Very thoughtful.
Helped me with a lot of last minute details and that was under a time crunch.
My second move with them.
They are great.
this move that included a LOT of boxes, and nothing appears to be missing.
However, several things happened that lead to a less than stellar rating. All too
often their efforts showed a lack of sense and good judgment. Examples:
Most importantly, on the SIDE of each box supplied
by Great Scott there is a grid where one can write what its contents is, which
room it came from, etc. Unfortunately for me, it was nearing the end of their
packing that I noticed that the packers were not using this grid. Instead they
were writing on the TOP of each box. I told the head packer that writing on the
side of each box, where the grid was, was much more sensible than the top and
that I prefer writing the contents on the side. He shrugged, said that he had
always written the contents on the top - and then continued to do so! I am in
decent shape, but I am 66 and not a big guy. Many times when I was looking for
specific things to unpack early on, I had to lift and move 2 or 3 heavy boxes
in a stack just to see what was the labels were on boxes lower in a stack of
them - because the contents had been written on the tops as opposed to the sides
where Great Scott choose to put a grid just for this purpose!
They took 2 high quality down jackets and jammed them in a box to serve as padding
around some large bowls.
Inside a box marked books, I found books - and a smaller box containing 6 bottles of beer!
When they were moving my stuff out of my old
house, for part of the time they listened to a small radio with a speaker (not unlike
an old-fashioned transistor radio) that they had placed on my front landing
only a foot or so away from where they were carrying my possessions. I thought
this placement was precarious, but I also thought it was a clever idea that
they had a little entertainment while they were going in and out. It also
reminded me of a very similar radio I had purchased for use in Pepco power
outages. Well, near the end of their loading, one of the movers came up to me
with the radio and said "Here's your radio back" - IT WAS MY RADIO!!
I would have let them use it if they had asked (although not putting it on the
landing so close to their feet), but they didn't ask.
I had saved up a stack of empty copier paper boxes
from work, for me to use after the move to transfer books from larger and
heavier boxes to these smaller and less heavy boxes. Without asking me, they
took the tops of a few of these boxes and cut them up to use for other packing
purposes. That left me with some boxes without tops that were useless to me.
I could go on, but this gives a sense.
"[Removed member name], I'm sorry to read your comments after a year since your move. I wish I has known of these issues during the move or even just after so they could be addressed. Usually the guys know to make the move as easy as possible especially for the customer but it didn't read out to be that way with the boxes, packing or even using your personal items without permission. I assure you this is not how we perform everyday when it comes to moving a family. I hope you're fully settled into your new home but if there are further issues you would like to discuss, please do not hesistate to contact us at the office. Once again, I apologize for the lack of co-operation and mis-communication with your move. Henry Feaunati"
It was. They were exactly on time, pleasant, and professional. They were careful with furniture and walls.
On the return date, I unexpectedly had tight time limits. I communicated that to Henry, and he ensured that the crew arrived and worked as quickly as possible. Javier and company were finished with time to spare--again pleasant and professional. Everything was in its place and I made my plane.
I'd use them again anytime.
This company moved us across town and did a great job. We are tough/finicky customers, so that is saying a lot. The young men who moved the items were clean, polite and precise. They moved a lot of items and did it well.
A friend had glowingly recommended Great Scott and they lived up to her high recommendation.
I would definitely hire them again.
"I noticed we received a C rating from your move. However, I checked my records and I don't see where we moved you back in December. I'm not sure if this move was to your current address either but we definitely do not leave the main land. I be happy to discuss the move with you if you would like to contact us on (301) 699-2066. Thanks for your time."
