My basement had brick spalling issues and I called 5 contractors from Angie's List. Eric was prompt and responsive in returning my call and setting up an appointment. Although his estimate was not the lowest, it was competitive with the lowest estimate I received. Due to the cold weather, Eric was able to fast track my basement repair. Eric was honest and timely in his communication. Eric made sure to check in daily to update me with the progress and to obtain my feedback on the work performed.
Eric and his team did a great job on the basement brick wall repair. They were thorough in finding and replacing spalled bricks and did not take any shortcuts. Eric was conscientious about costs and were able to pass on some cost savings. Eric and his team worked on the project for 5 days while I was at work. Eric and his team were trustworthy and I was not at all worried about not being at home. When the work was finished, Eric and his team cleaned the basement and the first floor of the house before leaving the project. Eric stopped by the day after and followed up to ensure my expectations were met. I greatly appreciated the quality of Eric's work and his professionalism. I already have scheduled with Eric to work on another project in June.

Eric and his worker did an excellent job on the construction and finishing of the mailboxes. All neighbors were satisfied. Only problem was Eric made me call and follow up with Miss Utility which is the contractor's job.

Everybody, if you're going to have masonry done you really should go to Eric Stinebaugh. Last summer he rebuilt brickwork, marble steps and repointed in and around my house. Over the harsh winter, I noticed the joints on my steps weren't holding up. I don't know if it was the weather or chemicals in my ice melting compounds, but that cement was really getting worn out by January. I mentioned it to Eric, and when he happened to be in my area on another job a few weeks later he came by and replaced those joints free of charge. He said he just didn't want anything with his name associated with it looking like that, and took care of it in an afternoon. I think that speaks volumes about his professionalism and dedication. He cares about the work he's doing for you. I can't say enough about Eric and his work.

He was early to the job. Finished it very quickly and it looked like new when he was done. I would hire him again, in a heartbeat!

The team was efficient and professional. It was a very messy job but they cleaned up well and my house looked great when they left.
Eric was able to manage time and materials to keep the cost manageable, which was a priority for me. The quality of work is wonderful and I'm very happy with the end result.

They were on time everyday and worked until quitting time. I could not be happier with the workmanship. We will be using them for any additional work we have in the future. It was a pleasure to work with Eric and his crew.

First let me say that I whole heartedly recommend Eric Stinebaugh. He knows what he is doing and was a complete professional during the entire process. The job took 8.5 days work days (Thursday through Tuesday). He and his crew showed up by 7am everyday and left after 3pm. One of my neighbors commented that "they showed up early, worked all day and left late." I am writing this a couple of months after he finished, and I am still completely happy with everything he did. I have received several compliments from various neighbors on the work he did.
I have a 3 story edge row house in Baltimore City. There were numerous areas where the mortar was cracked. There was also a three foot high section of stucco along the side of the house which was deteriorating. I requested estimates from three highly rated masons. I found his bid competitive. I chose him because he was excited about the job and I liked the fact that the owner was doing the work (I have the impression that he has 1 other crew doing smaller masonry jobs.)
He gave me a bid of $8-10K. The range was due to the fact that he would not know what was under the stucco until he took it down. Under the stucco we found the remnants of two basement windows, one that had been poorly bricked up with a wooden crossbeam remaining and one that had been cemented. There was also another section that was cemented. There were several areas of bad brick that had to be replaced. The stucco extended up to my first floor window sills which had metal flashing. After removing the stucco, we were able to to look under the flashing and found that the sills were wood that had completely deteriorated. I decided to have him rebuild the sills with brick. This was not part of the original estimate and explains the additional cost.
I agreed to his proposal in August. His schedule was full at the time and he expected to get to the job in the winter/spring time frame. In early November, he called me to say that he had a cancellation and was I interested in him performing the job in November. I agreed.
Eric and his crew were pleasant to deal with. They appeared to work well together. Eric is "excited" about his work, and it is a bit infectious. They cleaned up at the end of everyday.
Eric took the time to understand what I wanted and made an effort to make sure that I was happy with all aspects of his work. This paid off in that I only have good impressions of the entire experience.
I guess that my highest compliment is that I have a ton of 2nd and 3rd story windows who sills need replacing, and I plan to have Eric perform the job.

