Shawn's Electric LLC

We hired Shawn’s Electric to replace our breaker box three years ago. We recently called BGE about a problem with our meter and while BGE was looking at the meter, they discovered that the breaker box wasn’t installed safely or to code. Shawn’s Electric had installed a 200-amp breaker box, but left the 100-amp service line. As a result, BGE gave us a violation notice and told us we have 60 days to get it fixed or they will shut off our electricity. We also recently had a home inspection, and the inspector also said that the way the breaker box is installed is a fire hazard. After we got the notice from BGE, we contacted Shawn’s Electric twice (by phone and email) asking for their help correcting the issue, but we haven’t heard back. I was impressed by the many positive reviews for Shawn’s Electric on other sites, so I’m very disappointed that they would install something that’s (a) unsafe and (b) is forcing us to pay for an expensive repair to avoid getting our electricity shut off.

I was charged $244 to replace a toggle light switch with a $60 push button light switch that took less than 10 mins to do. When I asked the Tech and the owner why they charged me the price of a new install instead of a charge to replace a switch($55) per the quotes that I based my decision from, they said that it was considered a new install but when I asked the owner to describe the procedure for replacing a switch he described to me the work that was performed... I would like to add that the Tech did not have to run wires or drill/cut holes, he just swapped the older working switch with a more modern switch... Not an install, replaced a switch.
