LG Handyman Service Company

I wanted to share experience with one on many construction
companies working in DC area. This one is called LG construction
Services/Cleaning Co. and is run by Mr. Guzman. and his son Victor.
based in Hyatsville , Md. I hired this company to built a garage in Nw Dc (slab and cinder-block only. We
signed a contract and we're ready to go. My excitement wasn't long
lasting and project became a nightmare.
 Here is what happened.  After digging out for foundation and pouring part of concrete I was asked for extra money.
Reason- we need more money for concrete. You'd think contract is a
contract and since this was a new construction, there were no surprises.
So I had to write a new check $1000 just to keep them working. This
situation happened again after I was forced to pay for the whole
project. After 2 weeks me asking and calling every day when the crew
will be back, Mr. Guzman said he doesn't have money to finish (100% of
job contract was paid and an extra payment as well) and I had to write
another extra check.
Did they finish the job? No. They come back and
did some work, but I was left with $6000 work to finish I had to spend
to pay different company to finish. Here is the "best part". Quality of
work! Since those people don't know how to read architectural drawings
my garage slab is sloping opposite direction that is suppose to be. It means when it rains all water is running inside a garage. When
it rains all water is going towards my house, not outside of the garage.
Garage slab where garage door was installed is 6" off level. This is
simply ridiculous. Garage was "built" from cinderblocks and
unfortunately you can see through gaps in between cinderblocks where
mortar should be. Rough opening for door 36x80" was built 40.5"x 80.5",
after mentioning this to Mr. Guzman his answer
was " Order custom door". Unfortunately I'm now responsible for
damaging my neighbors walkway where LG construction spilled concrete and
didn't use any protection whatsoever. Dugout soil from foundation was
left in my backyard (W**!) One day a gentleman from workers Union
knocked on my door to inform me that Mr. Guzman didn't pay one of his
workers.I could write more and more what went wrong with this and in all
honesty I can't think about single thing that went the way is suppose
to be. Ohhh, I'm wrong, Mr. Guzman is very good at cashing checks. That
gets done within few hours. I'm ending this wild journey spending
another $ to pay different company to fix what was the sloppiest job I have even seen and considering legal actions against this company. My advice to you:  if you hire LG construction, make sure you have extra
 money to hire another company to fix and finish what has
been done bu Lg Construction.  Too bad I cannot attach pictures to show everyone what lousy quality work has been done.