We are very happy with the end result. His communication could be a bit better, and I wasn't thrilled with finding old nails and bits of debris all over our driveway. But overall we are very happy with the work done for us.

High quality job. I would definitely recommend and would use his services again. Was efficient, quick, honest, hard working and did exactly what I'd asked, he exceeded my expectations and my brick mailbox is fantastic.

Eric came out on a Saturday to look at the job and followed up with a written quote a day or two later. You can tell immediately that he is a craftsman, and rightfully proud of his work. He showed me pictures of a number of jobs he has done, and he pointed out some of the shortcuts that a previous mason had taken in building our chimney. We got lucky that he had a small window open to do our job with only a few short weeks of waiting. Eric and his crew setup a professional worksite, showed up on time every day, stopped work when the temperatures would not allow concrete to cure properly, and finished in under the bid time. The work is beautiful. We will definitely use him again in the future.

Eric did a wonderful job. He is more than a mason, he is a true artist and does beautiful work. We have an older home and wanted the new porch and steps to be in keeping with the style of our home. We interviewed numerous contractors, but none of them was prepared to be creative and adaptable the way that Eric was. He worked hard, took good care of all the details, and became a friend during the course of the project. We will never use another mason again.

Eric of Stinebaugh Masonry proposed a plan to rebuild and strengthen the foundation wall and match the brick facade wall to the existing brick and mortar.
First Eric and his team had to erect a temporary joist support wall before starting the repairs. With a temporary wall up, the team removed a large section of brick and block wall. He advised me that he was going to reinforce the block wall with horizontal and vertical placed rebar and concrete to strengthen the wall, which they did. Eric came up with some new brick that matched the existing brick and mortar and also set the exterior window to be bricked around. It is very hard to tell where the brick and mortar were patched with the existing brick. Eric told me during the biding process that he could match the brick and mortar exactly the way the existing wall looked and he did just that.
Eric said the work would be completed within a certain time frame, and it was.
My wife and I are very pleased with the way the work was done and with the outcome of the whole project. We would highly recommend Stinebaugh Masonry to anyone who needs quality masonry work done!

From the moment Eric Stinebaugh arrived for our first meeting, we were immediately at ease with his professionalism and attention to detail. He respected our viewpoints on the job and educated us on the proper laying of stone. Eric and his artisans (for real) are highly trained and disciplined in their craft and show it. The crew personally took my wife and I to the stone distributorship and hand picked the pieces that we wanted, all along educating us as to cut, quality, weight and proper execution of the design. Extremely happy is an understatement. What is particularly interesting is that we interviewed 4 different individual stone masons ( i use that term loosely) and all said we would never find a mason to do the job we wanted...Stinebaugh Masonry is the company...don't waste time calling others!

The quality of the work was exceptional. The retaining wall, which had been repaired several times by other contractors to no avail, was professionally removed and prepped to be put back in place permanently. I have many times since walked on this and not one stone has come loose. Eric suggested a several inch think slab to replace the 1/2" I had topping a wall around the firepit. He expertly carved the massive slabs to have smooth edges and to be symmetrical. The area has significantly been upgraded. The front walk was in need of grout removal, multiple bricks needed to be replaced, and this was all done well.

Eric and his crew are first-class all the way and I am very pleased with his work on my Baltimore-city row home (built in 1900). He did a fine job rebuilding and repointing brick inside and outside of my house and repairing my marble front steps and surrounding areas. He is extremely punctual and professional and you will be pleased if you use him.
As he showed me other houses in my neighborhood that had similar work done, he showed me how most providers don't go to the lengths he does to make sure the brick and joint colors match the rest of the house. He also notices a lot of issues that it seems like other providers miss, because I can now spot repairs being done up and down my block that weren't completed with the same attention to detail as Eric would have provided.
Eric is very accessible and personable. He's willing to answer any question you have. He gets to work promptly at 7:00 each morning and calls you after each day to review what he and his crew worked on. He doesn't leave a project until he's done, so once he sets up at your site he is there until he is done, which is only when you are completely satisfied.
I think Eric would agree he submits high estimates. He said this is because he'd rather the final bill come in under an estimate than get a job based on a low estimate and charge a higher amount in the end. On my job I was very pleasantly surprised to see he came in under his initial estimate when all was said and done, especially because there were a few repair items?the concrete around the steps and some issues that came up with the rebuilding of the steps were not part of the original estimate, for example?that we added once the job had begun. All in all, I think the price was fair for the work and quality performed.
The only issue I could understand anybody justifiably having with Eric (and please understand I think this is totally a non-issue) is his schedule is so packed with work that he may not be able to fit you in soon after he meets you to give an estimate. If your project is quick enough I suspect he may be able to squeeze you in, but if it's large and/or urgent you should know in advance it could be some time before he can begin work at your site. To me, this is a testament to the quality work he does around the region.
I went with Eric because my initial interaction with him and the online reviews gave me the impression he was trustworthy and genuinely cared about the work he was doing on my house. I believe he and his crew work on your project as if they were working on their own houses and won't leave until you are completely satisfied. You can't go wrong with Eric working on your project

