It went exceedingly well. I called the company and Bob Ciangalini even answered his own phone. I was very impressed by Bob because he was punctual, knowledgeable, and just plain nice. We knew that the tiles contained asbestos, but when Bob came to our house, he correctly pointed out that the mastic (glue) might also contain traces of asbestos. He removed some mastic and had it tested by a local lab, and he was correct. The price is higher than some other companies, but, in my opinion, this company is worth the extra cost. Bob responds very quickly to any phone inquiry and the removal is professionally done and relatively quick. Would definitely use this firm again and would recommend them.

The project went well. The removal of the tiles was done prior to remodeling a basement. Air quality was monitored. This is a pricey but necessary job.

Response from CAMPBELL GIBBONS
"I am a little baffled at why we received a B rating. I went to the customers house when contacted me and presented them with a proposal. We did not do any work there. I was told they decided not to have it done. I'm sure if they used our services they would have been satisfied."

The job went very well. The crew did an excellent job removing asbestos floor tiles and the remaining mastic. The work was done on time and all the people at Campbell Gibbons were a pleasure to work with, especially Bob and Dom. I would not hesitate to use Campbell Gibbons again.

After opening the unit they found only one tiny strip that might be asbestos. That was properly removed and enveloped over the course of 60 seconds and the technician said, I'm not gonna charge you for that.- I'll take it and make sure it is properly disposed of.

Wonderful service. I would definitely call them again.

The crew arrived on time and were polite, professional, and efficient. They carefully sealed both kitchen doorways with plastic film, used a window fan to maintain negative pressure in the kitchen, and turned off our HVAC to ensure that no asbestos fibers could migrate to the rest of the house. The family left the house while they worked, and returned after a few hours when the crew called to say they were finished. They asked us to check their work before they left, and offered additional asbestos testing (for an additional fee) if desired - but I did not think it was necessary.
When they left, there was no sign that they had been there, other than the removed tiles. The kitchen was left with a smooth, clean subfloor - ready for the new hardwood flooring that we planned to install later in the week. There was no debris, trash, or dirt left behind - not so much as a footprint.
We were very pleased and would definitely recommend them.

We contacted Campbell Gibbons and he came out the next day. Rather than
charging us unnecessarily to remove the floor, he tested the sample and it was in fact
negative for asbestos so he basically saved us 2000. We very much
appreciate his honesty and responsiveness.

Excellent service, courteous, professional, efficient, went above and beyond - my power was out so they brought a generator to complete the job. Helped turn off my water and deal with my frozen pipes too!

Campbell Gibbons was very responsive to both my request for an estimate and later request to schedule the work. Dominique and crew were prompt, courteous, clean and efficient. They started promptly at 7:30 AM and before noon I got a call saying they had completed the task. It was a pleasure doing business with this company.

I called Campbell Gibbons and Robert Haun was able to give me an appointment only a few days after I called. I thought the price that he provided was fair. The crew arrived on time and completed the work in about 3.5 hours. They did a great job removing the tile. In addition, all the dust was cleaned up, again a great job.

The service went very well. Bob mentioned that his team had back-to-back jobs, but was able to start the work on the basement on a Monday morning. Bob called me the Sunday before and left me a voicemail to let me know that the job was still on for Monday. He and his team arrived punctually that Monday even though there was a terrible snowstorm in process. Bob did an initial walkthrough and realized that a few plumbing items needed to be unhooked before they could get started. To get started quicker, he offered to take care of unhooking the toilet/vanity in the bathroom and also the utility sink. I greatly appreciated his help.
The team was punctual and efficient. They were scheduled to complete the work in two days. The first day, Bob and his team of two came at 7:30 to start work, and completed more than half of the basement that day. They taped heavy plastic at the stairwell and used a heavy duty vacuum to minimize any dust from coming upstairs. At the end of the day, they took the tiles that had been removed that day. On the seconday day, they moved furniture, appliances and storage shelving to the opposite side of the basement to complete the rest of the tile removal. Just like the previous day, they cleaned up all of the tiles that had been removed that day, and the remainder of residual dust.
I am very pleased with the service I received from Campbell Gibbons, and would highly recommend them to anyone needing tile removal.

Bob from Campbell Gibbons was responsive from the very beginning, and was able to come do the work the Monday after we contacted him. He showed up on time (in fact a bit early) with a crew, and immediately got to work. He ran into some unexpected challenges (the mastic was too bonded to the old hardwood to remove) and immediately reached out to us to determine how best to proceed. At the end of the day, we came home to an asbestos free house that was cleaner than we had left it. I would absolutely work with Campbell Gibbons (and Bob) again!

