SHALL'S CONSTRUCTION

Description of Work: I cannot UNrecommend this company highly enough. In 2007 they did a repair of the drywall in the utility closet where my through-the-wall heat pump is located. The neighbor-above-me’s unit had backed-up drain lines which caused leaking in my unit below. This work was performed adequately. The same situation with the neighbor living above me occurred again about six weeks ago. When I called Jeff, the owner of Shalls Construction, I explained that I had the same scenario which required the same repair. He sent someone several days later who gave me a price estimate and we agreed, should I decide to have the company do the work after getting one other estimate, that he would come on a Tuesday the following week around noon. I was going to be working at home that day and the worker explained that he wanted to come at noon and complete the whole job, which would take several hours, all in the same day. The day after I received the estimate, I called Jeff and left a voicemail – telling him I did want the work done and to please either confirm he got the message himself – or have the worker do it. I never heard anything back from either person. When I finally reached Jeff by phone, again attempting to confirm the appointment, he was incredibly unprofessional – screaming that this work would be between me and the worker, that any work he authorized would be billed to my condominium association! I had gotten the referral of Jeff’s company from my association but he knew FULL WELL this work in no way whatsoever involved the association – that it was something I was having done upon which my neighbor had agreed to reimburse me. The INITIAL 2007 work done by Shalls Construction was paid for in its entirety BY ME – in no way, shape or form was the association involved with the billing. My recent need for a drywall repair was the EXACT same scenario. I attempted to (re)explain this to Jeff but again, he was mindboggingly unprofessional. I cannot state strongly enough how poorly and rudely Jeff Gottshall behaved to me over the phone. I will urge anyone and everyone I know with any drywall repair needs to avoid this company. I am also in the process of making a full report of this behavior to my condominium association regarding the incident.