I interviewed several contractors and
quickly realized that most are only skilled in routine masonry. What I needed,
but didn't think I'd find was an artistic designer and master stone mason
rolled into one person. To our good fortune, we found Eric Stinebaugh on
Angie's List. After meeting Eric and experiencing first hand his true passion
for craftsmanship and excitement over the challenges and concerns we had, I
took a chance. He worked closely with us throughout design and fabrication to
make certain we ended up with a product that we liked, and we are thrilled.
From perfectly matching brick to a 50 year old home and the incorporation of architecturally
appropriate design elements, Eric?s experience showed. He was a pleasure to
deal with, punctual, and I would recommend him without hesitation for people
who only want the finest from a master stone mason. If you need someone to
throw some bricks together, Eric is not your guy (There are plenty of hacks
around, CAVEAT EMPTOR!).

You should definitely hire Eric. We would hire Eric again. If you want a contractor that specializes in masonry, cares about their work-product, and has high attention-to-detail, then hire Eric. Although Eric has a small crew, Eric personally shows up on site and does much of the work himself, unlike other contractors that have 1 person selling their services and a completely different group of people/strangers doing the work. Eric is always asking if we are happy with his work, what he can do better, and about possible ideas to make the house look better. Eric showed up at my house everyday by 7:00AM even though he lives a 1.5 hour drive away. He called back within a few hours everytime I called. He is upfront about not being able to start projects until a few months later because he has jobs lined up in the near future.

We are very happy to have found Stinebaugh Masonry through Angie's List! We had a leaking chimney and related interior damage to our brickwork behind the wood stove. These things were fully repaired and restored. They arrived on time every day and worked very hard until time to leave. Eric Stinebaugh is extremely dedicated to customer satisfaction and holds himself to high standards of craftsmanship. He is very careful to communicate with the customer throughout the project to make sure that it is meeting expectations, and is responsive to his customers' concerns and questions. We had no worries at all about unusual delays or budget; Stinebaugh Masonry LLC provided us with a completely reasonable and accurate quote. Upon completion, all the equipment was removed without any problems and they cleaned up after themselves 110%. A homeowner hiring this company should know he or she is in honest and very capable hands, and will have excellent results at the end. Aside from being top notch professionals, Eric Stinebaugh and his company were very pleasant, provided helpful advice, and even fixed another small issue for us while on the job.

Our brick home, built in1913, needed some extensive repointing. Our neighborhood is in the National Registry of Historic Homes. It was important to us that we found a mason who had experience working on older homes such as ours.
Eric had the experience and knowledge we had been looking for. He proved himself to be a true master craftsman. He took real pride in his work and it showed in the end result. His love and respect for these century old homes really shone through.
At the end of each day, he always ensured that I was satisfied with his work, up to that point. He had no problem changing or adding something if requested. Everyday the job site was left neat and clean.
I was a first time Angie's List user and had some anxiety when first hiring Eric. He turned out to be the hardest, most reliable worker we have ever had. He and his helper were at our home, ready to start, BEFORE 7 AM every morning. To keep on his schedule, they worked 11 and 12 hour days at times.
He was honest and fair. The final bill was less than his original estimate. The bill included a repair/rebuild of one of our chimneys that was not in the original estimate.
My husband and I can, without question, recommend Eric Stinebaugh for his excellent masonry work. He is passionate about his work, has an unparalleled work ethic and is a master craftsman.
