If you are looking for a landscaping company, avoid Denchfield. If you are already using their services, I would highly recommend that you review your bills - you may find that you are being taken advantage of.
In response to Mr. Denchfield's comments below, he continues to make errors with his numbers; 0.001% of 8000, is 0.08. In case he does not realize, this means he claims to have sent 1/12th of a person to collections - wonder if it was an arm or a leg? My guess is that by the time you read this post, he will have changed the numbers, just like he did on the Yelp review when I pointed out his mistake. It's time that Mr. Denchfield understand that he must take responsibility for his errors...and to set the record straight, it was me that fired Denchfield, after receving a bill for December lawn mowing, then having Mr. Denchfield contact me to try to negotiate payment...that is the reality...regarding other his other comments...thankfully for him, my mother is a tolerant woman and a creature of habit...but I'm not so sure she would appreciate being used to promote Mr. Denchfield's business without her permission...another example of how customers are treated by Denchfield Landscaping.
"This is a customer who does not want to pay for the services that were rendered to him, and is wrongfully posting to customer review sites in attempts to avoid paying the service provider. First of all, the referenced address is not his. This above address on Cable Drive, Kensington, is his mother's property, who has been (and continues to be) a happy customer since 1994 (21 years). The actual property held by (removed member name), which has an outstanding balance, is at 7015 Armat Drive, Bethesda MD. After failure to make payment, we terminated all services for this customer at the end of 2014. Numerous attempts were made to explain to (removed member name) his balance due, and after receiving nonsensical email rants from him, we were left with no other options than to proceed with collections. (removed member name) response to our collection effort is to post false and defamatory info to this site. This will give some perspective. We have serviced over eight thousand customers since the company was formed in 1992. During this time, we have had 0.001% of customers with non-payment issues resulting in collections. (removed member name) is unfortunately part of that small population. I hope this posting provides useful information to all individuals who are considering engaging in business with (removed member name)."
"(member name removed)- I'm glad are pleased with our work. As I mentioned to you before, the original driveway at your house (done by another contractor) is cracking badly, which is causing stress on the concrete seams of the trench drain during the cold season. I recommend you address this to soon, as the driveway cracking is likely to continue. Please let me know if I can be of assistance to you again in the future."
"(member name removed), I'm sorry to hear this- it sounds like one of our managers miscommunicated with you. We will gladly send one of our carpentry teams out to make the necessary adjustments. They are currently on other projects, but I will work this in as soon as possible. Please don't hesitate to contact me directly at (301) 949-5000 with any questions. We appreciate you business. Kurt Denchfield"
I received a very quick reply, and an estimate within a couple of days, despite it being the busy spring season. Jim Lamont made a carefully thought out estimate and provided options, along with photos of the plants he proposed to install. He went back and forth with me on a couple of options before we came to agreement.
After agreeing on the estimate, they accepted to order the plants and start work based on my scanning them a copy of the deposit check, which allowed my work to get started sooner. Jim and the Denchfield crew worked with my tenants to schedule the work and take care of their main concerns, as well as showing them how to care for the new plantings. They also trimmed a tree damaged by a storm. Upon completion, Jim sent me before and after photos of the entire project, which was much appreciated since I couldn't be there to see it myself.
I've been thoroughly impressed and satisfied with their work and responsiveness. It was a lot of money, but I feel like I got value from it.
My Father confirmed the crew arrived on time when they said they would, and took great care with his lawn that he is very proud of. He was able to converse with the landscapers and asked them to do a few specific things with his pots and hedges and they completed the task perfectly. We liked the service so much we got them to take care of the gutters as well, which I was very happy with as I did not want to deal with the gutters when I visited him.
Chris was great, the crew is very friendly and their weekly service gives my Dad the lawn he loves. The prices are fair, not the cheapest but then you get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend again for any outdoor service your home may need.
"Member, Thank you for the opportunity to work together on your project!! I am happy you are pleased. Enjoy the holiday season. Kurt Denchfield"
We also use them for weekly lawn service. the price is a bit high but worth it to clear a wild and steep hill.
They do work for apartment buildings. I know the owner of the company. I'm not really there to see them do the work, but they do a very good job. They work on a contractual basis and come out whole year round. They do the job that they are hired for. I have no complaints. They are professional and have been fabulous so far. I wouldn't use them if they were not doing their job.
