Jones Well Drilling

My water well pump was sucking air. After reading the reviews and doing some research on different companies, I went with Jones Well Drilling out of Harford Co - (410) 692-6981 - the guys who came out were knowledgeable and explained everything they were doing to trouble shoot the issue thoroughly. I only needed a new check valve and they are testing my water for me at no charge. There was no upselling, they explained how they get paid per job NOT on commission, which gave me peace of mind. Thank you Jones Well Drilling for a job well done!

Although this was not a critical issue, they had an opening the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and were able to complete all of the work on time. Employees were very helpful and had the expertise needed to explain what needed to be done. Very happy with work that was performed.

Price seemed awfully high although I did not get any other quotes. They were prompt and Mickey was great. However, nowhere in the line item estimate did they include a separate charge for dumping hydraulic oil on my driveway and then making a lame attempt at cleaning it up. I contacted Dave who acted as if they did all they could do and it was no big deal. What they did was try to scrub the area with Joy household detergent. Sorry, but it did not remove the stain. I have spent $50 on materials and about 4 hours labor trying to clean it, but will probably have to pay $500 to hide it with a driveway seal in the spring. Dave acted as if he could have cared less. Is this how you treat a paying customer?

Late in the evening on Saturday, July 11th, we suddenly found ourselves without any water pressure. A quick check showed the circuit breaker to the well pump tripped. Repeated resets had the breaker trip again. At about 8:45PM, I went to Angie's List to check with any businesses that worked with wells and quickly found an A-Rated provider in Jones Well Drilling (I did not go with the original pump installer due to poor response times in the past where they would respond to us 2-3 days later). I contacted Jones Well Drilling at about 9PM hoping to hear from them by the following Monday. I was greatly surprised when they called back around 9:15PM...the same evening! Dave at Jones Well Drilling asked for some information about the well that I was able to provide and then told me he could be at our home early the next morning. I went from greatly surprised to even more greatly relieved!!
We took our dogs for an early morning walk and when we returned, Dave was already diagnosing the well. He quickly determined that the wiring was good, but the pump was problematic. Within the hour, Dave and his colleague had the pump pulled up from over 250-ft deep and was inspecting it. The wiring to the pump was found to be good, but the old pump itself had failed. Dave provided us with several options on pump types and asked questions about our future needs (options involved what type of flow rate we were looking for, as well as if we were considering moving to a constant-pressure system that
would eliminate the pressure tank in the basement). We quickly settled on which pump to install and with that, Dave replaced our failed unit (by asking questions the night before, Dave already knew what pump types would work in my application...smart move on his part in bringing a variety of pumps). With a few hours from his arrival, we had water turned back on and at a better flow-rate that before!
Throughout the inspection/installation, Dave welcomed questions and did so in a polite and professional manner. Well pumps aren't cheap, but having someone with Dave's experience, coupled with the company's A-Rating on Angie's List, made our decision to have Dave replace the pump an easy one. We now have a well pump that functions better than the old one, and can be upgraded by us, or the next homeowner.
I can't say enough about Dave and his super-quick service. While I hope we never have another issue with our well, if we did, the only number I would call would be that of Jones Well Drilling.

My water was sputtering and eventually stopped running one evening. I called an emergency plumber, who claimed I needed to replace the entire system. The final quote from him was over $8,000! The next day, I called several well service providers, and Jones was able to come out right away. The guys thoroughly examined my well system and determined that I would have to replace some of the equipment, but not all of it. They were able to patch my system quickly so I would have running water right away and wouldn't have to wait while they prepared a quote for the permanent fix. They saved me a ton of money and fixed my system promptly! I would use them again in a heartbeat!

This crew was wonderful. They came the day we called and completed the repairs that day. We had been without water over the weekend and  were very grateful for their fast response.
They were both professional, and knowledgeable.
We would recommend them to anyone and plan to use them in the future, if the need arises.

Our well pump failed for various reasons, It was the original pump installed in 1995. 
David Kelly arrived to inspect and replaced on a holiday (charging non holiday rate). Installed Groundfos model 1554E10-250 110' depth. Replaced old poorly insulated wiring and help me decide on upgrading to a much better pump with the option for additional upgrade to constant pressure in the future. He had a great rig mounted on Gator for pump pulling making it a one man job. Great job, not cheap but quality is not cheap.

3:30 Tuesday afternoon " no water"!  In a panic I called Jones Well Drilling. The receptionist was very kind. She took my information and told me that she would have someone call me back. Within 15 minutes Dave returned my call. He advised me that he could be to my house between 9:30 & 10:00 Wednesday morning. I agreed. At  9:45 AM Dave and his help arrived. He pulled the pump and replaced the wire in no time. The guy knows what he's doing. I had my  water back on that afternoon. (What a relief). If I have any well problems in the future, I will call Jones Well Drilling!

Overall as good of an experience as having to have a new well drilled can be. David Kelly was responsive and great to work with.

Not only does this company know their business, they were very responsive and professional. We asked them to advise us about what type of well pump we should replace the old one with. They informed us that they would do whatever we wanted them to do but normally folks sell an empty lot with a drilled well. The wells are not usually provided already containing a well pump. The way he explained it, we may want the least expensive type, yet the buyer may want something quite different. It made perfect sense explained that way. I was (and still am) naive about wells and pumps, but I was so impressed with the truthfulness and integrity of this company, thus saving us thousands of dollars. We felt there was something wrong with the other company that we contacted and we are so thankful that we decided to call Jones Well Drilling for a second opinion.
