The electrician arrived a bit late from his previous job and began by attending to the problems we had isolated. He then inspected the entire house, finding multiple problems that had gone unrecognized; he repaired the most pressing of them. After 3 hours at the house he wrote up a detailed report, pointing out all the work we would need done in the future. He was friendly and professional, the work was reasonable priced; they accepted Angie's List 10% discount on labor.

Spoke to Steve Wilcox via telephone; set up appointment for his advice on a small lighting job; he arrived at my residence on the day and time promptly. Called before the appointment time to make sure I knew he would be there; very personable, very professional and really knows his business. Totally trust his judgment and advice; he fixed my small job without charge this time, but will use in the future when eventually there will be a need to have further repair. He really cares about the customer. Absolutely the best all around.

They where great. They where suppose to be here at nine. They where running late and they called to let us know and arrived at the time they stated. Very professional. Prices are reasonable.

I had no lights in half my condo, and the circuit breaker did not reset. I called Wilcox, and even though they had a full schedule that day, they had somebody out here within a couple of hours. He diagnosed and fixed the problem, replacing an outlet that had been shorted out by water leaking from the floor above. He was absolutely wonderful. I will recommend Wilcox to anyone who asks about an electrician in this area.

We called Wilcox based on the overwhelming number of "A" ratings on Angie's List. Arranged for a Monday appointment between 10 and 11 a.m. Steve Wilcox was there about 10:45 a.m. The main repair -- the electric panel -- didn't take much more than 15 minutes. Then Steven spent about an hour going through the house with me looking at the other work we wanted done and trouble shooting another problem he found when fixing the electrical box. He had both good ideas and some cautions on things we wanted done, which will help us budget and prioritize future work. His estimates seemed reasonable -- about $500 for most of the other work. In fact, there is a cautionary tale in this. A different electrician, a friend of another contractor we used for different work, gave us an estimate of about $1,800 for the same work we'll use Wilcox for. We were going to use the guy but decided we'd rather build a relationship with a company that would be there for us in the future. Steve's estimates are about a third of what we thought we'd be paying.

We recently moved into a 1965 brick colonial which needed electrical work/upgrading. We checked Angies List and read the review of Wilcox Electric. Not only did Wilcox (Dick) schedule an inspection expeditiously, their electrician, Ray, completed all work within 3 hours, spread over two days (see below). Ray was a first rate "diagnostician," courteous, thoroughly professional and NEAT! Once we discovered that a return trip was necessary (we needed to buy some new fixtures), Dick and Ray scheduled the work for the next morning on the spot, e.g. no days-long lapse between the appointments. Beyond being accommodating, Dick even called after the first day to check on progress and to ask whether we were satisfied (we definitely were). But it doesn't stop there: Wilcox's price was more than reasonable. One faces any electrical inspection/work with "cost trepidation" and the amount of work was significant. Despite this, Wilcox did not run up the price. Instead, Ray (and David, on the second day) sought to complete/completed the job in the shortest time possible. It was truly an excellent experience. I recommend Wilcox unreservedly.

They were excellent and accommodated an emergency request, they arrived within an hour or so. The guy was very professional and promptly made the correct diagnosis. I am very pleased and would use them again.

I asked for someone to come and check a non-working ceiling fan. They came once as scheduled, checked only the wiring from the ceiling to the fan (but not the wiring inside the fan itself) and determined that electricity was flowing to the fan and thus the fan itself was broken. We paid for this visit, and they offered to return and install a new fan (that I would purchase myself) at a discounted price, and we scheduled a second visit. I was not personally present at the first visit and so on this occasion I asked them to please look also at the wiring inside the fan motor, which was accessible by removing two screws. This they did and discovered that there was no electric power coming into the fan. They looked a second time at the wiring coming from the ceiling and discovered that there was a broken wire, which they had missed during their first visit. Once reconnected, the original fan worked fine. Of course I was pleased that I did not need to install a new fan, but I was still charged $48 for this second visit, which even the electrician acknowledged should not have been necessary.

