AMC RELOCATIONS

RUN IF YOU SEE THIS COMPANY COMING TO MOVE YOU!!!! We are a military family, and have moved many times. We have never experienced a move like this. The pre-move inspection was done OVER THE PHONE--in other words, they didn't really know what all we had. The crew showed up with a truck that had no working lift or ramp. This meant they had to lift everything onto the truck without assistance. They did not bring a dolly/hand truck to help them move items/boxes. They did not bring enough boxes. The boxes they did use were poorly packed--many items inside were not wrapped in paper, inappropriate stacking of items inside the boxes, bad combination of items put together (fragile with non-fragile), boxes were not filled to max with items or paper so they collapsed when stacked, etc. They did not wrap our furniture before taking it outside. As a result, the crew damaged the walls in our stairway, and damaged our hardwood floor. They carried our unwrapped mattresses and box springs outside and put them up against the house. Not only were the mattresses/box springs against the sweaty body of the movers, but then exposed to the dirt on the ground and side of the house. I had to remove sweat stains from the mattresses after delivery. They dropped our treadmill and rode our office chair down the alley behind our house. Before they left, we checked to make sure everything was packed and found a kitchen cabinet that hadn't been touched. When our items were delivered to our new place, many items were damaged, several things were MISSING, and most of the boxes looked like they had been kicked down a football field! We are up to our necks in paperwork for the lost and damaged items. We have tried to contact the company many times to get our hardwood floor fixed (we fixed the walls ourselves), and they don't answer the phone--I think they use caller ID. We even tried to go through the move coordinator and the claims department, and neither of them could get the movers to call us! The movers were suppose to come back a few days after delivery to pick up any empty boxes and paper--they never showed up! I could go on and on about this move, but suffice it to say that AMC Relocations, Inc. uses unskilled labor and broken trucks to move people. They don't give a flying fig about your stuff, and not only will they handle your stuff WITHOUT care, they will play on it too!
