Randy Newcomb was very prompt in giving me an estimate and when I decided to go with him, he was again very prompt on the days and times he said he would be here. Even though he was not the lowest bidder, his solution made the most sense to us compared to the other bids we received. He itemized everything nicely and he explained to me in detail what he wanted to do. He performed the work very well and everything looked really nice. He also discovered a problem with my J channel upon removing the shoulders of my chimney and suspected that contributed to my leaking problem. He brought the materials to fix it the next day, as one of his other masons works with a siding company and has the experience to do so. He only charged me a couple of hundred more to remove enough of the siding, put it back on, and replace large portions of my J channel. He also gave me the name of a gutter guy to fix a part of my roof line that never had guttering there (which was pointed out to us by one of the other bidders that could be contributing to our leaking with the rain falling on that chimney shoulder over the years and eroding the mortar). He cleaned up my yard and removed all debris. He also suggested that we could waterproof the shoulders ourselves every couple of years, thus saving a lot of money over him doing it for us. He did not feel a whole chimney waterproofing was necessary as there was no algae or mildew on the vertical surfaces. He was very professional in his demeanor and work.
