GORMLEY ENVIRONMENTAL CORP

Early communication with Gormley Environmental was very good. I was referred to this organization by a trusted friend with a lot of experience in remodeling apartments in our cooperative building. The work completed by Gormley Environmental was part of complete gut and remodel of a cooperative apartment kitchen. One of the walls within the kitchen contains an exhaust ventilation stack that is insulated with material known to contain asbestos. Because we were planning on removing a section of the wall next to the vent and re-building an adjacent wall, the demolition of the surrounding spaces and sealing of the vent stack cavity needed to be done with all safety precautions. In addition to this, the original tile floors and the mastic used in the original installation were also known to contain asbestos. Gormley Environmental completed the necessary wall demolition, sealing off of the ventilation stack and floor tile and mastic removal right down to the concrete sub-floor. The actual work was done to exact specifications and we couldn't be happier. As with any large project there are bound to be minor mishaps that happen along the way. As it turns out, our project was delayed for 2 weeks due to a failure of communication within the Gormley Environmental organization. We had communicated to the contractor in writing the dates for the project work to start with the supporting documentation that our neighbors were informed about the asbestos abatement. However, the necessary communications by the contractor to the DC government were not completed. As such, the permits were not obtained in time and the project was delayed. The good news in all of this is that when I was dealing with the owner of the company he made right and no mistake. We appreciate when companies take ownership for their mistakes and Gormley Environmental did the right thing. I hope that we don't have to do anymore asbestos abatement in the future, but if we need to, we would not hesitate for a moment to seek out Gormley Environmental.