Wilcox did an excellent job from start to finish. Everyone was extremely professional and pleasant. The electrician (Ray) did a great job and the final price was exactly what the owner (Steve) had quoted after he did an initial visit to provide an estimate. I also had Wilcox change the receptacles/outlets throughout my house on a prior visit. They charged me less than their estimate for that project. I'm very happy with Wilcox and will trust all of my electrical work to them in the future.

I was told that I could replace the kitchen light myself (I finally gave up after going to a few hardware stores to get the same recessed lighting and hired a different electrician who could actually fix it without replacing the whole recessed lighting hardware). As for the dining room lights, he took time to fix both lights that kept flickering. While it was fixed, the problems persisted a few days later. I was already dissatisfied with the service that I decided to contact my contractor who has his own electrician to do the work. The electrician fixed everything and will be using his services from this point on. The price wasn't worth it at all. Despite its high rating, I wouldn't recommend this to others.

No services were performed. While they promptly showed up to provide me the estimate, it took me 3 phone calls and approximately one week to obtain the estimate. When I called back with a question, I was contacted by a different member of the company to say that I could expect a call from the man who made the original house visit. That never happened. I took this lack of response as a sign that they also would not show up to do the work.

I pulled this company from the list. I chose him because of the high ratings and they are a D.C. company. He showed up on time, did the work and I was very pleased. Sean explained everything, he cleaned up well, and was very professional.

They were very responsive, we called them in morning, they said one of the guys could come over the same day. The charges were very reasonable. They were very professional. We were very impressed.

The people who answered the phone were very nice and very accommodating to help set up the estimate. When the day came, Steve called me 30 minutes before our appointment time to tell me he was on his way (it's about 5 miles from my house). For whatever reason, Steve showed up 45 minutes late for the appointment and never offered an apology or a reason for being late. The estimate took 4 days to return to me, and even then, Steve (owner) had mentioned that he is short staffed and although some of the work was rather easy and routine, that he would be the only one available and he would have to charge his rates. At the end of the day, the quote was simply too expensive. Steve was very thorough and knowledgeable, and I'm sure he's quite good...but this was simply too routine of an electrical work to pay that much.

I pulled them off the list. They were able to get me right away, but were a little more expensive than I had anticipated. They were really great all around.

Came on time, worked fast and competently. When Kevin finished the job, I mentioned that I found Wilcox via Angie's List. Got a 10% discount.

As usual, the electrician arrived on time and quickly got to work. He made sure that his work area was covered with a towel I had provided so that clean up would be fast. He cut through the dry wall for my new electrical outlet and immediately let me know that he was going to have to cut a second hole. He carefully preserved the cut out sections so repair could be done with a patch kit. He then moved to the much easier job of activating what had been a closed off outlet. He tested both outlets to ensure they were working. All of the work was done quickly and he even took the towel outside to shake out all of the dust and drywall pieces.

Very good. They showed up when they were supposed to, and were very nice and were careful to clean up after themselves.

Fine. We thought we had identified the source of the problem, but were not sure, and were going to be out of town the following week. The company went to extra effort to get someone out over promptly. The electrician arrived on time, looked at the circuit carefully, tightened the wiring in the circuit box, and suggested that we consider separating the circuit. We have not followed up on separating the circuit, because the original fix seems to have solved the problem.

When the day came to install the under cabinet lighting, it was discovered the lights hadn't been ordered even though they were on the estimate. This oversight created the need for a return visit. On that visit, they only had 5 of the 6 lights. A Saturday appointment was scheduled for the 6th light. No show, no call. Finally, the 6th light was installed, but no bulb. The quality of the work was ok when it was finally done, but too much time was wasted due to the lights not being ordered and being stood up for an appointment is unacceptable.

The phone receptionist was exceptionally polite and accommodating, and squeezed me in fast. Kevin arrived early (calling beforehand), was professional, courteous and quick and did a great job. There was an Angie's List discount, and the bill I thought was reasonable given prices in this area.