I contacted Campbell Gibbons for asbestos testing and removal. They were prompt in providing the test results and giving me an estimate for removing the tile in question. I felt they were very honest in answering my questions and addressing my concerns. They do have a minimum price for asbestos removal, which is high for the small area I am concerned about. I have not had the tile removed; but if I do, I will use this contractor.

The company was responsive, easy to deal with, reasonably priced, and
did more than I expected. They solved a couple of small problems for me
while carrying out an asbestos abatement. Air testing was done onsite
during and after the procedures, so we knew the work was successful and
the site was safe. It was a pleasure dealing with this company and I
will certainly use them again.

Left voicemail with Campbell Gibbons on Monday, 11/5/2012. Estimator Bob Tangerlini returned the call the following day. I explained that I had 125 sq ft of asbestos floor tiles to be removed. They had an opening for the following day, Wednesday, 11/7. We resolved the proposal and contract details via scanning documents, and scheduled for 7:30am. The two man team (Mickey and Doug(?)) arrived on schedule and proceeded with removal. They also did a bit of bonus work (see paragraph below). Work finished and the spaces were spotless (with only the black-colored adhesive-type material and wood floor remaining).
Prior to their arrival, my contracting team (my home is being renovated) also found the same tile as a second layer of flooring in the kitchen. The contractor's team removed the flooring before I had a chance to contact Campbell Gibbons, and left a bit of residual tiles behind. Mickey and Doug even cleaned this space of the residual.

During the week of August 13, 2012 Campbell Gibbons had estimator Bob come out to view the site (they needed to know what materials were under the floor tile to be removed -- example, wood floor, concrete, or....); within the week a proposal was submitted, and the price beat a competitor by over $1,000 (and was more in line with other numbers I saw on Angie's List). The estimate took less than 25 minutes because the space is small, approximately 225 sqft. When the estimate was done, Bob took great care to explain the process that would occur; confirmed that the D.C. government would not require the 2 week wait period because of the space size being abated; explained that floor tile is on the relatively low scale for hazard, and related it's low hazard risk by stating that an air monitor firm could be eliminated from the process. He explained that only if the tiles are grinded and the asbestos fibers become air borne would there be a hazard. This was in line with what another bidder told me as well -- he stated that floor tiles are so relatively benign that the homeowner could remove it.
After receiving an acceptable proposal, I requested, and received Campbell Gibbons insurance and DC license. The information was sent the day following my request. It was agreed that work would start at 7am, Monday, August 20.
The team arrived a bit late, because Bob inadvertantly documented the wrong city quadrant. They arrived only 25 minutes late as a result. The team consisted of Supervisor, Mickie, and two abator's Jesus and Marvin (I could have the last guy's name wrong). The independent air monitor guy arrived also. Everyone was professional and pleasant to work with.
The area to be abated was encapsulated with 6mm plastic; they got into their appropriate gear (white suit and asbestos rated respirator), they removed the carpet, and paused so that I could get photos of the floor; and the abatement work proceeded. After the work was finished, the team escorted me back into the house where we walked through the space and I saw the flooring.
Just before the abatement work was started, The air monitor contractor asked if I would like his firm to test the adhesive that was sticking to the wood flooring that lay beneath the floor tile and sheathing. The cost would have been $50. I agreed, and he scrapped up the amount needed for a test. Ultimately this was not done after seeing the condition of the floor after the tiles and sheathing was removed -- there were areas that had replaced wood, so that new flooring is needed. So the $50 check was returned to me at the site.
After they departed, I found 3 pieces of wood trim was left (about 15" each in size), and a tiny, tiny, bit of debris (really small amount, an amount that could fit on a pinky finger).

A few months before we needed the work done, we contacted Campbell Gibbons and Robert Haun returned our first phone call promptly. He arranged to come over at a very convenient time for us. He gave us an estimate and later sent us an e-mail so we had the estimate in writing. Since theirs was the best estimate, we scheduled them about a month before we needed the job done. Two men showed up on time on the due date, set up their equipment and the coverings to seal the doorways and did the removal. That was it. We are very please with their timeliness and their price was good.

Very well. There were two people on-site, the CG worker and the environmental monitoring person (not a CG employee by hired by them). However, they both did the difficult, dirty work of ripping out the necessary ductwork. The environmental monitor person was really my contact for the job and explained what he/they were doing and why. The work was done well and the contractors that followed for the subsequent job had no complaints. I thought the price was great, CG's estimate was less than half of an estimate I received from another firm.

I needed the asbestos floor tiles removed to eliminate pet odor from a home that I recently purchased, and to make installation of new floors easier. I called Campbell Gibbons on a Thursday, they came out and measured the square footage the next morning, faxed me an estimate later that day, and were able to complete the work the following Monday. They were very punctual and left everything clean when they left.
