Blue Dog Boarding & Daycare

Ok, but despite providing bagged and labeled food for each meal, dogs not fed as directed -- came home with miscellaneous food bags. This was a problem because one of my dogs has epilepsy and needs to receive his meds (in his food) when and as directed. PROVIDER NO LONGER OFFERS SENIOR OR OTHER DISCOUNTS!

The facilities are very clean. The staff are fastidious about cleanliness, which is paramount when you are caring for animals. I also genuinely think the people who work there all LOVE the dogs that stay with them. The varying boarding options allow for customization to insure your pet is comfortable while they are there. It's nice feature that they encourage you to bring your pet's bedding and food. This helps them feel more at home. Charlotte is always happy when we pull in to their parking lot because she knows she will get to play with her friends. Like another review said, when my dog comes home she doesn't act weird ... just happy to be home after a long puppy play date. I feel very confident she is in good hands while I am out of town.

I needed boarding at the last minute over the holiday. Blue Dog was very accommodating. I was nervous having never used them before. The place was clean, spacious, and the staff was wonderful. I could watch my dog on a doggy Cam online and was able to see her playing with the other dogs. You could see the staff busy at work and always cleaning up and attending to the dogs. My dog came back healthy and happy and didn't act weird as she has before after staying at other kennels. I will definitely use them again.

Blue Dog was fantastic.  The staff clearly loves animals. They give your pets their own space with a nice bed and toys.  The dogs get to play with each other in an open area and then get time to themselves.  If your dogs have special needs, such as medications, the staff will make sure all those needs are met. 
They also bathed them and gave one a haircut.  They looked great!  They came out of the there looking healthy and happy, so I couldn't ask for anything more.  I'll go to them again.

Their hours are very comfortable. For daycare, they are open till 9 at night which is outstanding because most of them close by 7. Being a working professional and if you had to work till 6 or 6.30, still you would have time to make it. They are the only ones in the area who are open till 9. So you are not stressed that you have to leave work at a certain time.

The cost depends on what you are getting. For six hours of camp, it is $22.

We have a 5 year old American Bulldog, Zeke, and he LOVES going to Blue Dog.   Our dogs are pretty spoiled so when we first took Zeke in for an assessment I was a little concerned and talked to the owner about his quirks.  (All dogs have them right?)  We were worried because he's human focused, not dog focused and we really wanted him to spend more time playing with dogs and having fun during the day.  Like a lot of people we work long hours and don't get to spend as much time walking and playing with the dogs as we'd like.  Janet, the owner of Blue Dog, completely understood and for the first week that he went to daycare the entire staff made of point of helping Zeke to focus on the dogs and not the humans.  Just today we were able to see on Facebook that he was playing tug of war with three other dogs and having a great time.  

There are webcams which helped us to check up at various points during the day and it was really nice to see that everyone working at Blue Dog really does understand and, more importantly, like dogs.   If you live in the Silver Spring, Wheaton or Kensignton area then you are probably in the same boat we were in - a real lack of good dog daycare.  Thank goodness Blue Dog finally opened as we now have a safe, caring and fun place for him to go to three times a week.   A tired and happy dog is a good dog.  I highly recommend Blue Dog to anyone, even those of us who spoil the crap out of our dogs and don't trust them to just anyone.

I love this place. I just moved to the area and I was very hesitant to find a new groomer for my 14 month old puppy. I decided on this place after searching Angie's List and calling around for estimates. This was the only place that could give me an exact quote and nail rounding is included in a standard bath. Most places charge an extra amount for rounding the nails instead of just cutting. I was extremely pleased with the staff and the work the groomer did. His did exactly what I asked and even used the special shampoo that I brought from home. This was by far the best haircut my dog has had and I will definitely go back.

It was a good experience. I liked that they have video cameras in the play area so that you can go online to view them, which was re-assuring.

I left my dog there for a week. I was very pleased with the service. He came back home nice and clean as he was when I dropped him off.

We have a collie mix who we tend to groom at home but take to get groomed around 4-5 times a year. Each time we come, they always remember his name and he seems happy to see the owner/groomer. I really like that they take time to find out how you would like your dog groomed, we like to have his hair shorter than the standard cut and they always do a nice job. As an added bonus they will let your dog play in the AM in the daycare and then bathe and groom them in the afternoon which leads to a very tired and pretty dog when you get them!

I would recommend Blue Dog to anyone. They take very good care of their charges. I have used them for daycare, grooming and overnight boarding. Dogs are well looked after.
