt washing out even though we've had several heavy rains since then.

The new step is beautiful and perfect! They matched the color and texture of the old step perfectly. The lady answered the phone promptly and scheduled an estimate within 48 hours. Once the estimate was complete we had to wait several weeks until the job could be scheduled. The masonry guys are just extremely busy around here these days (typically they give higher priority to large and medium sized jobs that pay more) so it does take some time to actually get a crew assigned to take care of the project. Anyways Lanham Construction let us know of the schedule ahead of time and we didn't even have to be present on site to finish the job. Also Lanham Construction was very professional and cleanup was perfect.

The crew did an excellent job.  We couldn't believe how quickly and efficiently they took away the old walkway and landing.  We were equally impressed with how quickly they framed the wood and dug out the extended walkway, then poured the concrete to perfection.  All of this was done in 6 hours!  After allowing the concrete to settle overnight, they came back the next morning to take out the wooden framework, move any extra dirt/stone, and put down topsoil, grass seed, and straw.  They also did an amazing clean up job, even spreading my mulch out evenly, so there was not anything I had to do.
Lanham Construction Company's owner is often out on the job and extremely busy because the company is so good.  Therefore, if you are in a rush, this company may not be the right one for you. We were not in any rush, so it was fine for us.  Also, since it was a straight forward job,  he asked for photos and a description of the job instead of coming out to see it; then, he emailed us a quote and estimate for date of service.   For questions that we had, it did take some time to get answers for reasons stated above.  The company called about 5 days in advance to verify the date and time.  They came right on time on that date and did a great job! Finally, they were $600-$1100 less than two other quotes we got, and only a little bit more than the third quote. We are really happy, thanks to Angie's list :)

I signed a contract with the company on August 8, 2014 and paid 564.00 for a deposit, and when they finished the job I paid them the other half. The total cost of the job was 1,691. I worked with Andrew Leineman July 21, 2014 and he was the one who sent me the contract. On Aug 3, 2015 I noticed a hairline on my back step and called them on Aug 5th to inform them of it. The company told me they would send someone out to fix it. No one ever came, and the crack started to grow larger. I called the company again on Aug 11th, to remind them of the crack. They told me they had no forgotten me and I had to call again on Sept 3rd to ask. They said they would send someone within a week. Now when I call and they ask who's calling, they hang up on me.

The installation went smoothly and looked great. Unfortunately, in February of 2015 we noticed dozens of places on the driveway that were scalling. That is, the concrete was faiing off in rought quarter size pieces. We discussed the issue with Andrew (the head of Lanham Construction). His first reaction was to blame the issue on our use of deicer and that we did not seal the concrete. When we told him that we did not use deicer, he then changed the story, claiming the damge was from salt sprayed by salt trucks. However, the road is not a heavily salted road. We provided Andrew with documentation from the National Ready Mix Concrete Association that explains that concrete scaling may be exacerbated by deicers, but is usually a sign that there is a problem with the concrete or the way the concrete was poured. Most of the comunication was done via email through Robbin, the company administrator, as Andrew refused to return phone calls or respond to email requests to speak with him. This made the process very painful and tedious to go through. Andrew agreed to come out and look at the issue ( we later found out he did not come out, rather, he sent someone else and just said he came out) and agreed to do the repairs. That was in April 2015. We finally got someone out there in August 2015. In the interim, they made and cancelled several appointments at the last minute or just did not show up. In one instance, they cancelled due to weather (they scheduled on a day we were supposed to heavy t-storms) said they would reschedule, and then just showed up the next day when no one was home. We were told that they had not done any repairs, but when returned, we found what looked like a large bird poop on the driveway. When we tried to find out what was going on we were told that no repair was done, then a partial repair was done, and then all the repairs were done. We reached out to Andrew to figure out whether this was a complete or partial repair, but he would not respond. We were forced to take this matter to the Better Business Bureau. Andrew finally agreed to send someone out, but refused to answer any questions regarding what was going to be done or about the previous repair. Andrew ( through Robbin) indicated that several types of patching material were available and that we should be able to do a better color match. We were also told that any questions would be answered when the crew came out. They finally came out on August 13. Of course the two guys couldn't answer any questions and only had one color patching material. A complete waste of our time. We also recenlty discovered an approximately 5 foot long crack in the carport slab. All in all, Andrew is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with. I have come to find him unresponsive, unreliable and untrustworthy. I truly wish I had choosen a different contractor.
Response from LANHAM CONSTRUCTION CO INC
"Please review the original claim made though the Washington BBB report, regarding this matter, to show how the customer's son's claims have changed throughout the process. Throughout the customer's sons 'smear campaign' threats, we have attempted to resolve the matter several times. Before repairs could begin, the son would run us off the site, saying what we were going to wouldn't work."

Crew arrived early and on time, explained what they were doing during the actual work, very knowledgeable as to what needed to be done. Project was done that day, excellent cleanup, dug-up areas around the work site were re-seeded and strewn with straw. I was very impressed with the Professionalism of this crew and Lanham Construction.

The experience was excellent from beginning to end.  I contacted the company through Angie's List and received an immediate contact and arranged for a proposal meeting.  Andrew showed up at the time promised and was very helpful with suggestions to cure the drainage problem, replace the driveway and replace (and enlarge) the sidewalk.  I talked to three companies and all were Angie's List referrals - all were prompt and competitive in pricing; however, Lanham Construction seemed better prepared and experienced and the price was very fair.  I appreciated the professional approach from Andrew and from Robbin in the office - all very helpful and responsive.  Work started on the date promised and tear out and framing occurred on Thursday, more preparation on Friday and then the concrete was poured on Friday afternoon.  The crew was very professional and respectful - answered all my questions and were careful in cleaning up each day.  They returned on Monday and removed the framing and backfilled the work site, sowed grass seed and covered the area with straw.  I could not have asked for a more professional job.  I'm very happy and satisfied with the work done, with the appearance of the driveway and sidewalk and with the drain system (it has already proven its worth in the rain)!

Did a wonderful job! They leveled and then repoured the sidewalk. After the job was done, Lanham came out and put down dirt and grass seed where the lawn had been disturbed and then covered that area I'm straw. A very thorough job.

Quality of work was superb.  Timing of work was difficult because of the hard winter.  The job took much longer than estimated.  But, the contractor stayed in constant communication with us and did everything they could to ensure we had access to the house.  Contractor also ensured all proper permits and variances were obtained, even accompanying the owner to the variance hearing.  This was certainly above the job requirements!

Their service was A+++. I like the quality of the materials and their thoroughness. They did extra things that I hadn't asked for like repairing a fence rather than just putting it back up again. They actually went out and got boards and repaired the fence for me. They had excellent work crew. They were polite and quiet. They just did a superb done. That group I would highly recommend.

Due to rain work was re-scheduled once; however, the ground surrounding the work area was still soft. The crew brought in heavy equipment to break up the old stoop and sidewalk and did severe damage to my lawn. Although they used fill dirt and seed to repair the area, it took me into the fall (and my own re-seeding) to grow my grass back.

The crew was able to tear out the old concrete, form , pour the concrete, remove the forms and fill in the damaged area in less than seven hours. The job seemed rushed and what would be expected for commercial and not residential construction, especially with a well groomed yard. The finished project was above average and I must say that after six months it has stood up to the elements and still looks fine.  It should be noted that I had read a review on Angies list from a member who had experienced lawn damage from this company but weighed that against the many positive reviews.

My advise is to stay away from large contractors and select a smaller contractor who has favorable reviews on Angies list.  I received such a bid for this job from one of them, and am sorry I did not select him.
