I believe that plastering work is messy and costly, Mr Boyd did an exceptional job the quality of work was exceptional. Any concerns I had they quickly addresses it, my ceiling is perfect I have no issue and its been almost a year. There a no imperfections everything was smooth and beautiful when they finished and I would use them again.
I found D.L. Boyd, Inc. through Angie's List and contacted them. They sent a gentleman out to give me an estimate. We later set up an appointment for someone to come out and repair the ceiling. They were very responsive and professional. There was absolutely no drama during the process, which I greatly appreciate. If I have a need for their service in the future, I will not hesitate to call them.
Obviously this is a warts-and-all review, and the bottom line remains that the company is great and does great work. But take the time to review everything carefully; make sure all the conversations had with the estimator find their way into the contract AND to the workers before they begin.
managed residential homes for 30 years. I have contracted with this company many times and have never had a single problem with them. If you want efficient and quality work these are the people you want.
Update to review in response to contractors comments:
The contractor's response mentions a technicality to get out of an advertised discount. The exact bill forwarded to the building was forwarded to me, I offered to fax a copy of the exact same bill that was given to building management to Boyd but they had no intention of offering the advertised discount. What they are effectively saying is that had they contracted with the person responsible they would have jacked up the price so they could create the illusion of a discount. It is a very cheap way of conducting business and responding to a customer concern. There is no empathy with respect to this contractor.
"The work that we performed here was in the corridor/common-area and not in Mr. [removed member name]'s unit. The request for a proposal came from the building manager, who we have a long-standing relationship with. Our contract to do the work was also with the building management. The invoice was sent to building management and the payment we received was from the building management. We did not perform any work at the behest of Mr. [removed member name], we did not work on any property owned or rented by Mr. [removed member name], nor did Mr. [removed member name] make payment to us for services rendered. Whether building management ultimately charged Mr. [removed member name] for all or a portion the bill we do not know. If Mr. [removed member name] were our direct customer he would have been able to receive competitive bids to compare to ours and of course we would honor our 5% discount offer for Angies List members, as we have for 100% of our direct customers who are Angies List members. We feel empathy for Mr. [removed member name], but our customer here (building management) is satisfied with our work/prices and has been for over 20 years."
"We would like to apologize for your dissatisfaction. This work was performed many months ago and we are pained to know that you've been living with this displeasure for so long. We would like an opportunity to come back and ameliorate anything that you are not happy with, for no additional cost. We would also like to clear up any billing confusion there may be and will certainly refund any additional payment immediately!"
We strongly recommend this contractor to any residential customers that are in need of small to large scale projects. I am relieved to have found a drywall company that I can trust and count on for a top notch installation.
THANK YOU D.L. BOYD!
"Thank you for the kind words. The work we performed here was actually stucco rather than ceramic tile. The owners were displeased with the company who applied the majority of the base coat so we took over and applied the finish coat. Unfortunately we weren't able to begin working until late December so we were dodging the cold/precipitation and were only able to apply stucco when the weather cooperated. This did cause the job to take longer than anticipated. We provided some complimentary exterior transition sealant that we hope somewhat compensated for the longer-than-anticipated duration."
